My sister was working at an Ad agency in the '60's and came home one day, thrilled to tell me about a new TV show they were working on featuring a rock group that was "better than the Beatles..." She couldn't wait to watch the premiere of The Monkees with me to get my opinion. Imagine our shared anticipation, and the huge let-down when we finally saw the show. They tried so hard to out-cute "A Hard Days Night" for the sponsers, but were doomed to failure.
HA! Davey had more swagger than any other short man in history! Pimpin' waaay before Katt Williams fo' SHO! ...And I never noticed before this how much he reminds me of Tom Cruise (well pre-"crazy" Cruise, anyway... from the "Risky Business" era. Reckon that might have had some added influence on Tom's popularity?)
RE : " Mickey knocks the spare set of drumsticks off the front drums which fall at Mikes feet, and this is what makes Mike step to the side. All very smooth and professional I must say :) " - petalrs 23 hours ago
From Yes Dave - Wow ! I did not notice that until got your response to my comment Mickey taps Michael on the rear with his sticks causing Mike to move over. You are right the drumsicks fall of and causes Mike to move over !
Mickey Dolenz ( drummer ) taps Michael Nesmith ( guitarist ) on the rear with his right drumstick several times at 1:02 minutes, Michael looks down and moves over , Lol
@RedTurt1 - Good one ' Monkey -ing around ' Lol . I just love these songs, many have not heard since a kid and when I hear them it's like Yes ! I remember that. Godbless. 11/13/11 , From David K. Yesdave2002 .... " I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly." - Jesus Christ
@yesdave2002 Mickey knocks the spare set of drumsticks off the front drums which fall at Mikes feet, and this is what makes Mike step to the side. All very smooth and professional I must say :)
Mike looks like he's obviously having fun, Micky's incredibly happy, Peter's playing the keyboard in a cool fashion, and Davy's dancing skills top any dancer. Yes he has killer moves
@Aurinia87 I'm sure it is. I think by changing the pitch slightly one can get around the WMG bots that look for music to yank from YouTube. Down with WMG!!!
@teejay190de Isnt he great! I could watch him dance in this video for hours! I wonder if he dances like this still, in their recent concerts? Could anyone let me know?
@Tilley0725 That would have been just amazing to see - you're v lucky! Do you know any of his dancing which have made it onto YouTube at all? Isnt he great!!!!
You gotta check out the Liverpool Five tune "She's" on U Tube. Boyce and Hart had heard that and wrote a different tune with almost the same title. The Monkees recorded in the same studio as the LP5 ( RCA in LA) and also that's where they first heard " I'm not your stepping stone" and decided to do their own version.
Yeah, this is the one with Gen Burkhalter in it. It sounds exactly like the stereo version to me. Play it. My fave is the 45 mix, but my fave album version is the mono mix!

@UpRoaryus Well, they are both short--I think both of their heads are a bit bigger than their bodies are, proportionally.
(This was a strange reply, wasn't it? lol.)

"The Card Carrying Red Shoes" November 6, 1967
1967 Peter is the target of a romantic prima ballerina (Ondine Vaughn)—and a dastardly plot choreographed by the rest of the ballet company.
