I dont get it his work was great and he was revered yet the moma wouldnt take his artwork? and they call a cardboard painted in white art? or red? Maybe they were just racist

this is what is so confusing to me about art... you have these curators of some of the most famous art galleries in the world saying that his work was not good, now he is renowned as one of the greatest of all time... art is subjective, I dont want some fucking snobby bitch telling me something is good. Either you like it or you don't. I'm not even that big of a fan ob basquiat but if even those in the know can't even tell what the future of art is it tells me these people don't know anything.

I agree with Rammellzee... art IS A CON. I'm not an artist, but I had alot of artist friends in college, and I would look at some of their work and it looked like shit... but everyone was saying that it was so great. I'm not going to pretend to know anything about art history or what makes art great. But I think the most important thing with all forms of art and music is if you like it, enjoy it!!
