  • All 3 artists are so talented. Does anyone EVER comment on the bassist? I think without a vocalist they are unique, but with a vocalist fit for them, they could take over the world!

  • @Startingthend There's no bassist in Animals As Leaders.

  • @Startingthend they don't have a bassist...

  • @Startingthend take what credit you are giving the 'bass player' and split it between the two guitarist... because they are playing the low end you can hear

  • @Startingthend I was refrencing the man who plays low key guitar who keeps mostly rythem. which i know "literally" isnt a bassist, but in my eyes he plays the role of one. plus he looks like a chubby Mexican, and doesnt every chubby Mexican play bass?

  • @Startingthend lol wtf?

  • @Startingthend That's some stereotype. I'll buy it.

  • I really like the clean guitar parts, anyone know songs that are more clean than heavy by aal?

  • @Commiteee Actually, alot of there songs aren't very heavy. Just listen to more of their songs and you'll get plenty of clean riffs.

  • @METALdude1195 Yeah, I did that after commenting. Really liked Behaving Badly. Def going to buy some of their music.

  • wahnsinn

  • everybody talks about tosin's god-like guitar work but nobody ever mentions how awesome the drummer is. he is seriously so underrated.

  • @TheVeilofOsiris totally agree, that drummer is nuts!

  • @TheVeilofOsiris Aren't the drums programmed by Misha Mansoor? O.O

  • @leadersasanimals your name is the champion

  • Zapierdalam do sklepu po płytę

  • my favorite part is from 0:00 - 6:45

  • This music is so fucking awesome.. Sounds like something from outer space. :)

  • This penetrates deeply into my soul pussy.

  • lame..

  • dude..... i think i just shit myself.....

  • wow :O

  • tosin sweeps like a fucking janitor

  • @kooozle Lol!

  • @kooozle Tosin chops like a butcher.

  • it would take 300 astro physicists 150 years straight to calculate the actual time signature so you can all just give up now.

  • OMFG!! I FUCKING LOVE THIS SHIT!

  • Everyone,

the time signatures can be counted multiple ways, depending if you want the riff to repeat exactly after X amount of measures, like a 13/4 can be 3/4 3/4 7/4 etc.

  • @itsamystery94 Yeah you can also count the whole song as one measure/ bar ;)

  • @itsamystery94 Ya none of us here would know that.

  • and thats how aliens r making contact with us........

  • damn, now I want an 8 string guitar

  • @satch72 You can play it on a seven string. The 8th string isn't necessary in this song. ;)

  • @LeadersasAnimals Thanks, but all I have are 6 strings, I use a whammy to drop it the extra fifth. But I see and 8 string in my future now. hahaha

  • This band is just amazing when high and always!

  • What's a time signature??? honest question......

  • Comment removed

  • Nevermind I realized that it was 18/8 which reduces to 9/4 not 21/8. Sorry for misunderstanding.

  • @DannyDaWiz ;) :) It's only math. You can count the 9/4 also as 18/8 or 36/16 or 72/32 and so on... ;)

  • How can you tell its in 9/4? I've been intro down as 21/8 in groups of 1234 123 1234 123 1234.

Sorry im really new to these complex types of time signatures and im just looking to gain more knowledge about the subject.

  • I didn't hear any time signatures. All I heard was

    JJJJJEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSUUUUUUSSSSSSS

  • Saw these guys live. I have to say it is was the most breath-taking experience of my life. If they're coming through your town, please go.

  • You could totally mosh to this. But you'd get hit in the head from trying to watch Tossin play.

  • I've been listening to this record and it took a long time for me to realize there is no vocalist.

  • Play this with this watch?v=BjnR7xET7Uo&feature=aso

    Goes great together.

  • I don't even know what's real anymore. This is so fucking dope.

  • there is simply no way to describe this band. there isnt a word that can say what they are and how amazing they are its like theyre so great words are not worthy of their talent

  • The outro is sickening!!! love it Tosin your the man! ... man!

  • I found it quite.. quite easy to headbang to this. On the other hand, I was utterly consumed by and lost in the music, and didn't have a choice but to headbang. And the speed parts are all-consuming rapture.. I feel it physically.

  • i wanna show this piece to my music theory teacher and be like "analyze this."

  • @imperfection32 Do it! .....depends on the teacher though :P

  • Damn...

  • I was the 50th person to like this! whos gonna be the 10.000th?

  • think youre right, I tried to sing to it, ... Impossible. you have to be a god like they are... :D

  • All what they need is a badass bass and insane vocals. then they'll be unstoppable.

  • @Wr41ght honestly.....i dont think theirs any vocals that can match this.....this is as good as it gets....dnt take it for granted....

  • @Squrtle14 mike patton could match this, and victor wooten for bass!!!!

  • @Wr41ght they have a badass bassist yo! did you have corn in your ears during 1:05?

  • @anjabenn Actually, no! They are two 8 stringed guitarists and a drummer. The 8 strings give a lot of low end, which kind of (KIND OF) sounds like a bass. They're tuned to Drop E on the 8th string, which gives the same exact note a bass in standard tuning would be playing, but you can tell there's still a lot of "fatness" missing in the sound.

For more info, check their videoclip! It's also pretty awesome.

  • @therwbrman wow! i did not know that! thanks for the info. after giving this a listen again with my bose headphones this time, i notice the lack of the "fatness" a bass would provide

  • @anjabenn No problem, glad to be of help! :D

  • @anjabenn I'm pretty sure Tosin does the bass in the studio for Animals as Leaders!!

  • i like :3

  • Thumbs up if DEVILDRIVER sent you here.

  • not to bad at all more like a dj with a guitar tho pretty good

  • That was insaine ...

  • 4:24 My favorite part. mmmm tasty

  • time signatures are ridiculous, the day i figure all of them out in the order of appearance my life will be complete!

  • @churchboy908 And over shortly.

  • I think if I tried to count the time signatures, I'd shit myself.

  • @xXKillEmAll94Xx For the most of the time it's a 9/4 rythm ;) in the first tapping part (the clean one) there are two 4/4 bars followed from a 5/4 and the other tapping part (2:15) there are 5 4/4 bars and than a 3/4 bar ;)

Sorry for geeking and nerding arround here ;)

  • @LeadersasAnimals this world needs more nerds

  • @LeadersasAnimals That's one great comment right there :D

And an excellent nickname as well

  • @LeadersasAnimals Now that I think of it, it's hard to headbang (or rave-ishly dance) to such weird time signatures xD

  • Comment removed

  • @LeadersasAnimals :D ;) :(

  • @LeadersasAnimals ahaha thanx for telling me that, seriously ive been mindfucked for weeks and now i get it :D

  • @LeadersasAnimals Hate to be the corrector, the 9/4 is right at the beginning but at the first clean guitar tapping part it's 6/4 not 5/4, everything alse is right good job

  • @MisterMinecraft7 ur right

  • @MisterMinecraft7 Sorry, but it's 5/4. I'm counting it like for 5 minutes. Or maybe I'm couting in a wrong way? ;)

  • @LeadersasAnimals holy shit tht sounds intense and hard as hell to write

  • @LeadersasAnimals Geeking and nerding is what pushes the human creativity forward, so carry on! I did that signature exam on a song by some friends that they came up with no music knowledge and it had a bunch of 17/8 13/4 4/4 5/8 bars :S:S if they had tried on purpose they would've had failed!! hahahaha.

  • Has anyone noticed that @LeadersasAnimals username is LeadersasAnimals. explains it a bit haha.

  • @LeadersasAnimals So many winks........... ;)

  • @xXKillEmAll94Xx They're not too bad actually if you count them, the only properly confusing bit is the part around 0:27, in 13.

  • @Mp5Drummer No, it's not 13. If you start counting from 0:10 (That's when the rhythm guitar kicks in with the riff) you get the following series:

    8/4 9/4 9/4 9/4 10/4

    So basically it's just 9/4 with a bit of Meshuggahesque fucking-your-brain ;)

    After 0:27, it's mostly simple 9/4.

  • @aloknikhil My mistake, I got that from a drum cover where the guy said he thought of that pattern in 13. Seemed to make sense at the time haha! Yeah I can hear it's 9 in a lot of it. Tbh I'm still pretty rubbish at recognising metres, I can write in them but awful at recognising them!

  • @Mp5Drumme Actually, you (and the guy who did the drum cover) were right - there _is_ a 13 section in this song... it starts from 1:06 and continues up to 2:16.

In a hurry I assumed that this beat was in the same signature as the one that begins at 4:00 (which is 14).

Apologies! As is evident, I'm not too good at this either - But I try to improve by analyzing Meshuggah songs... going off to try to figure out "Rational Gaze" for the gazillionth time!

  • @xXKillEmAll94Xx 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 1,2, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 1,2. just count that with the beat and you'll find thats it, at least at 27 it is lol. but it changes constantly.

  • this makes me sad....i can´t play like that at all

  • @diceasd practice until you can

  • @diceasd it shouldnt make you sad. it should inspire you to achieve new heights.

  • @groovass65 ok
