man wat a running forehand by edberg at the end of the video, btw is just me or is the indoor carpet surface in the 90s much faster than it is today, i mean edberg n ivanesivic are not even full blasting the tennis ball they are just using slight volleys and even still the ball moves so fast
Yes the courts were faster, generally. The balls are also softer now (=slower). Just look at wimbledon. This was serve & volley, little rallies beyond 4 strokes or so until 2002-2003. No time to take huge swings at the ball. Players like Muster, Bruguera and Chang rarely made it into the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Attacking tennis was rewarded, not like today with never ending power rallies. Even roland garros was quicker than today.
@nizzam1 it is... imaging if the courts were still at that speed.. with todays technology u wouldnt even be able to see the ball... I like the fact thet they have slowered the courts... Serve & volley game def. had its charme.. but u didnt get a lot of long rallies... remember watching tennis back then just waiting for some action while players where acing... making serve winners and s& v all the time... todays game´s dominated by baseline and back then it was s & v.. would love to see a combo!
Still to this day I'm left speechless by the fluidity of the edberg b'hand.

What happened to the 1996 Stuttgart final? Why was it taken off of YouTube?

Does anyone have the full match? If so can you please upload it? Not enough Edberg videos out there!
