@Commadore64@BIGASSMOFO16 PTH doesn't even come close to being as musically diverse and talented as Sikth. And don't get me wrong, I LOVE PTH. Kezia is up there on my favorite albums, especially lyrically in it's concept, but also being crazy technically proficient. But when it comes to overall music talent? Sikth was doing this before anyone else, and basically invented Djent style guitar playing, before anyone else had scratched the surface.

@Cammadore64 How do you feel about BTBAM? They are prettttty friggin sick too. And very technical. Been working on the rhythmn for Obfuscation for a long while now, up to about 2:30 in. THAT is ridonkulous.

Protest is far more technical tbh... Sikth has some sweet off time shit and some great breakdowns. But PTH doesn't really do breakdowns... they just wail on the guitar. Rody hands down has better clean vocals so that isn't even a question. Screaming is comparable.
@BIGASSMOFO16 Comparing Protest the Hero to Sikth is very insulting. I enjoyed Protest in high school, still do, but they were intro level technical metal. Sikth goes so far beyond them it's not even funny. You don't need to do melodic minor sweeps and diminished runs every 5 seconds to be technical. Moe and Tim can't hold a candle to Pin and Dan. Also I find Sikth's screaming and dual vocal style to be more dynamic than Rody's singing. But that's just opinion.

@IGNsucks He's right though, a lot of music is comparison. If you go on a lot of progressive metal videos, you find comments comparing it to Meshuggah. Sure the guitar playing and the vocal can be compared, but you're right, since it's not 100% identical, it's not 100% correct. It's still somewhat nice to apply a new band to something you've listened to for a while, right? "This new band sounds so much like this other band, but it's more technical / less technical!"

@EllaMews I think it comes down to this for me. I could play most of Kezia and Fortress when I was 19 on guitar and drums. I still can't come close to playing most of Sikth on guitar, and some of the drum work is ridiculous.You must not play guitar or you'd be aware of how much more technical Sikth is. You have no clue.
@Cammadore64 I dunno about that. I listened to Sikth more and I agree they are good technically but... guitars seem to be playing the same riffs far more often than PTH. That was my initial observation. Arif is rape on bass too and I like his style much better. I like Rody's singing just because it has such great range and power. I prefer Sikth screaming, but their clean vocals mostly sound whiny and I don't like that the music sort of simplifies for a lot of the clean vocal (chorus peep show)
@Cammadore64 You know. Actually they are very hard to compare. Just heard Summer Rain again and yeah... I think Sikth wins out on certain songs, but overall i'd say PTH is. Regardless they are both fantastic bands and both very talented. BTBAM, SikTh and PTH should have a three-way and produce some kind of child of awesomeness.
After listening to quite a few songs by these guys, I have to admit they have alot of talent with their riffs and melodies, but the high pitched crazy yoda death screams are just not my cup of tea. I don't mind listening to some of their songs, I like parts of others, and I want to steer clear of the rest. Just trying to find more music to throw into my iTunes.

On another note you guys should check out Aliases, with Pin in it. The other members of Sikth are also worth tracking down, as I'm pretty sure they're still active.
I would definately agree with the fack that his voice sounds similar to the vocalist from korn, which isn't a bad thing it goes really well with the music. You can't forget about Psyopus either, Arpmandude's got some serious chops.

I was fortunate enough to see them on their last ever tour (about 2 gigs before their final ever shoew) and it was fucking amazing. I have two vids from that gig on my youtube if you want to see. They were immense and I wish they would come back and take music by the balls again!
Justin sounds fantastic in this song and is a big reason why Sikth (one of my favorite bands) has as much listenability as they do. Don't get me wrong, its the Mikee Goodman show 70% of the time, but Justin's soaring and airy vocals are a must have.

Like the difference of a bassline that matches the rhythmn guitar and one that is it's own thing but works. Two different lyrical styles anyway. "Controlled" is probably not the word you want to use. His range is ridiculous and he uses it to a great advantage. Different power levels in there too. Tongue Splitter, 2:49, nice example of some tough and controlled vocals.

I was fortunate enough to see them on their last ever tour (about 2 gigs before their final ever shoew) and it was fucking amazing. I have two vids from that gig on my youtube if you want to see. They were immense and I wish they would come back and take music by the balls again!

Justin sounds fantastic in this song and is a big reason why Sikth (one of my favorite bands) has as much listenability as they do. Don't get me wrong, its the Mikee Goodman show 70% of the time, but Justin's soaring and airy vocals are a must have.

Seriously,PTh aren't even like SikTh.Sure they are both technical and innovative but different by miles.
IMO,PTH's vocalist is nothing compared to these guys.Its not controlled and he just sings where he so chooses,and as much as you want to say "its cause your musically experienced to understand it",its just plain unorganized in some cases and doesn't go with what the others do.Im not saying they suck,but stop this whole PTH vs. Sikth thing

@crow66693 Lolwut. Wherever he wants? Okay buddy. Why should lyrics follow the music so hard? Like the difference of a bassline that matches the rhythmn guitar and one that is it's own thing but works. Two different lyrical styles anyway. "Controlled" is probably not the word you want to use. His range is ridiculous and he uses it to a great advantage. Different power levels in there too. Tongue Splitter, 2:49, nice example of some tough and controlled vocals.

The music has so much potential, and the singing is great, until he starts trying to sound like a wannabe Jon Davis, which is 75% of their songs. What a disapointment.
