@ClaptonBoy99 Judy Collins opened Live Aid in Philadelphia (If I remember correctly) I was a bit late (It took forever to get inside) and I could hear her singing as I got in. JFK was a monster of an old stadium. A wave (remember the wave) would take minutes to go around, if it didn't die out first. Two things I remember beside the music were girls in the men's room (their line was too long) and every tiny cloud would get attention as everyone prayed they would get the 20 seconds of relief.
@RMoribayashi i was there too and i remember a bit different. does not mean i am right though - LOL. i thought Joan Baez opened it up in Phila and said "Children of the '80's this is your Woodstock!" then Phila band The Hooters played. i have not seen the Phila beginning on here, and it was 25+ years ago. i was on floor in front of big screen, got to JFK overnite. amazing amazing time! if anyone can shed light on opening please do so
@eatpigsnot Wikipedia has the entire set list including some unknown named Bernard Watson as the opening act, but you're right, it was Joan who followed. I always get Joan & Judy mixed up. She was singing Amazing Grace. You were lucky, my brother & I were stuck in the back. Just before CSN&Y there was link to Russia for a band called Autograph. Everybody in JFK booed during both of their songs.
Rumor has it, Phil was on coke during his flight from England to Philly.....doesn't matter, this was defintley one of his best performances ever, wish I could have been old enough to be there, was only 15 minutes away from JFK with the Vet, Spectrum in to the right.
@T81PA Sure during the making of the Band Aid video in 84. Status Quo brought a bag of coke and passed it around. The artists were all wired by the end of the day.
Brings back a ton of memories.

Only performer to do what he did. Perform at Wembley and then go to Philly

You gotta love everybody doing the drum hit even though he's just got the piano.

@ClaptonBoy99 Sorry, I goofed. Some unknown named Bernard Watson was the opening act followed by Joan Baez not Judy Collins.

Never thought this song was that old... still, the only that would've been better than this would be him playing this on the Drums live.
