3:36 - 3:40 Ouch. Just to clarify: Kim learned guitar when she was 13 years-old and was recording her own songs at home on a reel-to-reel she set up herself, making her own patch cables, etc. by the time she was 17. She & her sister used to play in bars around Ohio at that same time. She was a player and a gearhead long before she joined the Pixies.
A big Pixies fan. BUT I'm pissed that they bailed and didn't lead the way. Two decades of garbage aholes ripping off their stuff. When they could have been moving things forward.
Love ya, always will, but for f*ck sake DO SOMETHING!
@guanjon Well Kim never picked up a bass guitar before - he made a small mistake, he was pretty smooth with the whole "hat" thing, it seemed like a good interview to me.
Its amazing how incredibly normal, grounded, unpretentious, self-deprecating this guy is who basically was the forerunner and monumental influence on seminal bands like Nirvana and Radiohead and a myriad others. Here he is talking about hummus, and it reminded me of that arrogant Billy bob Thorton interview, and how I imagine him talking like "hummus? would you ask the beatles ot bob dylan about hummus? And that's a guy whose biggest accomplishment is banging Anjelina Jolie and he is pretentiou
the pixies are like the ramones, cuz also the ramones werent given their due respect in their time, especially in the u.s., it had to take years for ppl to come around to understand the genius of that band. Thats how the pixies are ,ppl get them now, which normally means that a band was way before their time.
i really don't see why people are taliking shit about nirvana, it;s not like kurt, krist or dave aren't fans of the pixies they said in many interviews that they were big fans of them and the breeders even toured with them. to say nirvana are overrated is so stupid and shows how much you know about the band.
Love the Pixies, years and years underrated band, finally now having thebenifits they deserved. Nirvana... c'mon guys, you have to admit Nirvana is a little "Media Overrated"
Even in E! entretainment Television they talk a bout Kurt and Nirvana.
@bubblepopelictric nah its great - i like the feel of loving something not many people know about, it makes me think Im in on something and everyone else is missing out :)
@bubblepopelictric-Yeah its bad luck but truth is Pixies were around about 4 years too early and Nirvana stole the fame, but at least Kurt admitted he based his band on Pixies and Pixies where his best band,So if you look it at it Nirvana wouldnt even exist without the Pixies.
@bubblepopelictric Why does it matter? I love Nirvana and the Pixies. I think Nirvana are perfectly rated as a band but I mean at the end of the day who gives a fuck?
Best songwriter and leader of the greatest American rock band ever! I'm just mystified why he refuses to make another Pixies record now that the band is reconvened and so utterly adored.
Frank Black is the greatest. Looks younger now than he did in 2004 too. Must be the weight loss. Looks a bit like Jack Nicholson wearing those sunnies.
I got to meet Frank before a show two months ago. He was totally cool and I got to hang out with him and his wife Violet for a few minutes. He was really nice and down to earth.
good idea to hold interview inside a van but at lease they should stop in nice place , i mean ,comon look atthe background behind its just trrible view
Don't quite understand the hate coming from AndyDude22, I thought it was a good interview. The interviewer didn't interrupt or ask stupid questions too often, and Black seems a pretty down to earth guy.
There's nothing to understand, the internet is relatively unfiltered and therefore fair-minded people are confronted with the dregs of society, especially where messages can be posted.
