I don't think this is a UFO. Being pretty experienced in photography myself, what the photographer said matches up, the "UFO" isn't uniform enough to be a flying saucer, and the theory of a CCD inversion from the bright city lights is very feasible, especially considering the over-exposure of the lights at the bottom of the photo. I do believe in UFOs, but I don't think this is one of them.

I've also taken plenty of things like light refracting through drops of water where light tends to reflect off the camera lens giving a suptle effect of a second light.

They also had an astronomer who looks into space, not into the low atmosphere we breath. "UFO" doesn't automatically mean "Extraterrestrial Craft", nor does it necessarily mean terrestrial craft. It simply means it's an "Unidentified Flying Object". ie. Something flying, that hasn't yet been identified.

There's enough credible witnesses of UFOs that if it were a crime they were seeing, the criminals would be convicted.

It was silly of the station to use the opinion of an Astronomer for this subject. It's like asking a bicycle repairer how the Space Shuttles work.

It was a poor assumption by the newspaper photographer to claim it was light reflecting off clouds. (Having taken about 12,000 photos myself over the past few years, hundreds being photos of clouds)

To me, in this particular case, it seems evident there's some kind of light reflection going on; most likely refraction within the camera.

A professional photographer took a picture of my brothers graduating class (300 students) and some parts of the photo were obviously distorted (parts of peoples heads were missing and shifted to different parts of the image).

To jump to the conclusion that it is UFO is a conflict of interest.
