  • big tune! thanks for sharing :-D

    Saludos desde Costa Rica

    Jah bless

  • i've watched it soooooooo many times,,,,and i still miss it .....

  • Great song, shame that reggae is virtually dead in mainstream and that pop today is so one dimensional. I want to turn up the volume with this and turn down the volume for most modern pop. There needs to be more black music making it mainstream like back in the 70s and 80s as it had soul and a very niiiiiice BASSLINE!

  • I don't think reggae is dead, just see the number of views or rating for reggae vids. While followers, reggae exists. I also miss real singing nowadays, from the heart, the soul (not always black but many ;)

Young singers in JA should follow the roots and stop doing the shitting dancehall that is populating the scene currently...

It's sad most didn't learn nothing (i know double negation but you understand it, rigth :-P)

  • the beginning sends goose bumps down my spine and tears my eyes every time!

  • dennis brown u my nigga 4 real wine up pon all de girl dem big up star

  • great song

  • then you can dig it man in too that pussy with your dick, yeh man unblok that hate hole of that white women with a pink pussy then you can lick it like ice cream. get down on it like the cool and the gang.lol

  • tell 'om mista!

  • great song, hey man you got money in your pocket but the white girls full of hate in there heads from the juda buda judge's jews, what you need to do is give her some drugs to chill out and let go of hate, give her some ghanjaa eye ray man.

  • dennis the crown prince nobody did it better my fav reggae singer of all time u an gregory mon big up respect

  • what is bad grammar there is no such word correct yourself before you can correct others. Common sense tells you that if you have money you can get love because you can buy it even if it is fake love. can't is abbreviation for cannot. LEARN SOMETHING TODAY?

  • "Money in my pocket but I just CAN"Tget no love".. not.. "Can get no love" NO no no.. forget logic or grammar or whatever.. We Jamaicans pronounce "can" "cyan"... and "can't" "Cyant"..It pretty much sounds the same.... but di man seh "cyant".... meaning "Can't get no love"... There you go, a real Jamaican clear it up for you all.

  • irie

  • Big Up from Montenegro :)

  • 1 ov the very 1st reggae tunez i ever heard and i loved it then and still love it now xx

  • such a nice!!!! big up from Costa Rica--UM- QSUKO--GF

  • Crown Prince True Reggae here..Dennis I love Ya

  • Boom!

  • i love ya......i am ur number fan alwayz missed.. never forgotten.. got all ur cd's...

  • great music never die ^;^

  • A mistake almost everyone seems to make. (no offence, every lyric site on the internet makes this mistake too).

He says: "Money in my pocket but I just can (!) get no love".

I noticed this while making my own version of this song from Simply Red. (Check my video's)

Saying you "can'T get NO love" means you cán get it, which is awkward, because the whole point is that he can not get love, only money. ;)

Listen carefully to the singer and you notice :).

  • His accent makes it sound like "can" but hes saying "cant" if he could get love the rest of the song wouldnt make sense! he talks about being alone, feeling blue.

  • If he says he can'T get NO love, like you say, then he cán get it. (Not... no = saying two times no = yes). It's a bit of grammar problem but if he says "can get no love" it makes more sence. :)

  • Hes jamaican, thats how they talk. Trust me, ive been there and know many Jamaicans. He says CANT get no love, and he means he cant get any love. Its bad grammar, but thats how it is in the Caribbean.

  • "Money in my Pocket but I just CAN'T get no love"... CAN'T

  • Dennis, his music is timeless, every tune is relevant. so greatly missed.

  • is it true dennis brown is dead and if so how did he die

did u know he originally recorded this song in 1972 love both versions though

  • He died in the summer of 2000..I think it was either July or August of 00..I would have to go look at the dates again..

  • I think he died summer 1999

  • @HendrixUntilDeath 1ST JULY 1999

  • I think it was a respiratory infection...but gossip in jamaica says it was due to his habitual smoking of crack.

  • he wos 22 at the time rip

  • 42 at the time

  • yes he was great

  • cannot find the one you sang all the time.

now you can either get ready to drink or ask me to drink

if I die, how many tears will you cry?

  • This is what reggae is all about. When i first heard it i went to Dalson market and bought it.The man was and still is my favourite reggae star of all time ,this is Andy Hackney giving my respects to a great man ,you will allways be remembered RIP.

  • money in my pocket but a just can get no loveeeeeeeeeeee

  • I used to listen to this song all the time in high school when I had a crush on a girl and I couldn't get any love from her. Although I didn't have any money in my pocket :(

    RIP Dennis Brown

  • The lyrics say "money in my pocket but i just can't get no love".

She made me had in mind that her love would never die, and now i'm alone yes so alone...

    Gifted voice, respect

  • that version is Dennis Brown with Prince Mohammed. You should be able to find it online.

It may also be listed as Dennis Brown with George Knooks because George Knooks use to deejay under the name Prince Mohammed before he started singing.

  • why is it weird? what else did you expect or want him to have in his pocket?

  • Cool song. He recorded this in the studio several times over the years. This is an excellent version.

this song was first a hit in Jamaica,(Joe Gibbs Records)and then picked up by a British company and became an International hit, (good for Dennis) and made it to Totp's

his other works are amazing.. try 'man next door' 'How could I leave' Get lost in Dennis,

and his mate.... Junior Marvin... Good times in Finsbury Park, ...Hi tony.. Kid from Muswell Hill

  • far eyed

  • Love this tune!

  • reggae started all music reggaeton sucks fuckin same beat for that wack spanish music

  • tamaraalana what a stupid comment. Jazz, Funk, Punk, Rock, Metal, Grunge. RnB Where was all the fancy equipment? You are just thinking of electro and drum n bass genres

  • wooow im naked right now!

  • where abouts are you? i would love to sneak up at your window! ohh, i'm such a dirty boy!

  • Fab tune takes me back to my youth. UK

  • i remember when is was 16 in a dance in brixton lol they were playin this tune the 12 inch version then all of a sudden the police raided the dance, those days, haha!!!

  • What I love about true reggae artists from JAMAICA is that they didn't have all that fancy studio equip with tricks and auto tune etc, just raw natural talent...and sounds so good.

And not to mention a popular multi million dollar genre of music came out of a tiny island. Hasn't been duplicated yet or even come close. How many nations can say that?

  • how about british music?

  • I actually like British music too...house...dub. Brixton is full of Jamaicans so the Brits get a nod. :)

  • yay, haha. yh, it never quite matched the original, but hey, considering that the originals pretty unbeatable it doesnt do bad :D

  • Lol! Thumbs up. Reggae is meant for the world, not just Jamaica. Just my opinion. Dennis is the prince of reggae.

  • You're right.Reggae is meant for the world...but it is only understood and fully appreciated by Jamaican and British youth.

  • what about british music haha
