whoever said the hospitallers are better are talking crap the templars where. I'm currently studying history and the templars where holy monks trained in warfare to protect christian pilgrims in the holy land, they where feared by the Muslims and hated as they believed holy men shouldn't fight. The hospitallers where knights who wore the hospitallers cross to gain a higher prestige when on crusade and in fact weren't actually that religious and that's why they no longer exist.
they are equal in the game, and they were friends...i love both of them, but in this case what matter is unit position, luck, and charge. as they have the same stats in game :)
To all the Dipshits down there ¥ how are posting stupid comments like
"the hospitallers were the best fighting force in the world"
Shut up the Spartans were and still are today
"the hospitallers were better than the Templars"
Wrong again the hospitallers were mainly and firstly dictors who after the huge boom both economically and in size within the Knights Templars followed suit and started becoming nights securing trade links and estates to try to keep up with the Templars
@FatalJoymonkey1337 obviously not, spartans would not be able to stand against the SAS whilst they where using their firearms and fire support. In terms of training and pure skill the spartans excell at that. They trained from the age they could walk to be warriors. The hospitallers trained from the age of 12. The SAS from around late Twenties, Early Thirties. Most men Rangers, Seals, SAS and Spetznaz alike would not survive the training endured by the Spartans. In a fair fight, Spartans win.
@theirishnation2k10 I am pretty sure that most of today's special forces actually WOULD survive the training, at least the toughest guys. What is a fair fight? No equipment? If so, I am very sure that Spartans would win, but that is not a surprise. After all, today's special forces are trained very, very differently than Spartans were, that is why in my opinion it is impossible to compare special forces to Spartans. Spartans couldn't do para jumps for example ;)
when the templars were wrongly persecuted by king phillip of france and the pope and supposedly all were killed all of there property went to none other then the hospitallers and it may just be a coincidence that during the pesants revolt hospitallers were singled out and killed, or could it be the templars still existed and got there revenge?
well the hospitalers had a longer time to build up the speed of their charge. therefor the effect of the charge = more kills at the first contact. it may seem like nothing, but in this case of a smaller scale battle it does give the hospitalers an edge.
and if case u want to argue about the distence and speed... the templars where stationary at the time the hospitalers were allrdy well on their way. they hardly had a chance to lower their lances before the hospitalers where on em...
Sorry to disagree, but you couldn't be more wrong. The Templar didn't slaughter the people of Jerusalem, the Knights Teutonic and the Crusader forces did. The Knights Templar tried to stop the slaughtering, and ended up leaving the holy land and never returning.
The Pope didn't like that the Templar stopped obeying his orders, so he had their leader killed and their order disbanded.
The Templar and Hospitaller were the good guys, the Teutonic were the bad.
well actually everyone in the order of the knights templar was tortured to 'admit' they were devil worshippers, consequently they were burnt on the stake. the french king wanted their money that they never spent (because they were warrior monks) because they were very rich from the crusades and other stuff.
@ParadigmShiftr are you talking about the 1099 jerusalem massacre ? if so u might wanna know that no knight orders ever existed until the time after the first crusade
Hospitallers and templars were ( friends ) but there was a battle in egypt between the knighthoods. Interesting fact is that many of the templars joined ranks with the hospitallers (knights of Malta) when the templars were destroyed by the knig of france.
A battle between the knighthoods in Egypt you say? Does that include the Teutonic Knights as well or just the Hospitalers and Templars? What's your source of info?

@theirishnation2k10 Are you implying that 24 Spartans would beat 24 SAS operatives in a fight, where they both use their own equipment? ;)

I love both the Templars and the Hospitallers, but the Templars are the ones who base every action of theirs in war. It's only suitable they win.

@redfan45x: That's a lie. The true Templar never did that, The Teutons and Crusader armies did.
The Templar actually tried to get everyone to safety, then left the holy land and never came back.

@redfan45x They didn't massacre everyone in Jerusalem, you ignorant moron.
