I am personally acquainted with Elvis and his beautiful wife Diana Krall and family. Never saw him in concert tho although I have been invited by Diana to see her in concert
i've only just started listening to costello properly, and i've learnt 2 things..i'm an idiot for not appreciating him sooner, and the bass riffs are insane.
OMG, thats a wild clip man! Caught me by complete surprise with that guitar solo and those creepy eyes and face! LOL awesome post!
Saw him around (guessing) 1982 or 83, one of the best concerts ever! BTW, Talk Talk was the warm up group with their first record! I listened to both bands music way too much the next 20 years, lol.
I saw a performance on the same tour 3 months earlier in Eugene, Oregon (it's true!). I was 13 years old, and nobody in our neck of the woods had ever seen anything like this at the time; it was like they were on a mission from Mars.
americans seem to appreciate costello more than the english.being english i find that thrilling and a bit galling.i'm not surprised he's fucked off.music in this country is not in a good state,no matter what the nme says.
EC & the Attractions in 1978 = AS GOOD AS IT GETS. Wow, I love this footage. If an official DVD of their 1977-78 gigs is ever released, I will buy copies for everyone I know who loves rock and roll.
Its videos like this that truly show the beauty of the internet & Youtube. I'd luv to show this clip to EC and witness his reaction & listen to his comments & histhoughts about this appearance. Thx alot for the post..this stuff is sooo amazing.
One of the greatest shows ever= will expand includes AALL of WBCN stories...who HATED this guy jsuch that the Armed Forves tour was a lil edgy. When in doubt= come though MOI!
Before I post six times on a 'Lipstick Vogue' thread ( and if I do I'll be 10000 times tighter) WHO THE HELL IS "LBANGS" on the 'listology dot com' I just pleasantly discovered. I loved Lester (RIP 82)- who surely appreciated The Who- but this guy really is something. I lost track of LB w/ the new wave / punk thing and did not know he loved so EC. He MUST have tho. This (other) 'lbangs' is a TOTAL "Lipstick Vogue" champ and GOOD FOR HIM.
That's the only time I've seen Bruce Thomas witha decent haircut! He's there with Duck Dunn. Temptation? Well, all of Get Happy! What more do you need?
And yeah- they were very similar to the ones he had on! I could clearly see because I was in a elevated (20' above stage) box to the right of the stage.

One of the best backing bands a frontman ever had.

@semprini20 The "Attractions" were after Dylan's 'Band'... and who did the Eagles back? Surly a top 10 I'd think though...

Americans also liked Queen much longer than the Brits. We never caught onto that Shakin' Stevens guy.
