I don't think painting has any problem...it remains a beautiful and laborious art. What may have a problem is contemporary "installation" "art", crocks like Tracy Emin, presenting objects as art that not only requires as much talent and discipline as Paris Hilton, but needs walls of abstraction beside it for anyone to begin grasping the intent. If there was any, beyond "What is art?", an interesting query the first or hundredth time asked, if not already explored a century ago by Duchamp.
