That statement doesn't even work because of course Columbus only discovered the top half of the Americas, not both. And yes, I do indeed know my facts. Generally speaking, Latin America and most Spanish countries teach of a combined America Model, whereas Eastern Europe and Russia teach of a combined Eurasia Model. Most English based countries prefer a seven model while the geological societies prefer a six model with Eurasia, which is what I use.
