1st off YYZ is basically THE # 1 rock out in a trance song like...EVER!!! and as much as I would have love the other members rockin out in the vid, well fucking done. I had no idea JUST how fucking hard it was to pull off this song drumming till now....
This has got to be the best CGI drummer video I have ever seen!!!! Playing the song on a kit is hard in itself. CGI it in pixels is insane. Dude, I'm high at a motha fuckin' kit and this shiz is taking me way down to China Town. Amazing is all I can say!
Nice work, dude. On a scale of one to ten, your score of 20 has burnt out the meter. That's how much I enjoyed it. Neil Peart would enjoy it too if he discovered this video.
See, someone needs to hire this gentleman for the rockband or guitarhero series because he is the only one who understands how a drummer moves and yet still has the ability to create the movement in CGI.
Standridge did an excellent analysis of Neal Peart's drumwork from the Moving Pictures sessions for this 3D animation. A must-see for tribute-band drummers preparing to do YYZ in concert or at a dance.
ummm ... YYZ stands for Toronto airport, and Neil Peart lives there ... so he's not American he's CANADIAN ... so just to make sure everyone is clear on that
Nice man...no, NICE!!! Very smooth!! One question, maybe dumb, but have you shown this to the boys at RUSH?!?! Maybe you could do some work for them on upcoming shows!!!! Keep up the good work!!
my respect man!! how long did it took you to make the whole vid?? i am planning to do the same thing but short version of a song... it's a very nice animation.. are you working in some studio?
The change in weather was brilliant, pure genius I loved the twirling of the drumsticks, as Neil actually does, and the slow motion of the drumstick in mid air was amazing. Once again, thank you for making this and, if you need another excuse to experiment with your new skills with animation, please make videos with Alex and Geddy. I truly appreciate this video and great job once again.
I can't believe what I've just seen. While watching this, the animation was remarkable, and I felt as if I were watching Rush in Rio, or A Show of Hands. That's how real it was, and if Neil really could play drums in the center of a lake or ocean (amazing, isn't it? Something Neil can't do... as far as we know), it would be hard to tell what is real and what is not.
First of all, let me start out by congratulating you on leaving me to stare at my computer screen in disbelief for fifteen minutes after watching this. I can't express how amazing this video was, and as a Rush fan I also feel the need to say 'thank you for making this.' This really is Neil Peart in the Limelight, five straight minutes of it, which is something we don't often see with Neil (though he always deserves it).
the jet and thunder is an amazing touch, are you a composer? and do you tutor 3DMax, mud box etc?

Neil Peart is so epic he floats on water WHILE he plays and twirls his drum sticks. Rock on Rush!!!

It's almost perfect. If you could only make the face more expressionless and android-like, it would look more like Neil actually performing!

Sure would be nice if it was syncronized. Kind of lame seeing the hits a full half-second after hearing it.
