Rastafari has inspired me so much. I'm a 22 y.o. white female from Amsterdam.
Lately I've spent my time meditating. This gave me the feeling of unity; within we are all the same. Within we all are pure, free. Within there is only love. This love and freedom is in me as much as it is in you. This makes us 1.
Discovering the meaning of Rastafari supports what I stand for and I can only learn more. This gives me so much joy, thank you people. I & I
@MaaikiPalu You discovered so much but your mind is not yet completely open. If you care about a sufix in a simple word,it´s because THIS specific meaning and use of ' ism ' is in YOUR mind only. It´s only a word.I´m tired of people who say that ' meditate ' and etc, etc, etc... but still live inside a jail, where a simple ' ism ' make them make interpretations by their own. ' Ism ' can be used in many situations and does not necessarly mean what you think. Go study a little bit more.
That was beautiful. Why people come to get bad feelins from it no help they cause of no negativity, no thing that limit freedom, and no chain of babylon. i say shuttup and listen and enjoy them beautiful sounds.
wow you guys are really up in arms about words. Language is a terrible, yet necessary thing, words are just boxes we wrap around ideas. Symbols really, thats all they are, and everyone's perception and interpretation of those symbols differs greatly... all i'm sayin is, the music in this video had a nice peaceful vibe, and i think it'd be a better use of your energy to just chill, and enjoy these nice sounds.
@mattimeister why do you use the Anglisized version of Yah (jah). The british translators of the Bible into English misread Y for J and that's how we got the word Jah, so why do Rastas use this? It seems quite ironic
@ireradly no, Jah is the anglisization of the Hebrew "yah" meaning God, it was a common mistake of early english bible translators to mistake the y for j, hence Jehovah and not Yehowah, Jah not Yah, Joshua not Yehoshua, Jacob not Yaqob...
You are wrong. Isms aply to many varied things. You shouldn´t be radical and should study a little bit more about the expressions used in languages. The '' isms '' with a feeling of prejudice or an interpretation of it as only something related to religion is in YOUR mind, not in the meaning there in the video. You all say so many things about liberty and etc....but you are the ones with very closed mind.
@AfricaRoots It's not about being close minded. It's us as Rasta saying that we don't want to be referred to with an "ism" which is just as valid as Muhammed Ali not wanting to be called Cassius Clay. We respect Ali. Why is it that noone want's to respect Rasta the same way? We as Rasta are the least acknowledged and respected religion in the world. We just want our just. -love
This Is The Music...This Is The Peace...This Is Going Away From Babylon......This Is The Connection To The Most I...The King Of Kings, Lord Of Lords.....JAH...RAS TAFAR I----selassie I
Amos chpt 2 vs 11: And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the Lord. I man no Rasta, Rastafari or Rastafarian. I man a Nazarite as Yah intended it to be. Rastafari have my bredrin and sistrin praying to H.I.M and his wife....who gave his life on the cross, the conquering lion of Judah. Yahshua/Jesus.
That is the whole point even you can join in as with the other pre-school children you should pick up the nearest calabash and butt it in time to the music.

@AfricaRoots i kan explaiin wat dredtaz ment
it is about thinking however you waan tink and not giving it in a name, or put I self in a box with dat.
an ism is a group an rastafari is a movement wich frees from those groups.

I am getting tired of these people who come to this video and can only say this : '' There is no '' ism '' or '' scms '' ... ''
I swear that I almost, almost removing this video.
AfricaRoots 2 years ago
@AfricaRoots this is not nyabingi
its just scully simms and tommy mccook having a jaming session. burning chalice and sending a tribute to all horns man that died
my point is this
nyabingi order dnt have or deal with any musical instruments but the heartbeat which is the drum not even tamberine and shaker.
just drum
thats nyabingi, its spiritual, chanting so no sax couldent play wid nyabingi
change the tile.
plus never use ism next to rasta
as rasta is a ethipoian title not a ism
deepvoiceuk 1 year ago
ISM
n. Informal a belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group or school
so rasta will burn it every time with no apology
rasta is not a belif
its a way of life
