The show wrote him off because they want it to be Sam/Dean-brothers again like old times. Misha's schedule had nothing to do with it.

@MoMo11791 The childs absence is perfect, with him gone people forget about him quickly and focus on the main issue (Castiel), (Obviously that's excluding us), so they can bring the kid in now that he has a reason to intervene in the story, with that many souls in him it's more likely that Castiel/ God will try to use the power to find the child. If I was a God like creature I know I'd look for the most powerful demon in existence that could threaten me.

And Eve needed more time I feel.
