  • i got stuck for a while because drive B: don't work.then i change to C: and type dir.i found my

bios update name(for me its RUNME.BAT)type it and the bios is updating.thanks.

  • @3nr78 Cool!

  • very nice--- thanks !!!!

  • @brandrock89 Thanks for watching!

  • i did what it said, everytime i go to boot off it, it trys to, then says like something "cd" and it gives me some error and to hit delete..i got the files right, no folder, just files, got the settings in the BIOS all Enabled for USB etc..and i select the USB drive for the first device, i dont know

  • Hey can i still do this without the AWD FLASH, because it says that i have to.

  • @Mr123pspfreak Depends on the system I believe.

  • this was very helpful up until u first went into the bios. this is because i need to update the bios on the motherboard just so i can see anything through the monitor because its original bios for some reason wont allow me to see anything. so will the instructions be exactly the same for all motherboard bios after 4:24? if needed, my motherboard is the 760GM-P23 (FX) and the processor is AMD FX-6100

  • @ShadoWtHkH Yeah, once you can see the BIOS it should be straight forward. Odd that you cannot see the BIOS. Be careful not to accidentally shut down or anything like that when you do update the BIOS. Could turn the system into a brick.

  • THank you, you saved my life

  • @danno2169 Thanks, glad I could help!

  • Hi, do I need to do anything special to my USB ?

Because it won't boot, and the files for my os are on it

  • @1Adr1an6 Files for the OS are on the USB drive? If so, you'll need to get those off.

  • what to do after converting A: to b:...plz hlp..:(

  • @kaliashashi Just follow the vid step by step.

  • Will this work if your current BIOS is corrupted or password protected?

  • @0512matt No, probably not.

  • Will this work if your current BIOS is corrupted?

  • mine says invalid opcode

  • @elliottjameswalsh What OS? Did you try to rerun it?

  • @Johnnysshop win 7

  • @elliottjameswalsh Hmm. I haven't tried it on Win7 yet. I'll see if I can test it on something.

  • @Johnnysshop i flshed it another way, but please see if you can do it on win 7 for other people :D

  • I did exactly as shown in the video.. I have acer aspire one d255e and the bios is v3.14 should i use v3.15 instead of 3309? when i do boot it when choosing the option 5 it says Invalid Opcode i dont know how to choose the option and the booting doesnt continue,... my laptop goes black, takes long time to get to login screen takes a lot more time to start? and this was because of abrupt shutting down using the sleep button.. what may the problem be?? Please i need your help :'(

  • @mehy492 I would try 3.15 first.

  • @Johnnysshop I have tried 3.15 aND 3.16 BUT IN VAIN : /. I get invalid opcode when it comes to the choosing 1,2,3,4,5. Its been more than a wekk my netbook freezes all the time and i cant use it at all. I CANT SHUT IT DOWN AS IT NEVER STARTS ITS ALWAYS ON SLEEP, AND I KNOW it affects the netwbook PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • not sure if this was covered yet , but can you use this same setup to make a bootable OS drive? So I can install XP/Vista/Win7 from a usb stick?

  • @punishrs Should be able to.

  • Thank you! It helped me a lot, best regards from Rio

  • @Phower Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks! Good video. Greetings form Austria ;)

  • @RaWstYle07 Thanks!

  • I know you are most likely not the person to ask but how do I make it so my bios shows up on my TV screen? My laptop screen broke and I use my TV as a monitor but when I start up the computer nothing shows up on my screen until windows starts. I just want to know how to fix it :)

  • @Wiirocks Don't think you can without a external video card or something.

  • I am doing exactly the same thing but when i choose option 5 i get a message

    "UMB's is unavailabe"

  • IS there anything similar to fix this Acer Aspire 3100 laptop?

same issue, leds come on....no screen, no error beeps, but runs, 2nd monitor show nothing as well

  • @hauleywood I would say you might have a larger issue than a Bios update.

  • Comment removed

  • @Johnnysshop Yup...turns out the AMD64 processor was failing under heat, so i replaced it and that seems to have resolved the issue ;)

  • @hauleywood Cool!

  • i have windows Vista and how do i flash bios to my usb flash drive.. where do i find bios on windows vista?

  • awsum worked a charm. Thhanks a lot. Rated and subbed

  • AVG also picked up the Unebootin file as malware.

  • Yea, doesn't seem to work with WIndows 7 64-bit

  • @Ireland914 Haven't tried it yet. I don't doubt it. I made this a few years ago. I'll see if there's anything out there for Win 7/ Vista 64b

  • Very useful. In this era of computers without floppy drives I was wondering if there was a simple, straightforward solution to all this. The Unetbootin solution made this so easy. Gonna add this to my PC Tech toolkit. Thanks!

  • @Keirnoth Thanks, I appreciate the feedback and glad I could help!

  • thanks mate.......

  • @rl123rl123rl Thanks for watching!

  • @fike2903 Awesome!

  • HELP it say not valid for window 32

  • @coolheardted What OS?

  • @Johnnysshop windows XP

  • thank you so much you saved my computer :D

  • @MI6A4PRO Glad I could help!

  • thanks for the help!

  • @eternalkaos You're welcome!

  • Oh my god, I have been working on this for hours and literally every other tutorial on this is complex and doesn't work.

    .

Yours is simple and works great! Thank you so much!

    .

    Two notes though:

    1. On my Boot sequence, USB-FDD failed, but USB-HDD worked fine.

    2. The USB stick showed up in drive C: not drive B:

    Thanks again!

  • @schulwitz Glad to hear the feedback! Yeah, I've noticed the drive letters seem to vary..

  • Thanks for this great vid. Setting up a bootable flash drive couldn't be any easier. Getting my board's bios to boot from a flash drive was truly an adventure but that's another story. I chose option 2 (boot with no drivers) and it ended up that my flash drive was called C: not B:. Thanks again!

  • @desertjedi Awesome, thanks for watching!

  • @jergis81

I don't understand, no. Sorry. Any Windows Disk - provided it is a Microsoft Disk - will work on any computer provided the computer hardware is compatible. I have never encountered a problem such as yours before. Perhaps someone else can help you.

  • @jergis81 Usually no way to change it in the bios but you can try this to see if it will change the display name...

Go to Control Panel,System and Security, System, Advanced, under Startup and Recovery click settings under Default Operating System choose the correct

option > remove the checkmark for " Time to display list of Operating System

  • @jergis81 I don't really think you can change the name. I don't believe that the Bios is capable of knowing which OS you have on your hard-drive. It just knows what it was told when it was originally manufactured. As well, there is no functionality that would be gained - or any lost - even if you could change the name.

  • I have the following files for flashing my bios with DOS: PAV70D2.fd + PAV70D3.fd + Flash.exe and Flashit.exe. I assume I would just follow these instructions and type B:\>Flash.exe. Correct?

  • You want to download it for Linux, not for Windows, because Windows is evil and Ubuntu rocks! Freedom!

  • Problems cause discovered. It is the HD. -malfunctioned.

  • @Istenenergia Ahh.. That will do it.

  • i have a problem since i entered F12 and enter. (only from curiousity, withoout bood disk or usb). since then win dont start up. i tryed remove cmos battery etc. but it still shows bios shadowed ,grapics shadowed and no startup. today found and tried the method you have here, but after i push enter -where you stop the video, it shows me B:/ Remove diskette in drive A: Insert diskette in drive B: Press any key to continue... -it does nothing only shows again B:/) . Pls help !

  • nothing came up when I did this lol i have my bios and everything

  • Thank you!!!! I did this on my acer aspire 3810t and it worked perfectly!!! again thank you!!!!

  • @TheTigarex Awesome, thanks for watching!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I have flashed bios at least 6 times over the years so I'm not a newbie, but i just got a new MB that could not load the w98 boot drivers........,

After 18 hours of looking for a solution and trying a bunch of complicated instructions i came here.

Thank you for solving my problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    It all went perfectly!!!!!

Three good things will happen to you because of this!!!

  • I went through the whole tutorial but in the end I can't find my pen drive. I went from A to Z and there are just A and B available but neither of them is the pen drive. How can this be?

  • @nocomment8273 Hmmm... Do you have a floppy drive?

  • @Johnnysshop Hi, Thanks for the fast reply. No I don't but I could do it with the tool from HP and Bootinfo from XP

  • @Johnnysshop Hey, I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S5849. I upgraded the BIOS and while upgrading it turned off. I had the power button on and the cylinder(Hard disk) light blinking for a while. I then unplugged it and tried to turn it on again but I only get a black screen and the power button on. How can I fix it? Can I use a cd to do a flash BIOS?

  • @nocomment8273 have put the pen drive into. Not all the ports may be in the primary usb bus.

You should check which usb port you

  • @nocomment8273

you should check and try different usb ports to see which one is on the primary usb bus

  • The result of that mistake (seemed) it would not let me boot from the cd or any other drives (except the HDD) but i formatted everything and flashed my BIOS with the latest drivers and everything seems to be working just fine now!

Will keep you posted if anything occurs in the near future.

Chose drive A: because no other drives (apart c:) would be accepted inthe installation (and trust me, i've tried them all..lol).

Thanks for replying to my message!

  • If drive a: was choosen during the procedure... is it possible to fix all that?

  • @eyesdotalk Usually it will not let you choose it. Did it update?

  • thanks, very good video

  • sorry for the noob questions :

    1. How do i know my bios support booting via usb?

Because i think my computer is like 5+ years old and previously i never noticed there is any option of booting through usb drive, and i only had hdd to boot as my dvdrom is a gone case. Should i just give it a try? or is there any option of re-setting my bios to boot from usb?

    2. How do i mirror image my boot file in hdd which was factory set? Im using a dell inspiron 640m

    Many thanks appreciated

  • @aliffirwan It should be able to boot. Are you just wanting to clone the drive? You can use Ghost.

  • "If you don't know how to change the boot order, you shouldn't be flashing the bios" - Lol

  • @vpsaline Doesn't matter

  • pls give me a flashing bios via USB flash..tnx

  • When i get to the last part and try to run my exe it says "This program could not be run in DOS mode" .... how do i fix this?

  • I cannot copy the bios files onto my USB stick :(

also if I use Unetbootin on my usb stick it doesnt show the downloaded files

    any idea whats wrong?? :S

  • @MellMenzo Not sure.. Are the files iso files? Bootable...

  • @Johnnysshop

yes they are, but I found the problem, usb stick was just broken :P

Got a new one and it works fine ^^

  • @MellMenzo Cool...

  • Great video man, all i have to ask is: I need the same bios you have, can you tell me where I go to get it and/or what it's called?

  • numero uno

  • Is it always at a .bat,.exe file for BIOS, cause i got mine from Dell and its only an application, thats it.

  • that's wrong, when you choose option 5 (5:18) it's CD only and I can't flash my BIOS from Pen Drive. You can see that there is CANNOT OPEN CD DRIVER... at 5:19

  • @sqbi87 You have to change the drive letter.. Watch it again

  • @Johnnysshop I did. I changed it into b: and still the same. But I updated my BIOS using a program from MSI so I'm happy now :)

  • I did everything exactly how you said here and now my acer doesnt work at all!! I cant make it boot not even with other methods! HELP!!

The yellow light keeps remaining there. When I press power the light blinks green but it turns back yellow. I can't do the FN+ESC key either.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

  • @DigitalWabbit Did you get it resolved? Are you sure you loaded the correct BIOS for your machine?

  • Hey!! i have acer aspire 4736Z how to boot how to boot from pendrive i have 4gb kingston pen drive....Is It Bootable...

  • @arshdeepmann

Should be able to follow these same steps..

  • can you help me i have an acer 3650 i cannot get into the bios to install windows F2 does not work. i have removed the motherboard battery and that didnt work i have a checksum error 0251 and the keyboard will not work even with a boot cd. i have tryed a working usb keyboard. i know i need to flash the bios how do i do this ,i have seen that i need to put the .fn file on a cd but i cant find this file anywhere please help

  • I followed your instructions and changed the boot order but I can't seem to get it to work. The laptop still is asking for the HDD password. I thought that by flashing the BIOS, this would bypass the password request and update the BIOS, correcting the password issue I am having.

  • Hemmmm!

  • I have an aceraspire one that im trying to boot and I do exactly as you say in the video. When I get to the last step, when you change drive letter from a: to b: it says

    B:\Remove diskette in drive A:

    Insert diskette in drive B:

Press any key to continue ...

then I type on the greater than sign:

    >3309.bat

and it says: Bad command or filename -"3309.bat".

i dont know if im putting the usb on the wrong drive i inserted it on the left side of laptop its the same brand so i think you know which.

  • Shouldn't matter what side.

  • i need help when i tried to flash it i entered the stuff and it began shortly after it says ERROR:ROM file size is incorrect

what do i need to do

  • No sure, what model are you trying to flash? What file is it?

  • @Johnnysshop it's ok i figured out what i did wrong

  • where do i get the small file that i put onto a cd to flash my bios.checked on acer but can only find a bios update that goes through windows and dont want to to that!

  • You may have to do a Google search for the file. If it's not listed on Acer it may be an older update

  • Thanks man, i have created a bootable flash drive and uptade the bios on my MSI K8M Neo3 motherboard. Nice work with the review;)

  • Sweet! Glad I could help and thanks for the nice words. Have a good one.

  • I need some help pls. What should I write in drive B(in the end of the video)?

I have an Abit IP35P mb with bios update file m724l_13[dot]bin

  • Does this work with an SD Card?

  • There are probably some out there that would but this particular program doesn't that I'm aware of.

  • Hey

Been trying different methods for the past 5 hours now with no luck. I have an acer aspire one A0751h. I have loaded unetbootin onto my usb stick. I downloaded the latest bios from the acer website. When i go to my boot order there is no usb fdd only usb fdc or usb hdd, can i use any of these? The bios i downloaded from acer doesnt have a .bat file or an .fd file, just an .exe. I used the usb hdd setting in my boot setup and did what you said but i get an invalid opcaode error. help!!

  • If it's an executable file (.exe) you can probably flash the bios without doing this. Some of the manufactures allow you to flash them in windows now and restart once done. Acer might be doing the same thing now. My Asus is that way.

  • Great vid, I do have one question though:

I need to flash a BIOS on a computer that won't currently boot up, so I'd obviously be creating this bootable USB from a different computer that's up and running, then I'll plug it into the non booting computer. Will this work? Or will this only work on the computer that was used to create these files?

    Thanks.

  • That should work fine.

  • THANX MATE! u are a saviour! i can't beleive how easy it was. flashing was a peace of cake. cheers!

  • Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!

  • can i install this on my xp comp then put the usb to flash the bios on a differnt vista comp plz help!!!

  • You should be able to. I haven't tried it.

  • thanks man. everbody only show how bios recover with esc+fn, when the aspire have problem. your the first 1 i found show how to bios update the usual way. works great and my original battery now is able to charge.

  • Somebody PLEASE HELP ME! I'm BEGGING ANYONE! I got the black screen, with the "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" message, and have tried numerous times to flash the bios using fn+esc process, with several USB disk drives, to no avail! Now, I don't even know how to contact Acer! Can somebody please help, or atleast provide their WORKING number? Please, and THANK YOU :'(

  • Correct, you just use "b". Mine doesn't have an actual b drive either.

  • Thks. I was searching and trying out a lot of tutorials that didn't work. Most tutorials are only working in Windows Vista. I like opensource project because of this. They always work, opensource software never let me down. I have (free!)"Freebsd7 Operating system" on my laptop. It works so much smooter then windows. The only thing is that most software that schools force you to use are only windows compatible !

    5 STAR

  • Thanks!

  • no thank you

i needed it so i can format and hack a 120 gb hard drive so i can put it in my xbox 360 and this was 1 of the things i needed

  • Hey, great vid, I was looking for a boot program like this! Now I have few questions:

Is it possible to make few programs to boot from one flash/partition, if yes - how (with standart dos choice, like OS choice on boot or the likes).

Is it possible to make Acronis Secure Zone to boot custom program in adition to Acronis itself.

  • What exactly are you trying to do? There may be an easier way. Are you just re-imaging a drive with Acronis?

  • I want to be able to make bootable programs to boot as I want. In this particular case I wanted to install a bootable partitioner on a hidden Acronis secure zone (which has an Acronis loader in it), and make them be able to boot together through a choice menu. Together with Windows, or separate - doesn't matter.
