  • Nice to see you're autocrossing your conversion. Really shows that you're developing some skills that showcase the car's maeuverability vs just mashing the accelerator pedal like for a quarter-mile. I just started taking my 944/LSX out to AX runs - will actually be going up to warminster this weeked

  • I could be wrong but...

A rotating body's tendency is to rotate about its center of mass. If you move the center of mass forwards (heavier, further forward engine), you will increase oversteer. The center of mass is further forward, so it wants to rotate around a point forward of its previous location. Not only that, but you are adding weight to the tires required for steering.

Just saying... besides, it looks rather tail-happy to me.

Also, rotaries are heavy by design. :)

  • I'm a rotorhead but you handle that thing like it's got a rotary heart nice work guy

  • this was in 06 i hope you painted the car by now

  • Revisiting this video...for those who (remarkably intelligently) tried to note that this car, with it's massively heavy dinosaur V8 is understeering all over the place (or as it was eloquently put, is "having an understeer")...

...kindly watch the video. I'm seeing the butt end fly around quite a bit here.

  • @pomegranatesix actually the LS1 doesnt weigh that much more than a fully loaded 13B...its not the weight that throws the balance off, its where its mounted. the LS1 has to be mounted much further forward than the beer keg the car originally comes with.

  • actually the ls1 is 40lbs lighter than the 13b with accesories

  • how much was the ls1 motor? ive had this idea for a while and now i seen it in action gj man=]

  • $5000 or so, including shipping.

  • hey how much was your ls1 motor.. ive had this idea for a long time n this is the first time i seen it in action gj =]

  • jegaslim: Yeah, I'm the driver.

    Aireyc: Yep.

  • have you weighed them peanutwrx02

  • LS1 more reliable than 13b FTW. I'll take a LS1 thank you. Car looks like a blast to drive. Thumbs up on the swap

  • 13b's can last into 300,000 miles just to let you know...

  • ROFL!! Oh I have no doubt that they can last to 300,000 but after how many rebuilds? 50? How many seals you replacing?? Riiiight.

  • My odometer reads 232,000 miles, I'm just now coming close to rebuilding it. But the previous owners semi-abused it. I have drift damage towards the back of my car as well. :(

  • @4drspeed lol? mine has 250,000 original KM and it works fine

  • theres no way a v8 ways only 20 pounds more than a 13b then u say if u add the two turbos that the are prob equal...thats like sayin a pushbike ways 20 pounds less then a harley and thats without the pedals...

  • Go weigh both engines yourself then......and let us know when you prove yourself wrong.

  • and its further back on the fire wall too.

  • ROLF. 13b motor sits lower haha...less understeer rolf

  • ROLF.This guy went backwards. The LS1 engine is a lot heavier than a 13B. If you notice the car is having an understeer.

  • Fail. 20 pounds difference in weight, especially if you factor in the fact that the FD has twin turbos.

  • That's in Frederick, MD right? I took my rx-8 there.

  • look like u love that car, r u the driver in the vid ?
