Bad quality and bad electronics? Really? Can you be more specific? I have LL P5 and P7 for almost 2 years now, dropped on concrete floor countless times head first, used in rainy seasons, and i'm talking about really out in the rain and have been using energizer lithiums ever since and nothing has ever happened to my LL's. So don't talk about LL having bad quality if you have never owned one.
What do you know about that i haven't owned a LED Lenser? I've had plenty of them, including T7, P7, P14 and some of their smaller lights. And the H7, and i've been using a H14.
The thing is that many of the lights doesn't work anymore! T7, P14 and H7 is completelt broken, from minor accidents.
About it's waterproofness: Drop it in a glass of water, give me the results.
The electronics is bad, the light is not regulated, so the light dims with it's batteries.
@MatHahogg Minor accidents? What kind of minor accident could cause a LL to fail? Falling from a 5 storey building could be one. Listen, I've dropped my LL's on a concrete floor several times and it is still working, do you even know how hard a concrete floor is? And you question it's waterproofness? Search for led lenser p5 water submersion test to see it for your self.
@MatHahogg One more thing, for your education, non regulated lights doesn't mean bad electronics. A person as old as you, I'm pretty sure you have used flashlights that uses bulbs as the light source before, you didn't complain about the light dimming because of the battery loosing it's power, have you?
The emitter is ridiculously outdated and the beam is crap. In it's size/weight range there are a multitude of much better lights for 1/2 or 1/3 the price.
It's built like a tank, but that doesn't justify tacking $50-100 onto the cost.
If Surefire would update their emitters to modern standards (XP-G, XM-L, R4+, etc) then I might consider them further.
@QuiksiIver A bit overpriced, yes. Piece of crap, hardly. The unique fully regulated twist interface is not found at this quality, if any. The emitter is fine, smooth beam profile. Only thing that would make it perfect would be a high CRI emitter in there.
SureFire thoroughly tests and research their products before releasing them to the general public and do not readily jump on the latest emitter bandwagon. Some companies jam the latest LED in their lights as soon as they come.
@LEXPIX Surefire was the best about 10 years ago. But they have not kept up with companies such as fenix. They are very durable but need to update their tech.
@dandotreillydot42058 Ahh, but wait till you see the latest offerings soon to be released. Also remember SureFire is an American company that pays their workers a lot more than the "overseas" ones that tend to copy a design and wonder why it doesn't hold up due to lack of thorough field testing. Don't get me started on the manipulation of currency either. LOL
@QuiksiIver a little over priced but far form piece of crap. I understand you might hate surefire but to call this light a piece of crap is just shows your utter ignorance regarding this product. Unless you own one and use it all the time like I do mind, you really can't give any kind of sensible evaluation of this product. I am not a surefire fan boy I can assure you. Brightest is not always best. This light is extremely function for it's size.
@QuiksiIver what alternative would you suggest? I have used surefire since before people knew what they are and have quite the collection of destroyed flashlights! I'm always open to a better beam! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
@cesarnatural This pocket light is designed for total floody high quality beam, not for distance. Also, the video captures a lot less light output than what the naked eye sees. Plenty bright, trust me.
@MatHahogg The twist switch is innovative and being a bomb proof flashlight, I agree. But 70 lumens on 1 CR123A battery in just 1 hour for the price of over $200? I would bet LED Lensers would match SureFire's quality when it comes to pocket flashlights.
It's very outdated, but you should remember this light is quite old (2007 or so)
Me myself would never buy the Titan, but it's still very innovative.
And please please, do not talk about the Led Lensers. It's a knon fact for flashaholics that Led Lenser is a company ith pretty bad quality and bad electronics compared to other lights (Fenix, Zebra, 4sevens etc)
@MatHahogg Bad quality and bad electronics? Really? Can you be more specific? @ProvidentTools No, it IS expensive. What's "innovative" of the Titan is that it has a twist type switch and nothing more and that makes it expensive. Lumens? Runtime? Emitter type? Not worth the price.
This light by far is one of the best edc lights you can by. 70 lumins is way more light than you need for 90 percent of what you do. It's not how bright this light is but the variable adjustment that is just amazing. The build on this light is incredible. You can stake your life on this light.
i guess if youve got money to spend on surefires go right ahead. i on the other hand do not have lots of money so i just buy fenix lights. to each his own eh?
@demonchacer fenix, fenix, fenix blah blah blah i wish you (fenix) owners would just get over yourself fenix never has and never will be in the same class as SureFire so quit ,stop ,halt with the B.S. and about the money im not rich or even well off but im patient i saved up and got a SureFire.....
@frenchfried100 i never said fenix were on par with surefire but their good enough. and not everyone is willing to shell out $230 which is the price of this flashlight. fenix is just an alternative thats alot cheaper
@yyyy2999 surefires are very espensive and overpassed by their competence, Ledlensers are german and less expensive, Fenix are chinese and still very good
Is that a Trek Valencia? Nice! Cool light though, but you pay a lot for the Surefire name. I just bought a NiteCore EZ AA for $50 and it's brighter, has a heat sink, current regulator, and 3 modes instead of the infinity adjust. But I'm about to acquire this Titan anyway through a trade! If I were to spend $200+ on a LED light it would be custom built or something like an Arc6.
Good eye, yup, it is the Valencia. Yeah, it is kinda spendy for a tiny light, but it is unique for its smooth, fully regulated continuous power levels.
I bought an energizer small tactical light 90 lumens for $44.00 at target and an energizer 1 watt 50 lumens for $17.00....the light you have is to expensive. I made a short video about them just to show the light output. I like surefire but man there steep on the price.
great review. I'm also a surefire fan and I got my first surefire (e2d incandescent) 2 days ago. everyone does think it's a waste of money spending that much on a flashlight but i have no regrets. it's a superb light.
By the way could you make a review of the e2d with a KX2 led head if you have one. thnx
Surefire lights are overpriced pieces of crap! $230 for this light and it only gives off 70 lumens for an hour. Thats laughable!!
Its almost 4 times more expensive than Fenix and a 3rd as bright.
The Fenix PD20 Premium Q5 is the same size same quality. It has 5 brightness modes, 9 lumens (35hrs) - 47 lumens (6.5hrs) - 94 lumens (2.6hrs) Turbo 180 lumens (1hr) ->strobe
Its powered with 1 AA battery.
Like most Fexin lights, its only $60 v.s. your inferior and overpriced $230 T1a Titan
Yeah, SF are a bit overpriced, however, the build quality and overall craftsmanship and warranty is second to none all made in the USA. Inferior would not be the word I'd use to describe SureFire products, especially compared to the Fenix brand made in China.
BTW I have MANY Fenix lights as well. The LOD CE running on 10440 is my favorite pint sized high output light. No need to put down a product or company based on your own personal experience, or lack thereof.
I have 2 surefire, and 5 Fenix lights. I understand that Fenix lights are made in China, but they are generations of technology better than Surefire. Most of the SF lights are still incandescent. The craftsmanship of the SF is superb, but for $230 it should blow away the competition but instead it doesnt even come close to cheep $15 walmart lights that run on AA batteries.
Generations ahead of Surefire, I think not. Does Fenix have a continuous variable light like the T1A, or any other company for all that matter, I think not. Do they have a fully regulated circuit controlled incan bulb? I think not. Do they even have ANY incans? I think not.
Cheap $15 Wallmart light, yeah right. I'm sure SF could easily make a AA powered light, it's technically not that hard to do, but their target market is not Wallyworld buyers. LOL
Flashlight companies DO NOT generally manufacture their own LEDs as the CREE you quoted. The circuitry, switching mechanism and case design and coating is what distinguishes one from the other. In that category alone, SureFire wins.
Surefire can easily make the brightest or the longest lasting light, but they balance run time and longevity of the LED as well as heat management.
@1NWOMD How many stories do you hear of Fenix lights surviving blasts from 50lb IEDs that destroyed M240 machine guns, how many Fenix lights do you see mounted on the rifles of Riflemen and grunts, US army and marines are all running SF M952/M962, Australian Army is running the Surefire 660, Surefire Hellfighters running on the .50cal M2 machine guns and M134 Miniguns.
The purpose of the Titan however is more so to be a luxury EDC item, which can be compared to like an expensive wrist watch.
@Roger1379 Hahaha Wow. You actually believe the product placement hype? Ther really is a sucker born every day.
You know, if their Surefire lights were brighter than a lightning bug's ass, they would have the ability to SEE and avoid the IED before taking casualties that left them dead, injured and defenseless.
The sad thing is, you actually brag about Surefizzle’s *COST PLUS* military contracts to waste $Billions of our $taxe$.
You want them to rob you. O PLEASE SUREFIRE!! STEAL MORE $!
@1NWOMD I could also say the same thing about Fenix lights, eg "Why waste $60 on a Fenix when a $10 Ultrafire or Akoray flashlight can put out the same amount of light, you're wasting your money, oh fenix steal more $ etc", the answer would be better quality in construction and design from a more reputable company.
@Roger1379 No you CANT!!! With Fenix Ultrafire, Akoray, Maglight, Pelican Aurora and most other flashlights YOU GET WHAT YOU FUCKING PAY FOR!!!! Surefire puts out a $60 flashlight but charges $300 for the name!!!! I have had 4 overpriced Surefire pieces of shit from the military and I would trade them all for my brighter $10 1AA 150 Lumen Aurora CREE XLE .
$54 Fenix Digital LD10-R4 1 AA - 132 Lumens 1.5hrs
@1NWOMD I agree with the Titan being over priced for what it does, I've been completely happy with the others. Eg Surefire C2, I got it for $70, made in USA, I can choose the drop-in that suits my needs whether it's a 65lumen incan, 350 lumen incan, 600 lumen XM-L T6, 200 lumen R2. I've tried a Fenix L2D, it was okay for general use but didn't like the interface, my Quark kept going to turbo mode with a touch of the bezel. They cost alot more because the workers get paid more than $10 a day.
@1NWOMD What do you suggest is a better option for weapon mounted lights to save money? a TK40 duct-taped to a .50cal machine gun? What happens when you need infra-red light? And the DoD would need to purchase 3 million M952s for it to cost 1 billion.....
@Roger1379 IF you dont like the Fenix L2D try the Nitecore D10. Its about the same price and you might like the interface better.
As for mounting a 600 Lumen light...get 2 TK12s mounted with 1in scope rings.
I understand Surefire workers get paid $10+. Fine. Would gladly pay more for “Made in USA” IF Surefire produced a superior light. NOT one that has less than half the output, shorter burn times with a more powerful yet more expensive battery.
Hang in there Lexpix - you are right on. I have TWO T1As...and have never regretted it. typically those who protest so much never had one of the good ones, but wish they had. Real quality is never cheap, and I am willing to pay more for an American made product.
There are also people who just don't understand what goes into making lights like this, or good knives, or nice pens, etc. I bought a pair of *cheap* binoculars once and the cashier commented on how expensive they were. It was a pair of low-end Bushnells, 10x25, and cost $21, IIRC. If I'd told her that there are some that go into the thousands of dollars she'd have passed out at her register.
@CanItAlready With my dad and his friends they are all big hunters they all carry sworoskis if thats how it spelled they cost around 1200 dollar a pop the quality on those things blows my mind though it's like seeing but better

$54 Fenix Digital LD10-R4 1 AA - 132 Lumens 1.5hrs
vs
$240 Surefire T1A Titan 1 CR123- 70 lumens 1hr PATHETIC! SF= $190 WASTED

Roger1379 1 year ago
@Roger1379 IF you dont like the Fenix L2D try the Nitecore D10. Its about the same price and you might like the interface better.
As for mounting a 600 Lumen light...get 2 TK12s mounted with 1in scope rings.
I understand Surefire workers get paid $10+. Fine. Would gladly pay more for “Made in USA” IF Surefire produced a superior light. NOT one that has less than half the output, shorter burn times with a more powerful yet more expensive battery.

The perfect EDC. The only drawback is the price of replacing it if lost. I rotate it with other lights in my EDC as of late.

awesome! I couldn't use a torch that expensive for edc though, couldn't bare to scratch it

It's pretty tough, but I still baby it when I do decide to EDC it.

Hang in there Lexpix - you are right on. I have TWO T1As...and have never regretted it. typically those who protest so much never had one of the good ones, but wish they had. Real quality is never cheap, and I am willing to pay more for an American made product.

@run4jc
