I don't think it was the worst vote decision... at the time it was a shock, was disappointing & he was clearly better than the other two guys HOWEVER, a blessing in disguise. Look at him now! If that hadn't happened & he won American Idol, I don't think he'd be where he is today. I'm sure he feels the same way. Fell in love with his voice & face from the audition on. ;) (and the fact he took on the role of Daddy to his woman's child, stand up guy)

When you see the much maligned Taylor Hicks in concert, you see a musician with a fantastic, talented band behind him. Also, remember that Chris came in 4th............not even second. That season came out right. Katharine is about to have her own TV show , and Taylor is busy every day of the year.with bigger prospects ahead. Multi-talented

this was one of the most fucked up seasons ever. daughtry should have won this show based on talent. however i totally agree that its a good thing he didn't win. by not winner he got to do his own thing and find a record label that let him and his band do his own thing which i dont think he could have done if he won idol. as far as ryan, im sure he was told to break the news to chris like that for entertainment purposes or whatever.
This elimination was not shocking to me AT ALL. I never liked Chris Daughtry's screaming style of singing. Former contestant Carmen Rasmussen even mentioned something about that in a tv interview that season. She said "They already have all the other genres, so who do they want to win this season? But he just says it so bluntly with no pause - "...But you're off the show". In England O'Leary usually tacts it up with "I'm sorry but it's the end of the road" etc.
This is like the only Idol season ever, anywhere not just in America, where the most successfull person after the show hasn't been the winner or runner-up.
I can name Chris Daughtry as an artist and performer, but I couldn't even remember the other finalists of this season. It's amazing how they pick their winners and then audiences don't hear from them anymore. I didn't even know Taylor Hicks had won that year's competition.
Ryan actually seemed really pissed about the result. That's the only time I've seen him that animated in announcing an elimination. Almost like he was reprimanding America for the way they voted. I think everyone was shocked though. Even Simon looked perplexed. But hey, it looks like things worked out fine though. :)

remember this night all too well still. when Ryan said "Chris, you're going home," I was like "oh, good one Ryan... wait, you are kidding right?" then I realized he wasn't kidding and I yelled "NO!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!" Kat looked really shocked; like Ryan said, I was expecting them to be in the finale. think it just shows when you're too good, ppl will assume you have already won.

I can name Chris Daughtry as an artist and performer, but I couldn't even remember the other finalists of this season. It's amazing how they pick their winners and then audiences don't hear from them anymore. I didn't even know Taylor Hicks had won that year's competition.

I stopped watching American Idol too after this. Then got back when I heard Kevin Skinner. But I seriously stopped watching after this.

Ryan actually seemed really pissed about the result. That's the only time I've seen him that animated in announcing an elimination. Almost like he was reprimanding America for the way they voted. I think everyone was shocked though. Even Simon looked perplexed. But hey, it looks like things worked out fine though. :)
And hey, no need to ditch the show over this, guys, seriously. It's not the show's fault that America F'ed up the vote.

remember this night all too well still. when Ryan said "Chris, you're going home," I was like "oh, good one Ryan... wait, you are kidding right?" then I realized he wasn't kidding and I yelled "NO!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!" Kat looked really shocked; like Ryan said, I was expecting them to be in the finale. think it just shows when you're too good, ppl will assume you have already won.
but I'm glad he's finding success!!
