Romney had absolutely nothing to do with KB toys. He had already retired from Bain Capital and gone to help fix the Olympics before KB toys was even purchased by Bain. The companies in the film went under because of other factors in the market such as the dot com bust. Maybe they get paid too much for what they do, as I said in another post, but what about the jobs that they save?

You don't go to these people unless you're about to go bankrupt, without an influx of cash. So if Bain Capital hadn't stepped in, EVERYONE would be out of work, in all of these companies, because the companies would go under. Sometimes it doesn't work and people lose jobs. But what about the companies they saved that got to keep their employees?

Listen guys, I'm not a staunch defender of his by any stretch, but you need to look into what his company does. They exist for the sole purpose of reorganizing failing businesses and making them profitable. And for that, they get a fee. These are companies that would SURELY fail without their help. Sometimes they are successful (according to the numbers, 70% of the time), and sometimes they are not.

This is NOT the same as Wall Street working with congress to skirt the law.

What we have today is not "true" capitalism, but neo-feudalism. We are bringing back the old European business model. The Founding Fathers are turning in their graves.

The goal of business is to make money. They aren't in it for "good will". They want money. Do they make too much for what they do? That's debatable. But it is what the market dictates. If a company gets in trouble and they turn to someone like Bain Capital, they are doing it because they are trying to save their company. And they know going in what it will cost. Or, they can choose to go under on their own, I suppose.
