i appreciate an unrehearsed, sight-read performance.... but didn't you want to at least TRY and portray this song as it should be? last time I checked it's a serious part of the show, i've seen it twice. One of the only serious parts actually.... But comedy? really? Aren't we going to give William Finn at least some credit here?
I get the impression that you wouldn't appreciate forbidden Broadway which is basically the personification of everything you don't like about this video...
Ok, so I have seen a few people comment on how Cortney was the one who sang the "mama" note, but I don't think it was. It wasn't her tone. The tone matched Andrew's...so yeah, that is what I have to say about that. And he is obviously capable, just look at the end.
Wait- did he actually hit that high 'Mama'?!?! or was that sung by the one who played Rona? still, that was incredible! (even if the pianist was off...)
I wonder if it's ever hard for Andrew, being so closely connected to Celia. I mean, now he's gonna be in the show that she's so famous for... I hate it when people expect me to be great at something 'cause my sister is.
That was funny. I decided to watch this video when I found out that Cortney is the new Eponine understudy in "Les Miserables" on Broadway. She sounds pretty good. Congradulations to Cortney!
This is my absolute favorite video on youtube, honestly. Please please please keep this up. It's 5 AM and it's providing me a much needed break from this all-nighter....I am a fan of AKB, amazing vocals all three of them, wow
this is great but the piano is a little to loud though but other than that I'm astounded. The girl has an amazeing voice and so does the boy I've never heard a grown boy sing that high! BRAVO!
This is absolutely amazing. I'm so jealous that I can never see these things in person, I'm at Western Washington University right now. Wow, I'd love to see more videos with any of these three in them.
My sister goes to school with Andrew and she taped this performance also. I remember I was laughing my ass off after I watched it. He killed that sh*t! Him and Celia have a resemblence in the face. Great job... hella funny!
ok A. i love using my falsetto so this was amazing for me to see, B. I love this song and this show in general, C. i know/ love Cortney Wolfson (i was in Aida with her at the Muny), D. Andrew is adorable. THANKTH FOR POTHTING THITH
I have seen this show in S.F. 4 times and got to know some of the cast. This is NOT a funny song in the least. To make fun if it is not the right approach.maybe it is because it is out of context or the people in the audience were there to laugh. The show IS a hoot yes and the most entertaining time but this is a bad mockery.Srr.
chill. even the SF cast made fun of this song. On adult's only night they changed all the lyrics to have to do with Olive's mother who was supposedly away on a scientology retreat.
It can be a funny song, and it can work as a funny song! Since you're in SF, be sure to check out the final two adult nights...you'll see what I mean.
.... this was done at a Cabaret.... so it wasn't meant to be serious... watch Adrews face... its not serious, the fact that he's playing his sisters part is funny enough

Normally I wouldn't like such an amazing song to be perfomed comically, but y'all pulled it off musically as well, so it was all good.
