  • WOW this song is sooooo dodgy!!!

  • This song is really wonderful...........

  • I love this song so muccccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhh

  • i like turtles

  • meri chaya hai jo apke ke ghar chali

sapna ban ke meri palko me hai pali

raaz ki baat bataye, ye poonji jeevan ki

shobha ajj se hai yeh ap ke angan ki

    translation:

she is my shadow, the one that is going to your house,

she has been raisd in my eyes like a dream,

shall i let you in on a secret, my lifes most prized possesion is today the adornment of your house

  • Interesting, is shadow something positive in India? I'm asking because it's pretty negative in my country, like "there's a shadow on my soul" means that you're really depressed. But that might be because my country isn't as sunny as most of India so we want as much sun as possible :-)

  • in terms of the context that she was saying it in, when she was singing, she basically was trying to say that my daughter is like me when she said she is my shadow.

  • Generally Shadow is considered part of the body.

So my shadow going to your home here means that... A part of going to your home.

    Or it can also mean....

She is just like me..... I raised her to the best I could ... so all the best stuff I could have put in myself... are in her... just like my shadow...

    Hope it helps...

  • @s29865

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE! MADHURI RULES!!

  • years bck movies wer wacthable in families n it was nice, nowadays its all filth

  • Alok Nath is such an awesome actor. An interesting fact is that he was only 33 when he played Bhagyashree's father in Maine Pyar Kiya.

  • are you serious????? he looks much older though...but he is a nice actor...

  • I like him, he looks so kind and gentleman-like

  • are you serious?

  • my favourite movie

  • i love this songs because htey have simplicity,. tehre are still hindi movies with family gatherings but the songs there are full of fake makeup and fake breasts,,,and craxy jewellery

  • Anupam kher is full of life here...

  • Indian gurls are so loved n cared for. The last 20 seconds of the song is so nicely directly..where the brides family is all emotional. There is soooo much difference in Indian n American brides n marriages.

Its a PURE BLISS to be an Indian!

  • So true. I can't agree more :)

  • Comment removed

  • @aapkikhushi I agree with you to some extent. American women are also cared for by their loved ones. Part of the reason an Indian bride's family cries when their daughter leaves is because during arranged marriages you don't know if you're daughters going to a safe family! Many innocent Indian brides move in with their in-laws, with a stranger as their husband. American women have more outspoken rights in their society and more frequently stand up to injustice, so it's less emotional.

  • @gojuryu3 not completly true...one of the main reasons is because being a daughter of Indian parents means (Symbolically) you have to cut ties with your family...

  • @nanichick5 you're right, that is one of the reason. it is "symbolic" nowadays. back in the day, when traveling wasn't fluent, and there were many other traditional boundaries that existed between the two families, it wasn't so symbolic. the girl literally had to cut ties with her family. and in those days you really didn't know if your daughter would be safe. symbolic or not, it's a terrible thing forced onto women. stems from culture and religion that is (im)famous for oppressing its women.

  • @aapkikhushi Good for you that u r Indian n its a lovely culture, but very wrong of you to diss American culture. Americans have that tradition of walking down the aisle with a loved one and the father/daughter dance. Every mother n father no matter what part of the world cares for n loves their 'gurls' and so you can't compare the best of Indian culture to the worst of American

As for the song its 1 of my faves but its not like in every Indian wedding the Samdhi n Samdhan break into song...

  • @nutenam -- I have lived in US more than half my life. My point was that American kids move out as soon as they are 18 - be it for school or independence. Hence, the physical closeness with the parents is not all that much. Not to mention most American weddings are more like a paper ceremony. They already have lived with their future husband/wife. I am not against live-in. but there is a big difference between India and American weddings.

  • @aapkikhushi i agree. Born and rasied in America. and the truth is unless yr a very devote Christian weddings dont really mean much.

  • @aapkikhushi i like american weddings too.i love the white dress.both have there own charm

  • @fida80 DUDE! Read my comments above. I was speaking about the essence behind wedding rituals and emotions involved. AS I ALREADY MENTIONED, Been born and raised in the US, I see and live both sides of the culture and I can say without a doubt that Indian weddings have much more meaning to it. You may beg to differ.

  • @aapkikhushi I sometimes dont understand why people get so hyper when someone disagrees with them . Why so much ego Just to prove your point

  • @aapkikhushi It's that bit when she says "Yeh poonji jeevan ki shobha aaj se hai yeh aapke aangan ki" sends shivers up my spine...beautiful

  • this is a truly entertaining song!

  • HAHA this song came on Bidaai :D

(if people are wondering, 12th January 2009 episode)

  • I was just thinking about the day this song was on Bidaai! Thanks so much for your input! :)

  • luv it da muzik

  • Is the is the instrument that's being played in the background from 1:57 - 2:11 a sitar?? Please tell me, cause I want to learn whatever's being played in that bit!

I love this movie because it's not only the young pretty lovers that get songs & stories. The whole family, and the older people, get a story. This is my favourite song from Hum Aapke hain koun.

  • yes

  • Dis Song Is Da Best It Make Yuu Feel Dat r Bk In India x

  • lmao the most chichora song in the whole movie

  • what does chichora mean?

  • ........i dont know how to explain it

  • chichora is like, someone who is always teasing others, making jokes and fun of everyone.

full of life, without any problem and with great sense of humour.

  • but I thought chichora was a negative connotation.

Its used in our place for something funny but in a lewd manner :|

  • ..........chichora is like, someone who is always teasing others, making jokes and fun of everyone.

full of life, without any problem and with great sense of humour.

  • Anupam kher is the best.....no comparison

    bhai wah!!!!

  • raaz ki baat bataaye, yeh poonji jeevan ki. shobha aaj se hain yeh aapke aangan ki.

...what does this sentence mean ??

  • IT means dat her daughter is her earning in her lifetime and she raised her like a princesss and she has all the good qualities dat the mother has earned in her own life and now you are taking her to ur home so from now on she is a pride for your home :)

  • Wow, who would of thought few words in Hindi will mean a lot in English words. Just to describe it.

I have also seem to notice the same because I can speak bengali, few words mean a heel of a lot explaining in English.

  • means, if i tell u one secret,

it's my saving of all life

but from now onward, she will be your asset.

normally these kinds of things are hard to translate from one language to another.

  • I thought Salman and Madhuri had such great chemistry, it really was such a great treat just to see them on screen together. I have said it once and I'll say it again, it movie has simply got to be one of the best movies ever made and is legendary for its achievements in conveying its message of love, family and life.

  • that was lovely

Its a PURE BLISS to be an Indian!

  • Indian movies like these are the reason why Indians abroad still love the country. Otherwise, almost every facet of life is corrupt there. Share of thanks should also go to those who put it up here for sharing around this experience. Enjoyable song, lovely acting full of emotions.

  • It depends on from where u r looking at it. I still think india is very beautiful and among all those difficulties in life we still are happy.

  • I am not disagreeing with the beauty there but just observed that if not for the rampant corruption, things could be even more beautiful and enjoyable.

    kanwal

  • hum jante hai jannat ki haqeeqat lekin, dil ko khush rakhne ko ghalib yeh khyal achcha hai

  • I thought jannat ki haqeeqat will be just as comparable!

    Think so?

    Kanwal

  • Guess, nowadays the opposite thing is happening. American grls are behaving like that and new generation of Desi grls are behaving like Americans!!!

  • whats the name of this movie? and whats the actress name? The actress that was wearing the green and yellow sari.
