this guy is freaking amazing! his tone is amazing, he can tongue faster than a freaking hummingbird's wings, he has amazing technical ability, and even as a straight male, I can tell that he could be viewed as attractive.
@Euphonerd of course, that's only because a hummingbird's wings cannot tongue. Besides, Czardas only requires average double-tonguing proficiency. I've even played this piece on a contrabass tuba. If you really want to hear Childs excel with tonguing, watch the video of him performing Brillante by Graham. (It's sloppy in that video, but you get a real sense of just how fast he can go)
David Childs is one of the most amazing players in the world. But of course it is work, work and utter work. But if you don't have inspiration from home or most of all, backup, you will never be as good. I known Davids father through some brass band stuff, and he allways said to David. Have you practiced your 3 hours to day? To wich he usually replied, 4 hours dad! :-)
to all euphonium players: David Childs is not amazing because he's from a family of amazing players. he's amazing cause he worked his ass off to be where he is, and is still working. I'm from Oregon, a very un-musical state, and I have aspirations to play professionally. All it is is hard work! You (we) can all do whatever we want!
He is definitely awesome!!! I mean, I want to be able to play as good as him but that'll never happen cuz he is AWESOME!!!!!!! I WISH I could play like him!! I'm not even close but then again I am only in 7th grade.
@jennyjh1221 <--- this kind of person is the kind of people who become good players. Not the kids who play their instrument for 5 years without ever hearing an amazing player so they have no idea what their instrument can sound like.
@sjaelewikser it's written by Vittorio Monti, but if you type Sean Walker trombone in the Google searchbar and click on the first link, there will be a link to download the solo pdf file for free!

Wow. Great piece, and an excellent interpretation by all the performers. I have to say, though, I did not enjoy this as much as Baddsvic's performance on the tuba. Now THAT, was impressive, AND enjoyable.
i seriously would be happy if 'theuphoniumguy' was as good as he says he is, because i think the instruments needs to be shared to the rest of the world and we need good players to do this. the problem i hav with him is is arogance and cockyness,

Euph Guy, please, for the love of god, leave your dick swinging contests for another time and place. David Childs is, IMO, the best Euphonium player in the world with only Steven Mead, Michael Dodds and James Fieldhouse even getting close to him.

@brassrulz: I've seen and heard TheEuphoniumGuy play in person, and he can do the things he says he can do. He's also a decent writer(or what ever the word is; not a music guy, here).
@TheEuphoniumGuy: Justin, your abilities are impressive, for your age, but there are still much better players out there(i.e. PROFESSIONALS, which you are not), so you don't have much room to "swing your dick," as Musicalrentboy says. Just make the fucking video, and be done with it.

As for all of the other players saying comments such as "im an above average player after etc etc years", i must say please take that chat somewhere else for it is extremely immature. You should not brag about 3 years of playing and knowing your theory (i.e. scales)
how old r u? 14 ive been playing euphonium for about 1.2 years now.i was taught by my church director along with about another 6 kids for free. i still go to practice twice a week but i admit it im waaaaaaaaaaaay above avrage. i play in the school band theyve all been playing for 3 years and i am sure i could hav matched them after 3 months after i started playing at most. please post a response to this vid and play one of the hardest songs you can play i want to c how other above avrg guys play
um, there are 12 major scales, and 12 minor scales. That makes 24 scales. You cant count melodic minor and harmonic minor as being different. they are only different by a single note or two, and even then just a half step.
And, you cant write a solo of a song thats already written. you can arrange, thats much different.
And lets just point out that claims you make have absolutely no validity unless you can back them up.
euphonium playing like all instruments, arent just about scales i doubt u can triple tounge duoble tounge and have a good range (both pedal notes and high notes) but the most important part is ur tone, and that comes with lots and lots and lots of practice, and im sorry i refuse to believe someone playing for the time u hav would hav the rich warm sound a proper eupho has
get back to me if u can play the likes of carnival of venice and pantomime
You shouldn't say things that are easily proved wrong.
My range is the lowest B natural on the piano to the F natural an octave above Middle F(which, I feel as though I should explain this since some don't know, Middle F is the F above Middle C. Is that not obvious, yet some don't know what that is). My tone is that of one who has been playing for many many more years than I have been(I've been told by many that my tone is that of one who's been playing for a decade+).
ur kidding me, im sorry, but people like u who claim they can do all this stuff in 2 years? i dont see a video at all, from the amount of arroganceu hav i thought ud hav a video up showing off ur skills.
its people like u who try to take away from other euphonium players. learning eupho, like any instrument, to the level u r talking takes many many years. iive come across many people just like u who claim they r phenomenal but wen it comes to backing it up they fall flat on their face,
all the people i hav seen flat on their face say they would post it but back out just like a guarentee u do.
from looking at ur account u seem to be the most closed minded person i hav eva had eva met. i love euphonium, brass band, orchestral music, but i also respect the musicality of rap, rock and other genres, u seem to hav such a closed mind that u cant respect these genres which adds to my argument that u r not a true musician.

I have visited your page, and the videos you have of you playing, such as Hedwig's Theme?
Well tbf, not wanting to sound mean or whatever, but you were splitting fairly easy notes...
I have had very little experience of playing the euphonium, as I'm a trumpet player, but I have to say, I think even I could top that?
Who exactly is it that compares you to David Childs?
