When I was a boy in the 1950's we used to play "war". We had smoke bombs and firecrackers with our toy soldiers. Unfortunately, we had some powerful "Cherry Bombs" that caused much injury or property damage. Because of this, Silver Salutes and Cherry Bombs became illegal around 1965 in the US and its territorial possessions. Roman Candles that shoot balls of flame should not be pointed at other people. If people used their common sense with these, there would not be so many restrictions.

ahh that brings back good days when i almost killed myself.... my friend thought it would be awesome to get some smoking half sticks... well eh we thought they where just big smoke bombs back in the day... well sure enough they where not! Smoked for about 30 seconds then boom and we where only 5 feet away from it LOL was literally a smoking half stick.. lucky we dived down! made a 2 foot crater in my yard :(

Well they can but they tend to get pretty hot and extremely rarely the clay smokeballs will blow up if the nozzle is blocked
