What I find interesting is how Yurine in the subtitles counts from 1 to 10 then says "it will fall, it will fall gently". Then notice how time stops in this fight for a bit. Notice how nothing falls except for the snow, "it will fall gently", kind of interesting.
Naturally, Japanese are better at voicing their own shows, whereas Americans are better at theirs. Those two worlds and styles shouldn't mix. When i want some good piece of genuine western animation in order to rest from anime for awhile, i watch them in English. And vice versa.
It's simple. Japanese sounds way more awesome than English. English is more convenient and easier to learn, ofc.
In my country, we mostly have subs for cartoons, and all movies and tv-shows are done with subtitles. Not only it is beneficial as a reading practice for youngsters, it is also a springboard for those who are interested in learning world languages. I've learned English solely by watching cartoons. I'm not perfect at it, but people say otherwise. Learning Japanese is my foolish dream.
All you english dub haters are absolute morons, the japanese dub is a completely different product from the english dub. It is wrong to comare the two since they are worlds apart from each other. As far as we in the west are concerned, the Japanese dub should not even exist to us. Same with the Japanese, the English dub does not exist to them.
you so called purists are nothing but impure pigs gratifying yourself listening to a language you know nothing about. Watch series CORRECTLY!
japanese dubs are always better than english dubs.there's more emotion. people always hate on the japanese dubs because they hate reading subs and thats really really sad.
....no reason to argue its a preference no matter how we fight they will still say the Japanese are better even if they have nothing to back that statement up i only ask why they come to these English dubs in the first place. They are just a bunch of butt hurt fans who would rather spend they're times complaining and assume all even the great dubs are bad...
Subs vs dubs, aye? Well, for me personally. if you can find an english seiyuu on par with Megumi Hayashibara or Maaya Sakamoto, I'll listen to english dubs always. But for now, Japanese with subs is still better than English dubs. Granted I saw Karas with subs so I don't know how good (or bad) it actually is. But my opinion about English dubs is dubs are still not as good as the original. Even dubbed hentais are shitty. They can't even moan as good as Japanese seiyuu.
this dub is perfect. nuff said. i don't understand why you all saying that japanese VA are superior, honestly I don't like that squeaky-like voice when a female japanese seiyuu is speaking. that makes all OTAKU seems abnormal and pedophile.
i dont understand shit from this shit movie. they can come up with everything there are no rules, i could summon 100 dinosaurs made of diamond och conquer the world.
I completely agree and I can not stop watching. Every time I run through the sequence, I find something new or a concept that I had not conceptualized prior. This is simply an amazing movie and I really hope that another can follow and add to the plot. I was blown away the first time I watched the Prophecy, but then I watched the Revelation and was even more impressed. If it is possible to make another in the sequence that is superior to the Revelation, that would simply be a gift to anyone.
did anyone else not like the 3D anime mix in this? I wudda thoroughly enjoyed it more with high quality 2D animation. Also, it was a shame that the voice acting was pretty bad both in jap and eng dub (jap, the main character was the seiyus first time and u cd tell he was a right virgin lol).
Sorry 2 be negative but tis part of the criticism
@joshd616 I have to agree here. I felt no emotion in the voice acting. Until some other animes such as Trigun or DBZ which was voiced dubbed well. But these are only 2 characters. A lot of the characters in DBZ and Trigun the voices fit well, you felt the emotion, the voice WAS the character. I did not see it in this.
i don;t see why ppl ever though va's that are not even from their native language and understanding would be better.you have to read subtitles and while that's happening you're missing important stuff.and whe you dub it you act like it's such a problem.

Anyone remember the Read or Die OAV? The dub was sssoooo much better than the Japanese version. Sometimes things just work out better dubbed. As far as Karas goes it doesn't sound bad to me.
Japanese Seiyus are not these "voice acting gods" you make them out to be. They show up, do their job, get their check and leave just like any normal voice actor. You people don't know the first thing about voice acting and have no idea how much hard work goes into dubbing an anime. And to generalize an entire process like that is just stupid. You people can't even speak or understand japanese in the first place so you have no ground to stand on. You guys are killing the industry.

@MiiYgamer what about when some anime is not set in Japanese or Asian-language speaking countries? What if the characters or at least most of the main cast are largely non-japanese/non-asian characters? Hellsing is case and point, it is set in England and Europe and most of the characters are either British or European (German, French, Italian etc). It makes little sense for British people in England to be speaking in pitch-perfect Japanese all the time. Wouldn't an English VO be better?
@nonamexg18 it still wouldnt be better(imo) cause english speaking voice actors just CANNOT deliver a good feeling.. they just say the phrase they are given.. without any feeling to it.. and the way they try to make it sound "cool" just makes it sound fake and acted.. english isnt a good "VO" language.. (all of this is just my own opinions)
@Averex8 this dub is crap in comparison to the original jap, and many of us do understand jap - the english voice actors always over do it / try too hard making it sound fake/horrible, and they are no where near as good as the jap seiyus.
Whatever man. All I know is that : Japanese voice actors are usually very believable and brimming with passion. And that the dubs just don't sound as good.
@mythrilite This is probably more prevalent in arcade fighting games than anime, but I know that it regards anime to some extent. Supposedly a lot of Japanese viewers prefer English VA to Japanese VA, 'cos it sounds cooler to them. Wierd huh? ;)
I'm kinda neutral on the matter, though I usually go for dubs over subs. I'm more of a manga (and comic book) guy anyway, so perhaps my opinion is invalid. But why is this being discussed on this video? The Karas dub is great (I've seen both)
Ok that's it. Karas is the last straw. You dub bashers are really getting on my nerves. This is Karas we're talking about. One of the greatest anime of all time and one of my favorites. The dub was well done and was done professionally. Honestly, just what the heck is wrong with you people always favoring japanese va's to english va's? When I first saw this anime I wasn't thinking "OMG its in English." When I first saw Karas I was blown away by the epic fighting scenes and the great animation.
@Averex8 For me, many times, the script has to be altered for censorship or what not, othertimes, it's simply a case of, I like the emotion that the japanese voice actors put into it. I don't always prefer the Japanese voice acting though, there are times, like with Full Metal Panic, that I prefer the english voice acting. So for me it's more specific then some weaboo 'ZOMG JAPANESE=PWNAGE' matter.
@Averex8 Probably because I like seeing stuff HOW IT WAS ORIGINALLY MADE. The only reason dubs exist is for the average stupid fucking american who doesn't understand how to read and the idea of reading scares them. There's absolutely no reason nor good argument for why anything should ever be dubbed....
@NOHHissue Well have you ever considered the fact maybe some people don't like the original version? Something being original doesn't mean its better. And if that 's the only reason you have to justify your irrational hatred of dubs then you need to just stop now. And If you're going to claim that Americans are stupid for creating dubs then you'd better be prepared to say the same for the Japanese because they create dubs too, if not then kindly shut the hell up.
The reason I like dubs so much is because I don't want to have to read at the same time some epic fight scene is going on. If I have to read subtitles, I'm missing some of the action on the screen.
@NOHHissue Really now? Dubs are fine. I mean, I would much rather watch DBZ dubs than try and listen to Goku and his annoying Japanese voice. Although if we take a look at Shigurui Death Frenzy...The English voices are heinous. More than one country speaks English by the way. Plenty have English as a second language, or third, if not their native. If someone happens to read slowly, they might like a dub over subtitles. New topic : Why are you a pertinacious cumdumpster? Goodargument2451GO
@Averex8 Karas being one of the greatest animes is only opinion, you know. So since that's out of the way, why do you let them get on your nerves? If someone enjoys Japanese voice acting over English dubs then...let them enjoy it..No one that will probably ever read this, or your comment is killing the industry. No one needs to speak Japanese to have that as preference...your kind of just letting the sand in the vagina go too deep and rambling about nonsense.
@Averex8 Stating a preference doesn't mean someone is wrong, The karas was quite good, but there was just... something a little off about it , they didn't quite capture the same emotion or feel to people like eko.
All it falls down to is preference, Some dubs (like princess mononoke and spirit : origins of the past) blow their counterparts away, but people still prefer them in their original language. Foreigners watch english movies in their original dubs too, even though they can't speak it.

No.... They just move really fast, tell me what episode they mention stopping time. How come it happens to Nue too? He's not a KARAS, they just move really fast.
ok. let's say that you in karas form and what do you see? the things are moving slow...right? you probably gonna say..."wtf? how do these things moving so slow?" then take a closer look at 1:20.they stop fighting and start talking normal like a regular time but the objects are moving really slow.
if you still dont understand.then I suggest you to watch Kamen Rider Kabuto here in youtube and you would understand better. then for stopping time.i actually said it wrong. at firstI thought things were stop but reallyit moving really slow. so, my bad. BTW: As you said for Nue..havent you see him transform yet? he is NOT a normal human himself though. he's a monster (not karas) or something or whatever you guys call him. :)

i forgot how bad dubbing is, i don't speak jap but watching anime with dubs is just wrong, its subtitles or don't watch it at all. it just sounds really bad with dubs ruins the whole atmosphere

No, they are just fast
wwwingzerooo 3 years ago
no, when they in karas form, they use the power to stop the time.
have you seen kamen rider kabuto yet? if not, then i suggest you to watch it. it's similar as this one when they use "clock up".

i don't think so in the movie ver. the nurses can still move slowly when Karas is fighting that mechanical Spider lady
wwwingzerooo 3 years ago
well yeah, i forgot to mention that they can slow down the time too. sorry about that.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
No.... They just move really fast, tell me what episode they mention stopping time. How come it happens to Nue too? He's not a KARAS, they just move really fast.
o0Lelouch0o 3 years ago
ok. let's say that you in karas form and what do you see? the things are moving slow...right? you probably gonna say..."wtf? how do these things moving so slow?" then take a closer look at 1:20.they stop fighting and start talking normal like a regular time but the objects are moving really slow.
imthecenter 3 years ago
if you still dont understand.then I suggest you to watch Kamen Rider Kabuto here in youtube and you would understand better. then for stopping time.i actually said it wrong. at firstI thought things were stop but reallyit moving really slow. so, my bad. BTW: As you said for Nue..havent you see him transform yet? he is NOT a normal human himself though. he's a monster (not karas) or something or whatever you guys call him. :)
