Hmm, she would have been really good indeed, but I still think Rita would be better in overlimit with all necessary skills marked on, Bla Bla Bla TIDAL WAVE!! And when Over Limit is over, you have enough to re-activate it. Just based on that I think Rita is better. But indeed, Marta would have been very pro, better than Genis for sure, cus Marta can instant cast as well.

I am not really used with the Japanese voices of Emil and Marta, I have heard them though. But yea, I loved the English voices for this one more. I dunno, but for some reason, Marta's sweet voice is like, very good, for most supposed English sweet voices. As for Emil. He has some kind of badass tone in his voice.

Even though there are just 2 new main chars, if I'd call it that, these 2 got indeed the best English dubs. :p

Although, if it helps any, I think Emil's unused artes are in a different "directory" for different parts of the story (there would be one for Ratatosk Emil, one for regular Emil, and one for Ratatosk Emil during a hypothetical battle against regular Emil) and are scripted to be used past a certain point in the story. Like Luke's short hair in Abyss.

Now I'm kinda disappointed by this. I just got Dawn of the New World a few weeks ago, and to think Namco was holding out on good stuff for Marta. Alice with Healing Circle and Revitalize would be quite nice XP. And to think Raine would have finally gotten Fairy Circle but it sounds like it was her second Mystic Arte. Regal sounds like he had something extra added to Final Fury.

If you use codes to put those artes for Marta on her Up/Down/Left-Right/Neutral area, she uses them perfectly with voice and everything. Can't really test out the others though... Might be possible to test out Alice's if someone could hack her into your party (which I hear is possible)

I have found another possibility: Zelos, who is human, is able to use magic because of elves blood injections. So why couldn't Seles get the same treatment?

Also I remembered that Mint Adenade from Tales of Phantasia was able to use healing arts, despite being a human herself.

If it's not elven injections for other people, then maybe humans are capable of just healing magic?

@sonic26000 If a half elf mated with a human and the following generations' blood gets slowly diluted, why couldn't a quarter-elf exist? Seles's mom was a half-elf, making her one.

Also, Zelos and Kratos are able to use magic because they swallowed a mythical mineral called Aionis. Pure humans aren't able to use their own magic until Tales of Phantasia, where they develop the non-mana using "magic" called Houjutsu, where the power is derived from prayer rather than mana manipulation.

@frezzere It's still an unused arte though, since you have to hack Bloody Howling onto Marta's moveset in order to hear the quote. It's like using the Judgment glitch with Zelos on the GC ToS. He says what he says when he uses Judgment as a boss NPC character, but he can't get the spell by any normal means as a playable character, other than hacking or glitching

@pieoverlord There was some videos of some homebrew that replace Emil and Marta with Decus and Alice and there's even a video with Alice in battle but she doesn't do anything other then stand there. I couldn't find those videos again but it's a small hint they might have been planned as more party members but got scraped.

But I'm pretty sure you can achieve many things from hacking, such as replacing an existing party member's character model. Were they using their own artes and voices?

I can understand them having these unused voice clips in an original version, but since this is an English dub, you'd think they would have had the completed game and know which moves would make it in. Maybe the just prepare a lot of possible voice clips, or maybe they started the English track even while the game was in developement? Interesting...

@spectpidey1842 Lol, well...she was going to be able to use Revitalize because it was originally planned for her and Decus to join your party. But then the creators decided to instead have the two die for some reason. Probably because this was a low budget game.

Strange thing. Even though Alice could've acted as another healer, she was never planned to have any Artes to revive your party members. Probably balanced with the fact that she has better Strike Artes than Marta.

@lMajin3l From the tip of my tongue, he uses: Divine Reincarnation, Misery Wildfire, Radiant Spark, Branded Earth, Fallen Thrust, Infinite Shadow, Revelry, Lunatic Surface, Ignorant Night. These are the English ones though, I have no idea what the Japanese equivalents were because I never fought Album Atrum on the Japanese version.

For the battle dialogue, "It's futile!". "There's no escape!", "piece of crap!", "There is dust before the wind...".

(the other 2 are just noises)
