drac started to empale cos him and his bro were sodomised and became the turks bitches. Especially his bro. whn drac was back with his romanians he was just pissed at being raped so he started to empale everyone. I can see where the mythical being dracula came from, what with the garlic, stakes, dark, satan etc, some of my friends are romanian, i call them the ''dracs''. They're cool, stupid but cool.
This documentary has great content but the editing is horrific. The music in the background makes it sound like an episode of Amazing Race, not to mention the clips of the narrator walking fast for effect but completely ignoring the sights behind him. It's almost like they are trying to make sure that we don't lose attention, whereas the constant shouting narration and music is doing just that.
Though they mentioned that Vlad lubed the impaling spears and that they were purposefully blunt, they neglect to mention that the stakes were inserted anally, the victims body weight slowly driving it through them.If you were a light skinny person it would take you far longer to die from this punishment compared to an overweight person,I wonder if he starved them for a few months on purpose to get their body weight down so as to extend the agony?
his cruelty was legendary and his reign was terrible yes but keep in mind he learned these tactics at the hands of the turks when he was a captive and he used them to practically eliminate crime to punish criminals and defend his land from invasion
They don't bother to add that many of these are legends or lies spread by his foreign enemies and only briefly mention that to the Romanian people he is a hero. Why is that I wonder? Because of "his blood-lust" and cruelty to his own people? Gimme a break! Typical american sensationalism it disgusts me.
I'm fuckin pissed of at the way Vlad is portrayed as a blood thirsty savage murderer who enjoyed killing. Using phrases like "his reign of terror" , "he watched as the impaled slowly died" and "leaving a path of destruction in his own homeland" HELLO!! It's called medieval warfare. It's not like he is the only one who employed this tactic.
@88mici88 - that, plus their own cultures are still invading other lands and killing civilians in their hundreds of thousands to this day. and also often mistreating their own people.
@88mici88 Vlad was a terrible human being that was responsible for the deaths of thousands but you are right in saying that he isn't the only one responsible. Those people wouldn't have died unless his people were willing to impale them, or to sharpen the instruments or pick out the victims. But stating that it is medieval warfare doesn't make it right or less horrific, regardless of the context. Still a terrible person who watched and instigated human suffering.
@pinkbambi13 How was he different from any other leader in human history? Every leader who ever lived made decisions that caused the deaths of countless people more or less directly. I'm not saying he wasn't harsh but those were harsh times. And saying that his people were terrible human beings is like saying that the human race is cruel and terrible for all the wrongs it has done which I completely agree but that only strengthens the point that they weren't any different from the rest of us.
