Funny how in the show, the PF always played in small clubs to only a few but at the same time in real life David played to huge crowds of screaming teenage girls.

Gracias por compartirnos este precioso video y recordar momentos inolvidables. Era mi serie preferida en aquellos años, donde la unión familiar reinaba, los valores familiares eran la base de la sociedad, situación que actualmente se está perdiendo.
One of the best shows ever! I have loved this show since it first aired back in 1970. I have all of the CD's, all 4 seasons on DVD and sing "I Think I Love You" with in my band. Just for the record: Both David AND Shirley sang the vocals with the studio musicians. They were the only 2 actors on the show that actually sang the songs. The albums contained the songs featured in actual episodes of the show; therefore, Shirley sang on the albums as well.
@Scott6263 I knew that David sang, and I know that Shirley sings (ie. "Oklahoma" and "The Music Man" just to name a couple of movies of hers), but I didn't think she sang with the Partridge Family only because I thought that another group was actually singing (ie. The Cowsills). I was just wondering. Thanks
@Beautifulmusiclistnr Hi there! Shirley did sing on the show. She sang background vocals with studio musicians. Once in a while, she was given a solo song or part of a song to sing alone. However, the majority of music was sung by David as lead with Shirley and studio musicians providing backup. Also, The Cowsills were a real-life performing family who had a number of hit songs in the 1960's. "The Partridge Family" is loosely based on them. Hope this helps!
@Scott6263 Thanks for the info. I remember seeing Shirley sing a solo, but I always thought that she did the "Milli-Vanilli" lip-sync routine when it came to the group singing! lol I guess I'm in error on that. Yes, I'm familiar with The Cowsills. They have quite a few videos on YT, and my favorite song of theirs is, of course, "Love American Style" The show gave David (son of Jack Cassidy), and his then step-mother, Shirley, a chance to get to know each other and get close.
@Beautifulmusiclistnr LOL! She really did sing on the songs. No "Milli-Vanilli" for her (just the kids except David). I love The Cowsills. They recorded "LAS" and their version was to be used on the actual show. It was....for the first season. From the second season on, their version was replaced by another groups' - The Charles Fox Singers. Yes, Shirley and David got extremely close during "TPF". Their relationship had been somewhat strained and this show helped alot.
@Scott6263 It's funny, but when we watched this as kids, we thought these people had all this musical talent, and David and Shirley did, but the others didn't. It looked so natural watching Laurie play the keyboard. lol One time, David saw Danny pick up an electric guitar, and David got Very upset. He said something like "You don't strum an electric guitar. You pluck it"! LOL Danny, not being the musician that David was didn't know. It's such a great show. I wish they had more shows like this!
@Beautifulmusiclistnr I couldn't agree more. I knew about that David/Danny story. Very funny! It's a wonderful show. It also makes me nostalgic for a simpler, sweeter time in life. Today, it's all about technology and being the quickest and not stopping to smell the roses. No sense of innocence anymore. What a shame.
@Scott6263 I agree Friend. The time has gone so fast. Technology has its place, and it's good, but we don't have time to smell the roses, and we no longer have a sense of innocence like you said. We have to settle for reality TV instead of quality TV shows. I miss simple days. What happened to the days when there were only 3 networks and everything on there was great? It saddens me at times, and I long for that simpler less complicated life. I know I miss the absence of my youth.
@Beautifulmusiclistnr I'm with you! I'm in my early teen years and I LOVE early 1970s pop culture. I wish that I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s. Other then todays Technoology I hate everything moderen.
@gertie1999 Well, I wish you would have grown up to the kind of AMAZING music that I heard growing up. You'd have been beside yourself with just fantastic music! Take a look at my channel, and you'll hear a lot of older songs. There's stuff from The Partridge Family to Doris Day to Steve Lawrence and his wife, the incomparable Eydie Gorme, to The Carpenters. If you get a chance, listen to a song called "Jean" by an artist called "Oliver". Check out anything by a group called The Sandpipers!
WOW- this really makes me feel good. I remember sending fan mail to Shirley Partridge in 71' I was sooooo in love with her, even more han than Laurie. And I COULDNT BELIEVE SHE WAS WRITING BACK TO ME!!!! It turned out to be my older sister intercepting my mail, and spraying the response letters with her Sweet Honesty perfume from AVON which my mom used to sell. I was SO STUPID. now I see the reason, other than the great POP MUSIC that we loved, was that I REALLY HAD A MAD SEX CRUSH ON KEITH.
I was watching an interview with David Cassidy filmed in 1977 and he stated Shirley Jones did not sing on the albums - she was just credited on the albums and was paid for that. ;-)
@mriguy35 Actually, the backing vocals were performed by LA session vocalists Jackie Ward, Ron Hicklin, and the Bahler Brothers (Tom and John). Shorty Rogers and Sally Stevens also sang on the sessions for the pilot episode, but the music producer, Wes Farrell decided on Ward, Hicklin, and the Bahlers for the subsequent recordings for the TV series.
Good selection................surprised nobody has caught on and covered them.............maybe a new Partridge Family 2009?????
Mind you...........niceness...gentleness...setimental lyrics....and romantic songs are out of vogue......kids just seem to like all the trashy tack thats around nowadays.....sad.
love the non exsitent horn section and the awful fake bass playing by Danny.Susan dey was a hottie i remember having the hots for her-like everyone else
Thank you!! 4 great songs, particularly 24 Hours A Day which brings back childhood in the Seventies and the pain of lost love. Music that will last FOREVER:)
