  • I am allergic to the sun. I go out for 5 minutes, and about an hour or two later my face starts itching, I get trouble breathing, dizziness, tired, red face, eyes burn etc. I looked it up, people say your throat can close and you can stop breathing...anyone know what I have? Reply.

  • I feel your pain. I live in Australia in a coastal town and it's the most difficult thing life has presented to me so far. I remember the first time I had an eruption it was all over my face and the only thing that helped that firey itchy feeling for me was to slap my skin, I ended up giving myself serious welts and blood blisters and bruises.

There is a new treatment for this called Scenesse, which is yet to be approved anywhere but Italy. I hope it happens soon.

  • My gf has the same problem. Her 2 little sisters are fairly dark, and ever since they were little, they were outdoor people. Your body adjusts much better and faster when you are little, and since they were exposed to the sun a lot more often, they are okay. As for my gf, she is very light skinned, almost white (though she's Korean). She was and is not an outdoor person. She also refuses to jog. Eastern medicine usually link skin problems with lung health. Either case, she still doesn't listen

  • Thanks for posting this - I have had the same problem recently - I think I had it when I was very young (under 10). Now I am 36 and it came back this year. It's a strange condition.

  • I have suffered from PMLE since I was a young girl, so over 40 years now :-(. However, I always thought it was crazy that I was "allergic to the sun". Did not think it was possible. Right now I am in the worst break out I have had in years, and finally decided to google it. I did not know there was a name to it! Nor have I found anyone else with the same condition. Honestly, now I feel justified in covering up, staying in the shade, etc. All the best to you.

  • thats a heat rash

  • @farstarfilms No, it's not. PMLE is a reaction to UV rays. It lasts for weeks at a time. Heat rash is much more temporary and has nothing to do with UV rays.

  • i have this right now. its no big deal! it itches like crazy, but its no big deal. one time i had it on both my legs for over a month. i never felt like a freak and no one cares about it, andthey never stay away from me because of it, so chill out

  • Thanks for putting this video up. I have the same condition since I was very young and finally decided to research it this year. I have discovered coolibar; a brand that helps create protective clothing and I wear my "sun gloves" while driving in the spring and summer. It seems to help...but what helps more is knowing there are other people with the same problem. I have never actually met anyone else in person with this issue.

  • it will keep itching until u put cold water on it and take the pill.. the sun was just shinning through my window and suddenly i got these bumps near my elbow and it seems that if u scratch u will get these lines that poof up and basically ur arm will be read.. its been like that 10min now.. i tried every way to figure out the reason but i just assumed its hayfever, good to know the sun is an option!

  • I have the same symptoms but I dont know the reason, i have been suffering from this for 6 months. I have been taking Zirtek 1 tablet/day. It makes it go away but sometimes if i forget to take it i wake up at night, head straight to the bathroom to put cold water on my arms and legs coz if u scratch it ,,

  • Thanks so much. You solved my mystery rash! I woke up this morning and thought I had chicken pox...for the second time. I knew it wasn't shingles 'cause it was on both arms and both sides of my face (shingles only appear on one side of the body at a time). Tonight I started to realize that the bumps were not little herpes like blisters, but were just little red bumps and were only on parts of my body that were exposed to the sun during a long bike ride yesterday. It's identical to what you have.

  • OK i think this is what I have had going on 3 months now. but my forearms and shoulders are absolutely huge reddened itchy painful random pattern..not tiny bumps but large patches. AND they have lost all pigmentation leaving my arms with whitish pinkish patches now. Been to dermatologist and holistic MD..given steroids, creams hypoallergenic soaps, avoiding some foods and drinks tho all I want is to avoid feeling like a pariah. I mean, I live in THAILAND where it is HOT!!

    10 yrs of being here!

  • first time in my life it hapened to my.those little ugly things apeared on my NOSE :( it looks terribly and hurts, all i want is to walk to mask right now :(

  • Hey I think it's cool that you're sharing your thoughts with people and educating them. Its tough and I understand how you feel. Don't feel so bad though because your case seems really mild. Know that you are not alone, and there are others with the same problems even worse. Some people are just ignorant and fear what they do not know.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I was diagnosed with solar urticaria when I was 19 (fall of 2002), and up until that point I never had any reactions to the sun. I am now a 28 year old female and my symptoms still haven't improved. Although, I react differently than you do which I thought was interesting. Any part of my skin that is exposed breaks out in a rash that looks more like a sun burn, and happens every time I'm in the sun. The itch is horrible. Please keep us updated.

  • omg thanks so much for sharing. i thought i was the only one who had this problem.

  • Thank you for sharing! I just found out yesterday I have this same allergy. It sucks because I'm looking for work and I have this strange rash. It started under my neck/on my upper chest, and was also on my arms, so I thought I had a sunburn. But then it was on my legs and I was wearing long pants/socks/shoes, so then I searched for the symptoms.

I hope you're feeling better. Bless your face. :)

  • i can only go out in the sun for 2 min and i burni also have 2 sisters who have it two my big sis who is 14 and my little sis how is 7

  • i have a skin condition to i cant go out in the sun coz i will burn and if i do i will swell go very red get scabs all over my body whair it burns itches so bad but it is worser when it comes through the glass and i am only 12 thay found out i had it when i was 2 and i cant use suncrean it burns my skin

  • i have a skin condition to i cant go out in the sun coz i will burn and if i do i will swell go very red get scabs all over my body whair it burns itches so bad but it is worser when it comes through the glass and i am only 12 thay found out i had it when i was 2

  • im 14 & im allergic to the sun, haha almost none of my friends believe me.... but oh well, i had a more severe case than you do, mine was on my arms legs and neck. But i also have eczema... i wear high amounts of sun block, and i do not wear short sleeve shirts because of exposure to sun, and because my skin isnt something i want people to see. No shorts either... You can see how hard it is for a 14 yr old not to wear shorts and spaghetti straps. :\

  • I'm allergic to the sun too, however I don't get rashes, I just sneeze once or twice haha (:

  • i have also alergic to sun ..

  • I have PMLE as well. I have a very bad case of it where its on my hands arms face and can some times be on my neck. The blisters are painful and this year there even under my finger nails needless to say a few of have even broken off in some places. I remember the first time I found out it brakes my heart because I really cant go out for any amount of time with out having a brake out. All it takes is a few seconds and im done. Ive tried allot of things nothing helps. I hope yours gets better!!!

  • Does it itch you?

  • @Jedisax100 Very much so. But, when you scratch it, it burns. So it's a big struggle of what's worse, the itching or the burning? :(

  • MemoryandDream, hold on :) There will be ways to make it better but I am sure to the rest of the world our little speck of people who can't be in the sun is unimportant. I have the same thing though mine can get very dangerous with my skin splitting and large blisters that leave circular scars. SPF 70 is something I picked up personally and just hiding during the "high hours" 12:00pm to 3:30pm.

Your not alone and please remember that!

  • I'm with you all the way and yes it is not a nice thing to have, please don't take this the wrong way,but I do have it and it is a pain in the hands co's it screws my music up.Sounds like on march 16,2008 you were going through hell, and thank you for your post up.If you need to ask anything please go ahead but I don't know if I'll be able to answer,as you said not much is known about it.Hope you are ok still and make sure that you don't alienate yourself, ever. My itchy hands must stop now, bye.

  • I thought I was the only person who randomly got attacked by my body when I was in the sun too long! lol

This exact thing just happened to me a few weeks ago...after I'd been in the sun for maybe a half hour...when I went to the doctor, they didn't know what was going on, which freaked me out.

They gave me ammonium lactate cream to put on the rashes to stop the itching & whatnot...maybe you could try that?

That helped...made the bumps on my forehead & right arm go away.

    Hope that helps!

  • Thank you for posting this video. I have gone to doctors before and all they told me is to avoid the sun and that I must be "allergic" to the sun but I never had a name to go along with it. I have the EXACT same thing as you showed on your video. Thank you.

  • at 3:05... my arms get like that when i am on the sun... or near a hot place..

and then when i go to a colder place.. .like a cooler ... the reds things.. dissappear...

but still when they appear... its like an allergy :(

  • i am allergic to the sun :(

and no one believes me xD

    its annoying! :(

  • I have pmle as well, only I get it on my face. It happens when I expose myself to the sun for a about an hour, and it usually lasts a week. It looks like a bright pink rash on my face and it burns like crazy. Putting an icepack on it helps, as well as corticosteroids. It majorly sucks

  • I have it right now. I scratch it too much. I's very itchy.

  • Comment removed

  • I have it too, its been there for almost 3 years. My parents are docters, and they made me LOTS of creams and bought me creams, lotions for me. We didnt really exactly know what I was allergic too, but one day i rode my bike, for about 10 minutes, and my cheeks got very pink/red, it lasted for a week. it really sucks, I have it on my legs and arms. I wear sunscreen now.

  • working in medial field myself and also a fellow sufferer (On the face which is HORRIBLE)I can say apply liberal amounts of broad spectrum UVA & UVB protection. A high factor. (Even when not that bright outside) The higher the better, even the extra 1% protection can make the difference.Factor 100 (Neutrogina do it) Apply often.Aural antihistamine, 5 day course when worst, Steriod ointment can help in some cases.Use only if it flairs up(Elcon 0.1% once a day on prescription only)hope this helps!

  • I have an allergy to the sun too, but my body is effected differently. I don't get a rash instead I get water blisters in the burnt areas if it's really bad, flu like symptoms, skin feels like it's literally on fire when the sun hits my skin directly, and just makes me miserable. Don't be self conscious about it. I have really dark hair and I'm almost see through so everyone thinks I do it on purpose to look gothic. lol Hey we'll look younger from the lack of sun damage from avoiding the sun :p

  • I totally have what you have. ichy bumps/hive things on my forearms. I only get this in the summer and it started about two years ago after a two week period where I was over exposed to the sun...like all day for those two weeks! And now whenever summer comes the rash comes. I knew it was an allergy to the sun, just didnt understand why now? I was 25..my immune system just decided after 25 yrs I'm gonna break out 0_o p.s. ur not a Freak!

  • TY so much i think with your clip i have figured out what the heck this crazy rash is all over my arms and feet .

  • Hi memory I have never had skin problems I'm 40 years old. I worked outside in the weather my adult life, and never had any problems. I was put on bp meds 2 months ago and just last week this rash appears. I thought it was bug bites but I went to the doc today and he told me it looked like a allergic reaction to...something? Did you have yours all your life or is this something unexpected?

  • @tigerserpent2396 I started having this problem in about 2002/3 maybe? Prior to that, I never had this specific reaction to the sun, though I've always had issues getting burnt very easily and also, when I first moved to Florida, I had a few summers of severe heat stroke/fatigue as I adjusted.

My dermatologist said perfumes and dyes in body washes, detergents and such can make PMLE worse and to use plain, unscented, undyed products as much as possible.

  • i think i have pmle too... i found out i started to rash up in the sun about 6 years ago, but now i think it's more severe. at first i could be out in the sun for hours and then rash up, but now it's like i rash up and itch within minutes.

thanks for this vlog. i learned a lot and and more aware of this allergic reaction now! God bless!

  • 2 questions,

Does anyone know if it's bad to remove the skin? (when i sweat it peels off very easily)

If I spend entire days out in the sun without any protection, can it transform into something more serious? (ex: skin cancer)

  • @IanSolo89 Being in the sun without protection causes skin cancer whether or not you have PMLE so don't do it! Always wear sunscreen!

  • Ive had mine for a few years now, the doctor always just said to me i have a sun allergy, and in typing this into google i found the result pmle. I get the itchy rash, but mine is mostly on the backs of my hands. When i was younger i got it worse on my elbows, and still have really bad scarry rough elbows from this :( I also found it interesting, I got it in the Winter when it snowed! Cuz of the sun reflecting off the snow which is annoying!!

  • I have this, its an annoyance that ive had to live with. It doesnt stop me going out and its something you have to put up with. Yours is pretty mild compared to what mine, I get it during winter if the sun is out of the clouds lol :)

  • Hi Friends, I struggled with PMLE for the past atleast 5 to 6 years. And now for the past 6 months (GOD's Grace) I have overcome it completey, no sun block, no heavy clothing, not even SPF 10 I apply, I happily go out with no sunblock on my face, neck and skin! OMG! Thanks to my new skin Doctor! Hi, I am not selling any product! Just creating curiosity! DO u what to know what I do? Thank Goodness!

  • @ssivakami what do you do to stop it?

  • My hands and arms do the same thing but not as severe. It started one summer when I was on accutane...don't know if there's any relation.

  • i believe i get this every start of summer. ive always thought it was heat rash . however it looks much more PLME. although my skin toughens up during the summer. and i dont get it towards end of summer. terrible thing to have. somebody needs to come up with a cure for it

  • I have it to very bad last year i even get pretnison.

Now i've got malaria pills i did not take them jet but i hear it will help.

We already tried to let my skin get used at the sun before summer start but in like 5 secons i will get the allery so i hope so so much this will work.

    I will let you know.

    greetz from holland!

  • I have exactly the same condition. I live in the UK and whenever I go on vacation this happens. Unfortunately it's got worse and worse and I have to wear gloves when on vacation and keep my feet covered also.. I have to wear a scarf to protect my chest also. I feel so embarassed but there's nothing else I can do. Thanks so much for your video I don't feel so alone anymore. Hannah x

  • iam 26 i have had this problem for 3 years now, it effects my hands and arms. mine stays all year round it just fads some in the winter. thank you for the video

  • I have the same exact thing, and I found that ice reallly really helps with breakouts! mine is really bad and it happenswith just two minutes of sun time. I get headaches, nausea and sometimes I end up vomitting. Try the ice, it has really helped for my scratching :-)

  • I was suprised to find that someone is suffering from something similar to me. I'm 14 & for a yr my family & I have been searching for a diagnosis. After I am outside for a period of time, my face has red splotches, my lips & face swell, & it's painful. My hands get bumps that look like your arms. Ive been on many meds, have been to many derms, & havent gotten anywhere. I have another appt on Wed to get photo testing. Thanks for this video. If anyone has any further advice, please share.

  • Do you still suffer from PMLE? I have solar urticaria and have suffered from it for two years but only recently got the diagnosis and I feel your pain! even if it's not nearly as bad as mines *envies*I get it on my face too when it's really bad I know exactly how you feel about everyone staring at you!:(

  • Thank You! I have the same thing on my arms and hands! Yours doesn't look that bad, but I know what you mean about the self-consiousness. Me too. However, it does feel so good to scratch. I put Noxema on mine at night and it seems to stop the itch. Sun screen helps but not so much. I'm glad you posted this video though. I thought I got mine from helping a dying drunk driver in a car accident 10 year ago. I got his blood all over my hands and arms. But it rashes out when I'm in sunlight.

  • contd....the situation is worse when the rashes are healing, i.e, after around 4 days of getting this(if its serious it may be longer, a week or two)....ur skin becomes scaly in the affected areas....white scales appear on the back of ur ears, on the hands or the face.....the gud thing is u get a completely new skin after this....think of how many ppl get the chance to renew their skins...(so its a gud thing).....the last line was just a consoling line for my fellow friends, who suffer frm this.

  • .....contd.....so the rashes are not severe and get away in 2 days or so....after getting these i become very cautious for a few days....like i seldom go in sun....or move in shade....or take an umbrella....use sun-screen lotion.....cover my face and those parts exposed to sun....

so those who have just got these don't worry.....it won't last for whole life(as i used to get worried)....just take care.....it will go slowly....but never go away completely.....will pay u visits very seldom though.

  • ......contd.....and this has no permanent cure....only prevention and slowly u start building resistance, getting immunity.....as what has happened to me.....but even now after 7 yrs it had 1st appeared....sumtimes when i get exposed to sun repeatedly for a few days or on a very sunny day, i get these.....but now i don't get serious rashes as i get cautious the moment i feel my skin irritating and itching and take some precautionary action like moving in shade or sumthin like tht....

  • hi friend, nice of u to upload this video.....i had this 7 yrs bak....wen i completed my 10th grade....i still remember, not being able to even sleep properly for 4-5 days of getting this rash....as it will be around your neck at the back and everywhere else where it is exposed to sun....and me hailing from kind of equatorial climate makin it worse........and after tht i joined a boarding school for 2 yrs where it got cured on its own as i din't have to go out frequently in sun......

  • aww, I know exactly what you mean, cause I feel the same way. I get it on my hands, arms and faces, other places on and off. It sucks, but I don't need to tell you that. Also, I want to thank you for you posting this video, now I know what it's called :) btw, your website helped me, ty!

  • I have this right now on my forearms. I haven't had this reaction since 4 years ago and now it decides to come back. Ugh i hate it

  • PS Thanks for posting your video, it made me confirmed that mine is also an allergy from the sun or UV LIGHT.

  • Hi, why not ask for a small doz. of steroid to help relieve the inflamation...I took it for 3 months..Then continue avoiding the sun.Or wear protector..I used a long gloves everytime I go out. esp when driving. Your lucky you don't have any in your face. I have some in my nose. I'm also using bethamethasone for the rash.twice a day. Goodluck!

  • You'd want to see a dermatologist since they are specialist doctors that deal with skin. There's not much that can be done though. Avoiding sun exposure, wearing sunscreen at all times and treating outbreaks with topical creams to prevent itch like Hydrocortisone are about all you can do.

  • I went to highschool with somebody with bad sun allergies. They had to wear gloves and a mask and everything, and he used to ride his bike at night. He had other problems too and later died.

  • i have a sun allergy also. it started a couple of months ago and it happens everytime i am in the sun. any part of my body except most of my arms and my face react after about 15 minutes. i get really bad hives. i have tried spf 75 suncreen wit uva and uvb protection but it doesn't help. the doctor is trying to figure everything out. I am in my teens and i really hope it doesn't last my whole life. any advice would be greatly appreciated

  • I do, too. My mother has an allergy to sunlight and when I go out, I have a hard time breathing, I get dizzy, headaches, red bumps; all sorts of things. I'm not actually diagnosed, though. I just try to avoid sunlight and it doesn't bother me too much.

  • i think im allergic 2 the sun also but mine only last 5-20 minutes after i get out the sun

  • my family doctor believes what I have on both of my arms is mild case of staph infection. in 2006 i had what the doctors call an innocent staph infection. that means it is less likely some one caould catch it but it still could happen. then i got the superbug mrsa and had that twice, 10 scars still on my body from the surgeries. I develop a rash on my arms and my famil doctor thinks it just another form of the innocent staph since mrsa can still be in my blood stream.

  • do you draw a disability check? i was just wondering because your rash look a lot like mine and I can't get rid of it

  • No, I have a part time job. Have you seen a dermatologist? Perhaps they can offer some treatment options for you.

  • ive suffered from this damn allergy thing for over 6 yrs, i really want to go back to my nomal life with all the sunshine and outside!! anyone knows there is any treatment can help me, plz~~

  • hi im 19 years old and i have the same problem and i get it at my face but i get red bumps and start breaking out and my lips swallow and my eyes get really red and dry it horrible because my skin its getting really dry and bumpy it realy sucks having sun allergy's

  • hi i have the same problem i am a pro golfer an i cant play golf from this problem i have a remedy that works when your realy itchy go in shower use hot hot water let cells deplete, after bath get clorox an poor on area mix baking soda, clorox with water you need to make a paste out of baking soda an put it on area that is infected i used water an cloroxed mixed with the baking soda an realy worked , the whole thing is mass cells growing must deplete the cells

  • thats me and bad

  • I totally understand. I have had this for more than ten years. back of neck, arms, chest. My biggest problem with this is that I am an a diabetic, and it causes me to heal very slowly. By the time winter is over my skin has cleared but, but early spring starts the cycle all over again. It's good to know I am not the only one. I was starting to think I was. II really can relate to everything you said!

  • I've been dealing with this my whole life-thanks. I don't feel self-conscious about it. I've taken to wearing light weight long sleeve shirts with a collar in spring/summer just to avoid the discomfort. Cortisone cream helps, sun screen (a bit) and when I have a bad case ibuprofin helps with the inflammation. When I have a bad case I get overwhelmingly sleepy as well. Sorry to see so many people with the same condition but glad to know I'm not the only one!

  • cont again!!! I totally understand how you feel when going in public but don't let peoples stares get you down. Treat the rash with the steroid and you will feel so much better physically... it wont itch or burn. Dress nicely and walk with your head high... It certainly doesn't change the person you are.

    Hope this helps. x

  • cont... What I have found is that Polaramine will help to reduce the itching and redness, therefore the rash goes away in about 1 week. The absolute best result is a small bottle of steroid that I can't think of the name.. but you take 5mls morning and night, and within 3 days it is almost all gone. It is a very light dose that you get from your doctor but they are not keen to give it very often. My case is always very severe, on every part of my skin that is exposed to the Sun...

  • Hi... I have had this rash for 8 yrs now and have been to many doctors and skin specialists. I even had allergy testing where they prick my arm with dozens of needles and put liquids on the spots. No-one was able to tell me what it was, I found out for myself from the internet, matching other peoples descriptions and pictures to what I get. I get this rash is Spring and Summer every year and sometimes inbetween if I am in the sun a lot. No steroid cream helps me in the slightest but...

  • I also have this problem but not like that extreme . I got only two or three blisters totally on both my hands then I took the antiallergic medicines and started having good food and totally no to junk foods. I also started heavy gym. After 4-5 months I have improved from theseproblems and I have problem of only one or two or previous blisters which are also improving.so I want to convey that improve your lifestyle then you will also see that your problem have just gone.

  • It has nothing to do with lifestyle. My case is pretty mild compared to many people. I had the one problem this spring (as described in this video) but no real other occurrence this year. Your skin simply needs to "toughen" up each season when you have PMLE and people often get seasonal outbreaks of rashes.

I'm glad you have a minor case of the problem but the gym isn't going to solve anyone's PMLE.

  • It disappears when i'm not in the outdoors;what i will do is..wash my face with cold water and also the other affected area..after 10 minutes it's already gone.

So,I decided to bring umbrella everytime I went outside.^.^

  • I haven't consulted any doctor yet..but everytime i walk under the sun,Rashes occurs in any of my body parts that is exposed to the sun(likely in my face, back of my hands, and on my feet;but not the whole, just the exposed area)).I really wonder why..so I searched about it in the internet, and I got several answers.

  • Yay so good to find someone who explains the exact same symptoms as me. :) I concluded myself that i was in someway "allergic to the sun" after ruling out an allergy to sunscreen or other things. However people riddliculed me for claiming that I say im allergic to the sun saying that obviously im not because they've seen me in the hot australian mid summer sun and not get any rash. amazing to find out theres reason for it and some treatments to stop the itching THANKYOU!

  • I also have PMLE. I get it bad on my chest, neck and arms. The 2 times that Ive been to FL it was the worst. So, I can't imagine living there. When I have an outbreak, my doctor gives me prednisone to relieve the itching and calm the rash. It seems to work well and I now have a standing order. I also use benadryl cream. That is also great. I want to thank you for putting this video out. I honeslty thought I was the only person with this and it feels so nice to have someone to talk about it with.

  • I just want to thank you for posting this up. I was recently diagnosed with PMLE and even though I have taken extreme measures (I've limo tinted my car and I still get affected) I break out similar to you. I've found Eucerin Calming Itch Relief Treatment (white bottle with blue lettering) to work EXTREMELY well. You can find it in any pharmacy store or online. I hope this helps for you or anyone else who has our similar situation.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I'm glad that this video has helped so many people.

Make sure you're using a sunscreen with good UVA protection. UVB burns, but UVA is the wavelength believed to cause PMLE outbreaks. Not all offer broad spectrum coverage.

  • also i know that sun allergy can inscreas or become worse if you are allergical to anything else like eggs, fish, seafood, dust, flower, honey.i'm allergical to honey:(

  • i have the same problem too since i am 14.i am 19 now.when i asked the doctors about my problem the only thing they could suggest me was "avoid the sun".i'm also taking some vitamins.i have also another problem:i cannot see anything when it's summer sun, apart from the burning my skin, throwing up and lossing my conciousnes.please, contact me anyone if you have anything to suggest me.thank everyone

  • hey everyone,

i also have PMLE, i couldn't find anything that helps to make it go away till a few months ago. i went to the UK for work experience, it got pretty hot outside and i got PMLE... when i was at the supermarket i saw something called Benadryl Alergy Relief (blue & white box) it's for, dust allergy, pet allergy, hey fever, and skin allergy.. so i thought lets try this, maybe it helps... and it worked!!! maybe you can try that too...

  • I'm alergic, too.

It stinks. Especially with people making crummy "Vampire," jokes.

  • i get it too and its always just on my elbow area. its very mild but very annoying! im not sure if theres anything to do about it...sux

  • try the cold shower ... has ur rash gone away yet?

  • It lasted for about two months this time around, no matter what I did. It's been coming back on-and-off in very mild reactions for a day or two at a time since. I live in Florida so there's a lot of sunlight here and it's stronger than the rest of the US.

  • hi. i have had pmle for about 4 years. it bothers me why me?.i get the rash on my back, shoulders, and top of the chest... i just got back from the lake and it was killing me. do any of you, when u try not to scratch just feel like ur ready to just punch the wall and u just get really mad??? well when i came home i turned the shower on and jumped in... i got in for about an hour and it decreased the rash pretty quick. although it released the heat my itching was still there. hope this helps you!

  • It gets very frustrating for me when the rash is so itchy. I find myself scratching and scratching without realizing it, then I get angry at myself for doing it.

I'm glad you found something to help and I hope you have a good summer with few reactions.

  • yeah... has yours on ur arms gone away yet???

try the cold shower and sleep with the fan on

  • I'm so glad, in sort of a sad way, that there are others with this problem. I'm 15 and I've been diagnosed for 7 years after my mom got tired of no itch creams doing away with my body rash. I have a middle case, my rash isn't too bad, it hits my hands, face, back and knees and stays there all summer. I can control it in the winter with sunscreen, but I'm allergic to SPF over 35 so that doesn't help in the summer. But, I've seen pictures of people with stage 4 and I feel lucky. PMLE really sucks.

  • I'm glad that you gained comfort in knowing you weren't alone in this condition. This time it lasted over two months before it finally faded. It's been coming back in smaller rashes since, but thankfully, not as bad as it did a couple months ago. I know my case is mild but it bothers me and I understand how it can be upsetting. Good luck this summer keeping yours under control as well.

  • well its May 4th and i have the PLME

kinda scared me at first cause I wrote down on google: Red dot over body

and it said like"matter of Death or Life"

something like that and i sooner or later found out its the heat.. I'm 12 yr old

and i have this thing called Track&Field Basically u run and do Alot of stuff outside in the sun. and i have it from monday through friday and I got sunburn everyday

(lasts 2 hours) so i got this thing god is sucks so freaky to

  • I don't know if i have it or not but i'm really sensitive to the sun, i burn so easily, in like 10 minutes in the summer i start to go red and break out in this hot stinging rash on my arms up to my elbows, neck, chest, shoulders and sometimes legs, it's really annoying especially since i'm allergic to a lot of other skin stuff soap, perfume, some shampoo, pen ink basically most stuff on skin i even break out in rash when in water sometimes. It sucks doesn't it? Hope your rash goes away soon!

  • Sorry to hear you have such problems. My skin is all-around hyper sensitive to perfumes and dyes and such as well.

I like the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock which does a good job keeping me from burning. You might look into it to see if it helps you as well.

    Best of luck this summer!

  • Thats too bad, it sucks. I don't have pmle, but I can't go out into the sun hardly at all, I get sunburn almost instantly, even with sunblock. I have gotten sun poison many times. I hate it becuase I love the outdoors and I am a sportsman. I hope your rash goes away soon, you got it worse than me. I want to move somewhere like Alaska, Vermont, Main, Colorado or somewhere that has short summers, yet bearable winters, plus in Vermont/Colorado you have lots of outdoor activites like snowboarding.

  • I'm sorry to hear how sun sensitive you are. I burn very easily as well. I like the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock and find it does a good job against the Florida sun. You might see if it helps you burn less too.

    Have a nice summer!

  • Mine is so embarassing. I can't go to the beach or stay out in the sun too long, and I have to wear long sleeved shirts even in the summer. It's really embarassing and people sometimes think it's silly that I'm sort of allergic to the sun. Not looking forward to summer. Hope yours clears up soon.

  • I'm sorry to hear you deal with it as well. This damned case has lasted a full month now. *sighs* I've never had it last anywhere near this long and I just don't know what to do to make it go away.

Best wishes to you this summer as well.

  • I get just a shade of this same thing from time to time. Like you said, it's pretty random. I've never had it for two weeks though. Usually it clears up in a few days. Hope your's clears up for you soon!!!

  • My daughter got this when we went to Florida. We had to go to urgent care by Disney World and they gave her a heavy duty prescription antihistamine....she couldn't keep her eyes open for the whole trip!

  • Ouch. I'm sorry to hear that. What a terrible thing to discover while on vacation. :/
