  • When I read AQ the first time I started reading at 7pm and I read through the whole night because I lost track of time.

  • OK EVERYONE LISTEN UP! we are not comparing LOTR with The Farseer Trilogy here. I read LOTR and then went to the cinema.... And you can NOT put into pictures, what I imagined while reading those books. ...And as I consider The Farseer Trilogy as defiantly better: I wish for everyone to read the books and not to "just" see the movie wich would not be comparable to Robin Hob's descriptions in any way!!!

  • Even if the movie turns out to be bad, at least they're there right? What if they turn out good? The movie should be made. If it's good than that's great, if it's bad then just forget it was even made.

  • I think a TV series would cover the stories better than a movie would. One done in a similar grain as the Princess Bride (not satirical of course, but similar in film style) would address it well I think.

A lot of Fitz's mental turmoil would end up being downplayed, simply because you can't visualize thought on screen the way you can on paper. But the rest would do well I think.

  • A film is something that everyone anticipates when reading such a good book...But it is simply not possible...There is so much depth and description to detail that Hobb goes into when telling her tales that not even the finest director of our time could handle such a monumental storyline! Everyone has their own movie inside their head through their own eyes and imagination. Lets leave it be and not ruin it like they did with Philip Pullman's Northern Lights and so many others.

  • i have to agree though i desperatly would love a movie... we all have our own ideas of waat each caracter would look and sound like and the director could not please everyone

  • Its a fantastic story, but i think a film would almost definatly ruin it! for example night eyes never hada voice to me, he just had words so i think that alone would ruin it!

Still these are the best books ever writen for me!

  • As much as I'd like a movie for my all-time favorite book series, it is just not possible with modern film-making technology. How would you film the Skill, or Fitz thinking to himself, or conversing with Nighteyes? I am very sure that if someone tried to take on this movie, s/he would fail.

  • I loooove these books, my absolute favourite. To see them made into a movie or tv programme would be amazing. But they need someone very special to play the fool. He's an incredible character and there are many who could ruin that for me.

  • wow romeo and juliet 1968. never would have thought to use that as a representation. i didnt even think there would be anything on here relating to his books. o well. cool. nice job.

  • I'd say just do 1-3 and 7-9, personally I didn't enjoy 4-6 as much as the others. But yeah a film series would be amazing. I mean they made one for the golden compass which is a heap of shit, I mean come on...They could at least do a film of these amazing books. I just hope a skilled director would take it on and make it into a classic.

  • honestly, i've read so many books in my life, and the assasin's quest is...by far the most awesome, well written and distinguished book ever...i have no idea why it never got any awards...probably cause she choose pygmalion as book editor.

  • Have you read the dark tower series?

  • I've Read The Farseer And Tawny Man Trilogies 3 Times, I received The Books Last Christmas :D

  • That is an exceptionally well done video! I just finished reading the book the other day. The magic would be a challenge to depict, but I think a really clever filmmaker could do it. LOTR proved that you can certainly find actors with a common 'look' (for the Farseers - important that they all look like kin).

  • They are.

    The best.

    Totally.

    None can beat it.

    NONE

    DO YOUN HEARArSDRME?!?

    ..sorry

i get a little animated when this subject arises.

  • I agree with you that the books are great. I hope that no filmmaker ever attempts to make films out of them though, because that would turn out a disaster. Just think of the skill and the wit...

  • Yes there is something in your words in one hand, it will ruin the "film" that I see while reading. In the other, what about LOTR? Wasn't that great? I think that I have a problem of addiction, I am reading the books six's time now, in a period of two years only.

  • have you ever read books from fiona mcintosh or robert jordan until i came across these guys i didt think ther was life after robin hobb check it out

  • Does that include the Tawny man trilogy as well?

  • Damn... I'm only up to my fifth in two years.

  • @Exactemento I don't think the skill and wit would be a problem. Afterall, Jedi's already use the force on film and no one seems to have a hard time understanding. :p

  • I completely agree with you - these books are THE best.
