  • Lol, if that dumb Fox exec. wanted "energetic" he should have called central casting and asked for "Energetic Spokesman Guy". They asked for DeNiro and that's who they got.

  • I'm not sellin cars ok hahahaahh owned

  • Smooth way to send someone to piss off.

  • DeNiro did a fine job. If he didn't get a little pissed when nobodies tried to tell him what to do, he wouldn't be a somebody. His bread and butter is based on his demeanor. He isn't going to stand there and be corny. First off, this promo is probably something that he considered a pain in the ass to film. He's a movie star, not some car salesman, and they drag him away from his work for this little promo shoot, and bust his balls? I respect his response. He is no pushover.

  • you don't hire DeNiro if you want energetic, happy salesman.

  • natural.. hehe

  • hahahaa.. robert is the absolute best...and this is no different from his acting.,.. exactly the same.. that's why he is such a great actor..

  • i thought i would change my opinion of him watching this video and i did hes a bloody legend

  • youve got to remember this is circa cape fear what a bunch of peshaduns eh?

  • It takes a LOT of balls to tell Robert De Niro how to deliver a line...

  • 00:27 "No. Sorry. I'm not selling cars OK?". In other words:

"Don't tell me how to do my job BECAUSE you're inadvertedly asking me to behave like a car salesman, not like an actor."

Which part of that are people unclear on?

  • The guy lipping off to him is right, there is no energy. But..... why did they pick Deniro if they wanted him to be vibrant and hokey? Like Deniro put it, he's not a car salesman.

  • haha great clip

  • how could u not like this dude??

  • The freaking guy is a legend, I think he did it the "Deneiro" way, which everyone knows him for

  • Im sorry! I got-- uh thats energetic you uh you don't know what your talkin about. Yes! 'Scuse me. LOL He is my husband.

  • i have to disagree, that wasnt energetic at all. but let deniro do it the way he wants to do it, especially when hes promoting his own thing, tribeca.

  • piss off

  • He should of busted a chair over Deniro big head , you might never work again but what a great story for the grand kids LOL

  • He should have said: COUNSLEOOOOR????? COUUUNNNSELOOOR...

  • 30 years of films and 2 academy awards-I think De Niro knows how to do it.

  • I agree with De Niro, that was energetic.

  • hahah, at his stage in the game he can do whatever he wants. noone is telling him shit anymore

  • hahaha Deniro's like "tha fuck outta hearrrrrr"

  • They are paying him a lot of money just to talk. And why can't they ask Deniro to do another take?

  • @homer0383 The director sure can. Read userroom2011's comment

  • this was supposed to run on fox as a promo sweep..him saying "this tuesday on fox" doesn't sound too appealing. I understand hes a legendary actor..but him finishing his sentence didn't seem like an invite, more like a statement..

  • De Niro - Im not sellin cars ok?

Youtube video ends and pop up for related videos = Robert De Niro sells cars!

  • When De Niro directed The Good Shepherd he told the actors to give more understated performances, and told Matt Damon he thought most people overact (incuding succesful actors).

I think the whole thing about what it really means to give an energetic performance is important to him.

  • De Niro is responding to a Fox marketing executive, NOT the director. De Niro asks the director if he needs another shot, the director says he doesn't, and then the bitch marketing guy from Fox decides he wants to give De Niro an acting lesson. Given the circumstances, I'd say De Niro's response was quite subdued.

  • @RollingOrmond do you even know how wrong you acctually are lmfao! maybe you should watch some of his movies rather than clips that make you think that

  • @RollingOrmond lol yeah i know what u mean there thats a funny stare mate but thts onli on gufellas an casino really

  • @RollingOrmond no he dosent for example point out a time in taxi driver or godfather two raging bull were he does it and there not same character and for sum1 who thinks hes borin u seen a lot of him

  • @RollingOrmond its not like a frown in casino n tht tho is it, am not even gonna argue with you mate ya well funny lmfao

  • Director eyes only . next time you get a actor like this big headed pussy ,you slam his head on the desk and tell him he's just a pussy actor . You might never work again ,but what a story for the grand kids :) bobby have some balls and answer me ,once in a while.

  • Are you talking to me?

  • Would you argue with this guy?

  • its a fuckin commericial! thank you mr deniro.

  • To be fair, could have used a little more energy.

  • Director eyes only >next time you get a big headed bitch actor like this ,you say do it the way I want or this chair will go over your fucken head ! you might never work again ,but what a story for the grand kids :)

  • Obviously DeNiro has the disposition of: "You're lucky I'm even doing this." and the director wants "More energy" DeNiro had every right to do what he did, He made himself into what he is today. Actors are primadonnas and like old codgers, get set in their ways and aren't used to getting told no. They'e fucking pampered.Schwarzenegger is infamously known for plugging and if the price is right, he'd sell Fox's cars!

  • This is what is commonly known as irony - taking the piss. Anyone who can't recognize that should be excused from watching any of De-Niro's films.

  • Holy ****! He turned into Jimmy Conway. He wasn't acting in Goodfellas. That was just DeNiro!!!

  • Ah,look at him.God's gift to humanity. The world's biggest and best actor.Oh,I am sorry,he is the universe's most talented actor...Filmes are fun.You got to a film, have two hours of fun.You come home, life goes on as usual. So what?Don't think to highly of yourself, asshole. If I had the shot,I would like to tie your wife to a tree and then procced to wrestle you, both of us naked,in the ground, and then humiliate you in front of her eyes. All your greatness shoved in your asshole with my finger.Die.

  • @marciopasiotto Watch your mouth, unless you wanna get whacked.

  • MORONS here that say he is an actor and supposed to work for the director: That's horseshit. He is not acting. He is playing himself, Robert DeNiro, describing his own project. He doesn't want to over sell it, he NEVER oversells himself. Watch him in ANY interview, EVER. He is playing himself, inviting the audience to watch his project and you people think he needs to scream TUESDAYS ON FOX like some cartoon character.

  • "I'm not selling cars OK"

  • I liked this take, no need to over act on a second one.

  • I do believe that this particular clip was intended as a joke and not to be taken seriously.

  • The director got clipped after this.

  • He's the greatest, but I should admit this take was not quite energetic. Guess he was in a bad mood. That happens.

  • This what you call and out of control big headed ,short fuck , Bobby when you doing dancing with the stars ? CHA CHA CHA

  • I love Robert DeNiro don't get me wrong, but he really didn't seem that enthusiastic. He kind of rattled it off like he didn't give a fuck. "Let me say this, and then I gotta go.".

  • @TheKingOfRuckus He's DeNiro. He does it his way. You don't fuck with DeNiro.

  • Bobby you big Fanook fish face fag

  • Tell him Deniro

  • Director eyes only... do it again bob before I break a chair over your fucking melon head ..... thats how its done , you might never work again ,but what a great story for the grand kids LOL

  • haha "Im not selling cars" well in the late 60s he did so he knows the score

  • you dont tell de niro how to act. you just dont.

  • "This time, Mr. DeNiro, could we have a little less Vito Corleone and a little more Rupert Pupkin?"

  • I think he knows what energy is. He is THE actor of a generation. He is such a wonderful man.

  • how the FUCK can he ask DeNiro to redo that.. Who the FUCK he was thinkin he was???

  • ahh velly goo, rabat deenerro piss off

  • You looking at me?

    You looking at me?

Well, I don't see anybody else here...

  • @000100010 It's "You talkin' to me?" not "You lookin' at me?"

  • LMAO put that in your resume.. "DeNiro once told me I did not know what I was doing". Now I direct local TV commercials in Alaska for a living

  • Hz's completely and utterly right of course. That moron 'director' should shut the fuck up.

  • Director eyes only , next time you get a big wig like this melon head ,, you say, do it again until I say its good because your nothing but a dumb ass actor thats told and feed lines even when to take a crap ! and that is how its done . P.S. You might never work again but the grand kids will have a great story !

  • A Bob your nothing but a pussy actor now do it again before I crack a chair over that melon head ! and thats the way you talk to a bloated mother fucka !

  • director was sold a car then whacked shortly after

  • @equalityftw GOOD one! LMAO.

...and for some reason, Cream's "Sunshine of My Love" was playing in the background ...

  • I was expecting him to shave his head and attack a senator.

  • I don't understand why people are criticising De Niro. We don't know how many takes have been done before this, or how the whole shoot has been handled.

So all we have to go on is our opinion whether Oscar Winner Actor Robert De Niro knows more about performance than a jobbing director who can only get a gig directing commercials for Fox.

I know who I respect more.

  • what a dick..

  • ??That was pissed off. C'mon. It's Deniro. I tho0ught he was gonna go after the guy with a baseball bat, shove an ice pick in the back of the head or something. "I'm sorry... you don't know what you're talking about."??? Robert, this is the kind of tantrum I'd expect from Haley Joel Osment. I am sadly disappointed in your lack of commitment. You could take some pointers from Lily Tomlin. I'm gonna look for vids of Pesci getting pissed on set. Maybe he knows how to do it.

  • @IYAMNI lol there not really like that in real life there actors who play tough gangsters

  • @LongLiveTheBlues Thanks, but I do recall a hint of facetiousness when I wrote that. ;-)

  • this is EXACTLY like what his character did in the movie Showtime hahaha

  • The director was right. DeNiro sounded like he was asleep. It's a shame when prima donnas are too good to take constructive criticism. Especially since he asked "Was that all right?"

  • Yes he is a great actor, and he can be as creative and imaginative as he wants to create how he feels a character should be. But to me, the first rule in acting is always listen to the director. It's their vision, even if it is just a simple advert or something. The actor is under their employment and refusing to do what the director says like this, personally seems a little rude and self important. By all means discuss something you don't feel is quite right, but don't just flat out refuse.

  • Somebody got out of bed on the wrong side that morning.

  • Hahaha... "I'm sorry, that's energetic!"... If Mr. De Niro wants to be a primadonna, he should wear a tutu more often.

  • Comment removed

  • My thought is this: De Niro is known off camera for being soft spoken and quiet. Being "energetic" as the director wanted would've come across as unnatural.

  • DeNiro can basically do whatever he wants. Acting legends earned it. Having said that he could have been a little nicer about it. A simple "No" would probably suffice. =o)

  • @espdemon yeah is a *acting legend*, but that does not give him power over others that he thinks he is better than.. thats called bigotry and im not up for that

  • @BardocksSynphony well it was either that way or he would prefere not at all, hes a method actor he only does perfection

  • @BardocksSynphony well see it from the other side...the fox channel are trying to make of him a commercial man who talks like : HEEEEY THIS IS FOX WOHOOO.. i mean come one, de niro was doin what he supposed to do, no more no less...there is nothing about power or something like that...everybody who knows robert de niro or his career, knows also that de niro is a really nice guy and not arrogant or a guy who uses his powers on people, not at alllll

  • @espdemon well maybe you are right, but we coudnt see the face of the guy who de niro was talking with...so dont let us ignore the non-verbal-communication... maybe the guy has a rare body language and de in any case de niro was there and we were not..o maybe he had a simple bad day something else..what the heck!!!!!!

  • @espdemon What?? You honestly believe a blatant "No." is less rude than "No, I'm sorry, I'm not doing that."???

  • @leirgauk Well, he didn't end it there, he started talking about selling cars.
