Lord I hate how any video dealing with anything Christian becomes an argument - usually about homosexuality - where we accuse each other of not knowing the Bible and smack people with different verses.

Whether you agree with Jay's views on homosexuality or not (I personally do), God loves us all. We all have a personal relationship with Him. So stop trying to legislate morality - it is, quite literally, none of our business: it's God's, and theirs.

If you know someone who is gay, I think that if there was ever a time that the "gay" person needs your thoughts and prayers, it is now. Although I personally do not agree with the gay lifestyle; however, this does not mean I never speak to them again. Nothing will ever get accomplished if you close the door on them. I'm not a christian but I totally LOVE Jay Bakker. He is way way way too nice to be a christian. Jay needs to find another religion. christianity is just a horrible religion.
I've seen Jesus change people truthfully, and these people were so excited about helping people that when they saw unbelievers and self righteous believers, it made them sad, and they wanted to help these people, and they did just that by loving them, while delivering the Truth. I'm seeing pieces of the Truth delivered here, but with anger and strife. That is not how you witness and that is not how Christ wants people to represent him. Using God's Word as a Sword against PEOPLE is not accepted.

I think what Evangelicals and many other Christians have failed miserably to understand is that homosexuality is far more than just a sexual act. It also includes two people of the same gender who love each other, who want to help each other, who want to be with one another, nurture one another, bless one another, care for one another and who build some of the most lasting, monogamous and wonderful relationships (many of them are now marriages too) that have ever been created.
@Whitese7en Christian understanding of scripture has evolved over hundreds of years. Pastors used to preach that Slavery was supported by God. There were Christian Churches that preached that for hundreds of years yet it was dead wrong. It was how they interpreted those scriptures that was harmful to black people, used as a way to control them. There are millions of gay people who want to live committed, adult lives and their desire for marriage is a sign of that coming of age and maturity.

As I've already stated, I am not. There is nothing in the Word of God that forbids a Christian from judging. There is however a warning, that ones judgment be a righteous judgment which is based solely on scriptural truth. Therefore, it is neither wrong or hypocritical of me to make judgments on the lying heretic Jay Bakker. Nor, is it wrong or hypocritical of me to say that homosexuality is a sin. Both of these judgments are righteous, because they are both based on scriptural truth.

I think what Evangelicals and many other Christians have failed miserably to understand is that homosexuality is far more than just a sexual act. It also includes two people of the same gender who love each other, who want to help each other, who want to be with one another, nurture one another, bless one another, care for one another and who build some of the most lasting, monogamous and wonderful relationships (many of them are now marriages too) that have ever been created.

There were Christian Churches that preached that for hundreds of years yet it was dead wrong. Either Jesus is the Savior of the World as the Bible declares He is, or He isn't. If He is, He is the ONLY conduit between man and salvation period. Again, if He is the Savior of the world, as the Bible declares He is, anyone who does not accept Him as Savior, will not be saved period. Anyone who denies this very fundamental Biblical truth, can not possibly be saved.

@Whitese7en Actually it IS self-righteous. It is self-righteous because you (like many other self-righteous Pharisaical Evangelicals) use the bigoted interpretations you have been raised with regarding gay people not to try to reach toward an interpretation of grace but you reach toward judgmental interpretation. It often shows in how you treat your fellow men & women who are gay and the results (the fruits of that treatment) have been devastating to far too many gay people. It does not work.

@Whitese7en Well your interpretation of God's word is not correct. Go as far back to the original as you can and you'll get to a much clearer view of what was really said. Also the fact that Paul had no understanding of sexual orientation as we do today.

I don't think it's a choice either. It is a choice what you do with it, you know - how you act on it. I feel like a victim of society's treatment of gay people. I was married to a gay guy that tried to fight it all his life. One way that he dealt with it, was to not admit it to others and himself. And a way he tried to reinforce that was to get married. If society was more accepting of gay people, my own personal nightmare would never have happened. Keep doin' what you're doin'! Blessings!
