I'm pretty sure that this was taped at Perth's Capitol theatre sometime in 1966. Unfortunately the Capitol was demolished in the 70's and I was too young to ever go there. TVW 7 taped a memorable Normie Rowe concert there around the same time but I fear this has been wiped as I haven't seen it for many years.
@spider15able - a very small 17 second excerpt from "Fool, Fool, Fool" is located at 4:40 on " Australian Music Stars of the 60's - Vol 5 ", recorded in 1987
I have just located a better quality 1981 broadcast of the same special, and am in the process of uploading it. Hopefully your father on bass may be clearer in the 1981 broadcast copy. Cheers
Ray was one of my best friends and lover..He was the nicest person one could know.....I went with him to his gigs and he was always happy.
He was the most tidiest man I knew & he loved his big old white car to bits!
He was always the perfect gentleman and we spoke often on the phone after I moved away from Sydney.....Not long before Ray passed, he told me on the phone that both his parents had died within a year of each other....They lived at Noraville on the Central Coast..R.I.P. Ray xx
Yes I met him with a musician friend. He invited us to his house and yes he was so tidy and organised! He showed me his album collection and was very kind. What a legend! I'm so glad I met Ray Brown! Makes me sad too, wish he was still here...
Man I've been wanting DESPERATELY for years to know who sang this beautiful song.I heard this probably 20 years ago on the radio on a show called jukebox saturday night .I tell ya what I always thought t'was an american band from the 50's.I take my hat off to the internet ,YOUTUBE & technology.GOD BLESS
how neat is this, sure makes today bands look and sound second hand, same ol same ol these days, but this time and period had pure Magic all arround the music whenever you played or heard it, just electric times for teens and music in australia..cant go back but music can learn from these times and aussie bands thats whats missing......
I used to see him walk through kingsford in the 60's boy did the girls young and old blow a fuse.saw them live not bad actually pretty good live we had great music here in those days the equal of any any where else in the world
yes i would love to see 20 miles or fool fool fool on video ,i have the singles,he was a pretty cool person with a good band i believe he has past away now i was told??
Great song-Billy J Kramer's was the best. Gotta say though, the vocals suck big time on this version. I'm not sure if it's because it's totally live and it's hindering him or if that's just how he sings.

jukemann1 2 years ago
Hi Robert
The quality is a little bit better than this, the video format is a full 4.9 presentation.
The other bands include Max Merrit, Billy Thorpe, Jade hurley and many more. If you are interested in a copy let me know.

mark is it possible 2 restore music videos like this one
jukemann1 2 years ago
There is a possibility it could be done. I haven't really tried. You could try to sharpen the image and alter the brightness and contrast.

It's probably because it is live and pretty noisy so might have affected his performance not bad never the less considering the time period..

Excellent ...... I'm not fussy about the quality ...my memory is not quite so hazy.
Thanks for another great clip Sallie.
Talk about an upbeat version though.....
