I am a Ron Paul supporter, he does not endorse drugs but the legalization of drugs/Personal Responsibility which are two very distinct ideas. Ron Paul 2012!
I think the reason Ron Paul doesn't talk like this any more is because he expects people to embrace liberty or tyranny. People either want freedom or are too brainwashed to think for themselves. No need to get heated or in a shouting match over it. WE SHOULD BE THE ONES SHOUTING NOT HIM! Did you see how irate this guy was. I mean, he was SHAKING while he asked for the government to use military force on it's own soil against it's own people. wtf! Thanks for posting this.

@ZamolxisReborn He's exactly how America needs him now a days... When you argue like he did back then he comes of as if he is obnoxious and rude and such... he has paitentience today and it shows that he's fair and level headed and he lets other individuals make them selves look like fools and then he shows America how wrong those individuals are!... but everyone is entitled to their opinion... we share the same view though... Ron Paul 2012!
if we're not willing to talk about important issues, and YES, argue about them when disagreements arise, nothing will get done! all the sugar-coating, P.C. crap doesn't work.
@ZamolxisReborn well he was slammed all over the place in the rest of this show... which was a big thing at the time... I like that those that know about him and his ideas are for supporting him... You can be elected with out slander ads, something else I like that he stays away from... He's outspoken and quite understandable when he makes Perry, Bachman, Romney, Cain, Santorum and Obama look like asses... He's exactly the Amount of Candidate that we need!
@CrimsonCoastie It's a common misconception that being fat is a flaw of a character or gluttony. If we would like to start a war on obesity we should then prohibit access to easily digestible carbohydrates. GIVE UP on that :) There would be underground bread and chocolate market :)
the MAIN point is that a war on obesity would be silly, just like the drug war is(although a lot of democrats ARE starting a war on obesity)
.
and a second point, that you won't like, 'cause you're probably fat, is that your weight IS a choice. I used to weigh 165, not i weigh 195--you know why?! 'cause i ate too much. so now i'm trying to lose it. it's called "choice." nobody forces you to eat too much. be happy you're not starving, like so many others r
@ZamolxisReborn thank you for your replay. I have good news for you. It's not because you ate too much. You just ate wrong foods. Throw away white rice, bread, pasta, sweets, soda and everything with high fructose corn syrup and it would be ok. Trust me. You can eat protein, fats as much as you like to not feel hungry. After some time you will stop overeating naturally and your weight will drop like stone. You don't have to torture yourself on a treadmill neither. Hugs
wow, it one way it was kind of funny but in another way is very rude to say that. Fortunately Paul doesn't talk this way anymore. If he did, he probably wouldn't have made as far as he has.
@unfortunatebeam If you watched the entire video, I think you would understand why Ron responded this way. It's a very trashy program, and he was up against the wall the entire time being screamed at and ridiculed.

well, anyway, some fun stats: most people watching this video are actually middle aged, not crazy college kids--thank you all for supporting liberty. and, i guess...tell your children about Ron Paul? :)
@ZamolxisReborn I just gave a thumbs up, Ron Paul was schooling this newb about how the system is confusing us with their wars and it's just a pretense to control our freedoms.
would you have seen the video if i described, in perfect english, and with perfect grammar and syntax, ron paul's exact views on the legalization of drugs?

it gets views. not many, but some.
it's a better title than: "ron paul debates somewhat overweight advocate of drug-enforcement marshall law, endorses the legalization of drugs as a more viable alternative, and points out the irony of the fat gentleman's argument regarding self-control"
@ZamolxisReborn We the people now have the internet. Allows all to come together. Ask Libya. Would the word "System" change anything? It's not mine, It's ours.
@UserName222222 You'll forgive me, but "12-term congressman" is not exactly a compliment for anyone nowadays, not even Ron Paul. he hasn't accomplished much in congress, though he's usually always on the right side of issues. he'll hopefully be recognized as one of the founders of the Tea Party.
.
I like the guy, and most of his policies, but I just wish he'd be a better orator, so he'd convince more people to agree with him. i agree with the message, but a lot of people don't like the messenger
It's a really bizarre time to be alive when an FDR Democrat like myself likes Ron Paul more than any other presidential candidate, including what'shisface in the White House.
BAHAHAHAHAHA! This is hillarious. I find it very interesting how he's progressed over the years. I like him when he was young, and I also like him now. It's no wonder he still has all that energy. . . just look at him 20 some odd years ago.
@ZamolxisReborn actually he doesn't endorse drugs, he doesn't endorse legalizing drugs, he endorses the RIGHT for states to legalize drugs without intervention of the federal government. His cause is not so much about making everything legal. It's about individual states having the right to determine their own laws. It makes perfect sense. Every state has a different demographic and ideological makeup which sets particular legislation. You cant have legislation which speaks for 100% of Americans
@ZamolxisReborn Yeah, but accuracy is important. Some people don't watch the video but just see the title and think Ron Paul is a drug user. He just thinks that people should have the right to make those choices for themselves, even if they are poor choices to make.
He definitely is against the drug war, but his reasoning mostly comes from his libertarian beliefs that people should have a right to do whatever they want with their own body.
@SketchyGamerMan WRONG! Ron Paul does not endorse or want to legalize drugs. He wants people to be able to make their own decisions... I'll cite him "As a physician, father, and grandfather, I abhor drugs. I just know that there is a better way — through local laws, communities, churches, and families — to combat the very serious problem of drug abuse than a massive federal-government bureaucracy.” -Ron Paul from RonPaul.com
I'm supporting Ron Paul... you need to get your facts right!
look through my comments. i am perfectly aware of what ron paul believes. and perfectly capable of using the english language for my own devious purposes. "endorses drugs" is a much better title. sorry, bud, you need to sell it, and shock value is a good way to do that.
.
it doesn't matter if you're 100% right, if no one listens to you.

"We need to understand the more government spends, the more freedom is lost...Instead of simply debating spending levels, we ought to be debating whether the departments, agencies, and programs funded by the budget should exist at all." — Ron Paul
@russkie69 i agree with what i assume is your basic desire--to decrease the number of poor people--there's only -only one problem, bud:
poor people have been voting democrat for 50 years(and they're still poor)
the democrats will have no constituents if they ever ACTUALLY solve poverty in america--that's why democrats are (slightly)worse than republicans. Ron Paul is a libertarian, and he wants you to have the choice to fail or succeed based on your abilities and hard(or lack thereof) work.
@ZamolxisReborn i would also point out that democrats have controlled congress most of the time since WWII, and poverty has only INCREASED in the US, not despite of their social programs, but BECAUSE of all the social programs. think about it for a second before you reply.
they have removed the incentives for people to work, thus making the whole country poorer as a result.
I like Ron Paul but I can't get behind the notion of churches getting more involved in our lives. How long will we "believe" in this fairy tale called god?
@ZamolxisReborn Dr. Paul brought religion to the front of debate by inserting it into his answer therefore it is on topic. Are you afraid that his thoughts on the subject of religion and personal choice will distance voters?
it makes as little sense for the government to regulate fat people as it does for it to regulate drugs.
Ron Paul is not shoving religion down anyone's throat anymore than he would force that dumb, fat kid to loose weight--the discussion is about freedom and personal choice.
PS: if you want a fight about religion, find an appropriate video, send me a link, and i'd be more than happy to debate you on it.
@kraksc I know this is a old comment, but I had to say this: I believe what he meant on that is that people in turn should help each other with the instrument of their choice. Whether that be church, or family, or friends, or all. What he believes is in the end, it comes down to the individual and their ambitions for their own self-preservation.
@draconis183 I really like Ron Paul, but I think in this case, you're rationalizing for him. He delivered that line too fast--it's a campaign slogan he had. Sorry, Ron Paul is a good man, but he's still a politician.
While he may honestly believe in God, THAT part of his answer was inconsistent with the rest of his libertarian views.
.
I'm not an atheist, but I don't think politicians should offer God as a solution to any of our problems; mostly because I don't think God listens to politicians.
@ZamolxisReborn He wasnt saying "Ask God for help" he was saying that we used to rely on churches and communities to instill values into people and for supporting one another. Now, many people feel that government has to step in to tell us what's "right" and "wrong". In other words...if Cocaine was legal, would I go out and do it? Absolutely not. Why? Because I know better. Dont need government for that.
@draconis183 i'm sorry, but that line about churches was a clear campaign slogan.
.
i like ron paul, but i'm always saddened when his supporters forget that HE, too, is a politician. he's been in D.C. for decades, he knows how to get elected.
.
ps: watch him in the house--he's got the parliamentary procedures down to a science. for some of you small gov types, you might find it scary just how well your idol knows his politics. we, libertarians, should idolize NO ONE! (not ever good ole' ron)
@ZamolxisReborn hmmm so a politician should hate his job and be really slow and crappy at it if he believes in small government paleocon/ libertarian views.... Okay, gotcha. I'm gonna run on that ticket.
oh ron, don't bother. once you opened your mouth, there is no way anyone in the audience understands a word you're saying. btw, please run in 2012, we need you!
I wish some of that Ron Paul would make an appearance every so often. But either way, I still love the guy. One thing I would pay money to see is Ron Paul debate socialist Obama in the 2012 elections..That would be sweet for sure!!
@ZamolxisReborn what if i wanna do harm to myself? the government is not my nanny. im not pro trans fat- just anti big government. but i guess you need the government to protect you from eating nasty stuff and making poor, ill informed choices.
Looked like he was a bit more feisty in his younger years. Imagine him talking to Bill O'Reilly when he was like that!

more people die of being fat in the US than from drugs.
morally, it's more beneficial to prevent people from being fat, than from doing drugs. because fat kills.
but you're right, it's crazy to ban fat people, and the same argument should be applied to drugs, by reasonable people.

I like Ron Paul but I can't get behind the notion of churches getting more involved in our lives. How long will we "believe" in this fairy tale called god?
kraksc 1 year ago
@kraksc
please stay on topic.
church-going is voluntary; government laws and regulations are not. this video has nothing to do with God--it's about freedom.
Ron Paul is about freedom(and pwoning fat noobs).
ZamolxisReborn 1 year ago
@ZamolxisReborn Dr. Paul brought religion to the front of debate by inserting it into his answer therefore it is on topic. Are you afraid that his thoughts on the subject of religion and personal choice will distance voters?
kraksc 1 year ago
@kraksc you've missed the point:
it makes as little sense for the government to regulate fat people as it does for it to regulate drugs.
ZamolxisReborn 1 year ago

ZamolxisReborn 6 months ago
@ZamolxisReborn He wasnt saying "Ask God for help" he was saying that we used to rely on churches and communities to instill values into people and for supporting one another. Now, many people feel that government has to step in to tell us what's "right" and "wrong". In other words...if Cocaine was legal, would I go out and do it? Absolutely not. Why? Because I know better. Dont need government for that.
Cactusgod11 5 months ago
@Cactusgod11 it's still a campaign slogan. sorry.
ZamolxisReborn 5 months ago
@draconis183 i'm sorry, but that line about churches was a clear campaign slogan.
.
i like ron paul, but i'm always saddened when his supporters forget that HE, too, is a politician. he's been in D.C. for decades, he knows how to get elected.
.
ps: watch him in the house--he's got the parliamentary procedures down to a science. for some of you small gov types, you might find it scary just how well your idol knows his politics. we, libertarians, should idolize NO ONE! (not ever good ole' ron)
ZamolxisReborn 4 months ago
@ZamolxisReborn hmmm so a politician should hate his job and be really slow and crappy at it if he believes in small government paleocon/ libertarian views.... Okay, gotcha. I'm gonna run on that ticket.

as a side-note, the trans-fat ban is one of the few govt. regulations we can all get behind. trans fat kills. period.
there IS a place for government regulations, and trans-fats are a clear place where they will do more good than harm.
ZamolxisReborn 4 months ago
@ZamolxisReborn what if i wanna do harm to myself? the government is not my nanny. im not pro trans fat- just anti big government. but i guess you need the government to protect you from eating nasty stuff and making poor, ill informed choices.
