  • Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, was just a fictitious band created by Paul, and it still better than any other band name from that short lived period...it destroyed everything else in it's path like a fucking tsunami !

  • 0:55 Ringo can sit on water! Magic

  • this is the peak of music SGT PEPPERS. then the shity 80s came along and the rest is history as thay say.

  • The Who - Maximum R&B

  • George Martin is such a likeable fellow.

  • A day in the life is amazing. Amen.

  • Such an amazing album.

  • the part where paul talks about sending the record on tour instead of them and referes to Elvis sending his cadillacs, says we don't do that kind of stuff. and elvis was sgt.pepper

  • I can see the sadness in George Martin's eyes as he talked about John. I think the other three were better at hiding it - especially Paul.

  • You can see the undeniable love and respect he had (has) for John.

  • "I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends."

They have better songs, deeper songs, more creative songs...

But THAT song simply IS The Beatles, through their touring and recording and all the things they went through together, they DID get by with a little help from each other!

(And really, EVERYONE gets by with a little help from their friends, they need somebody to love and I'm certain that it happens all the time that you get high, that you try with a little help from your friends!)

  • you can tell george martin gets emotional :'(

  • the part where John talks about Day in the Life and what its about proves the stupid 'Paul is dead' rumor that says the car crash is about paul who deid in the crash is untrue for those who doubt!

  • Sgt. Pepper was such a unique idea- only The Beatles could've though up a wild album with all these things like the special suits, the amazing album cover and of course the music

  • the smile of anthology!!!! 9:06

  • A Day in the Life, what a song, I love George Martin's reaction to the first take, he's right, John's voice sends shivers down your spine. Ah, the things The Beatles created will never be surpassed, eternally mind-blowing.

  • I would say Pepper perfected the expiramental type album, but there aren't too many Beatle fans that consider it their favorite, at least that I know. I think Revolver is their best because it is sort of a Pepper/Rubber Soul combination, and it really just has everything on it...but I guess it's all opinion and the reality is that when it comes to the Beatles there really is no wrong answer.

  • nah...it's cool. but in the end all there songs are amazing

  • @TEgnoto89

Measured song for song, the White Album is vastly superior to Sgt. Pepper... but Pepper was so innovative in terms of production, that people tend to romanticize it's qualities when they compare it to other Beatle's albums. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing record, but it's definitely not their best.

  • @1925phantom

I definitely agree with you. Of all their core albums, Sgt. Pepper is the weakest (track for track). Rubber Soul, Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour, the White Album, and Abbey Road all contain vastly superior songs. However, there is this mythology surrounding Sgt. Pepper. Granted, I don't dislike it; but, if I want to listen to Beatle music, I don't think of it first. Fixing a Hole, Lovely Rita, Good Morning, Good Morning...I would rather listen to other songs.

  • I totally agree with this assessment. Had they included Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, however, the album would have been a lot stronger.

  • Sgt. Pepper was slated for a June 1967 release, but the Beatles had not issued a single since Eleanor Rigby/Yellow Submarine back in August 1966. In those days, that was an unfathomably long time between singles (especially long since they had not had a Christmas release). In the end, the inclusion of Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane on the Magical Mystery Tour album really made that album very special. For that reason, MMT is a great album.

  • You are quite correct, however, SFF and PL, SHOULD have been on Sgt. Pepper... just in terms of recording chronology. In fact, George Martin has always maintained his biggest regret was not including the songs on Pepper. And yes, I realize this would have made MMT a weaker album...but you have to remember the album (a US release) is not what the Beatles had intended. They released MMT (in the UK) as a double EP, with only the 6 tracks from the MMT movie.

  • @Doleafol Other songs like With a Little Help From My Friends, Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds, When I'm Sixty Four, or A Day in The Life? :)

  • I personally really like Abbey Road and the White Album too ... I like some things from Sgt Pepper but not as much as those albums as total albums.

The second side of Abbey Road with the inter-connected sections is really one of my favourites.

  • hahaha ♥sugar plum fairy sugar plum ♥fairy . hahaha i love it !!!

  • sgt peppers lonely hearts club band good album

  • good ? GREAT album. Probably the greatest of all time.

  • it is indeed the # 1 by rolling stone magazine.!

  • Un homenaje también a ese genio del sónido, George Martin, que sin su contribución la música que hoy escuchamos, tanto la actual como la atnerior, no serían las mismas ni tan maravillosas.... Me mata la ternura de su mirada al estar reproduciendo "A day in the life".

  • If you're listening to this with the headphones on. the music on the anthology sounds better then the beatles music on my ipod

  • well... listen the LP!!!! the best sound

  • george martin, wow.

  • Why is that?

  • Cus I compose and produce music for a living?

  • you're really full of shit and sound stupid running your mouth. let me break it down. I still can't get over the fact that you are delusional enough to actually think that you are as good as George Martin.

HAHAHA! I laugh at your arrogance and ignorance. keep dreaming buddy.....

  • In the last couple minutes of this clip, you can see George Martin transported - suddenly back there... the sad eyes and smile reflecting a memory of someone that meant so much to you and is gone.

  • So true, you can see in his eyes that he was reliving it at that moment... and misses John so much.

  • Absolutely, you can see it looked like George Martin still gets shivers from hearing that first take. I knew it gave me shivers.

If there was someone who deserved to be called the Fifth Beatle, it has to be George Martin.

  • yeah, couldn't agree with you more :)

    and it's a magical song :)

  • @Boojkill no it was brian epstien :p

  • is the "sugar plum fairy" thing actually recorded on the album? because if so, i'm hijacking the nearest record player and listening to it over and over until I hear it.

  • No that was just from the first take

  • dammit.

  • no on the record i heard it i always wondered what he was saying i dont know if its on all the records or somthing but it might

  • You can hear it on the "Love" album.

  • If Penny Lane didnt make it to number one then why is it on the 1 album?

  • If it was #1 in Britain OR U.S.A., it made it to the 1 album.

  • Im guessing ringo lives in LA?

  • You can see how much George Martin misses John when he plays A Day In the Life

  • Marvellous Video!!!

    Grandma mary

  • Sugar Plum Fairy...thats classic! I love it!

  • Last couple minutes or so in this video are fucking powerful.

  • Billy Shears ===> RINGO

George Martin's voice is just awesome. I love it.

    I love Ringo's stripped blazer. It's rad!

George Martin is just so sad. They all miss.

  • ringo looks cool

  • the bedroom they keep showing with the radio interviews is my dream room...all that beatles memorabilia! :D

  • something very addicting about being in the benifit of mr.kite. veeeery addicting!

  • it's so great. it has something that you can't explain.

  • oh at the end when he was listening to jon the poor guy was crying!!! wow they must all miss him alot...

  • wait... magical myster tour is AFTER sg. pepper lhcband

  • "Sugar plum fairy, sugar plum fairy"

Ah, look at dear George Martin. almost crying.

  • You are an idiot....

I can't belive people still belive this Paul being dead shit...

  • Yeah, Paul is dead and I am a pig.

  • dude, you're pretty talented for a pig, typing and all that. j/k. but really, paul is dead? yeah. ok.

  • those paul dead vids don't prove ANYTHING those people are a bunch of crack heads! every thing every clue every story has been proved wrong and been given an explanation plus dude think about it that story gave them ALOT of publicity they played it up on PURPOSE!! so freaks and little kids would buy the lp's and play them backwards to find **clues** look at the paul is not dead vids...way way more convincing

  • I have a Paul Is Alive video. And you are right. It's so obvious Paul is alive. There is no point arguing with those people who believe otherwise.

  • Strawberry Fields Forever

  • wow...deeply touching ending..You can see that george martin feels emotional when he hears johns voice,of course he would though!!

    R.I.P John

    xxxxxxxxxx

  • definitely a bit haunting... very cool

  • Don't quote me on this because I don't know the exact details but the reason why Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields didn't reach number 1 was because it was billed as a double A side. There was a rule that made each side count as a separate single and they were canceling each other out. Anyway it did very well. I think it reached number 2.

  • never no what you got till its gone

  • George is of course, the master that he is, so right here. Shivers go down my spine everytime I hear that song, and I think of John.

  • poor george martin

  • I have that whole interview with John and Paul at the beginning. They talk about Pepper.

  • Oh my freakin God!!!! the ending made me cry so hard! this song was played at my brother's graduation in memory of some kids who got killed in an accident

  • It is indeed moving, the last part...

  • very moving with George Martin a normaly reserved man thinking about John

  • look at how sad george martin is while he listens to john sing a day in the life. you can tell how much he misses him

  • the last part (the first take of a day in the life), with john singing, it made me cry.

  • Me too, not quite but I was very touched.

  • Could youi post this one again please? It broke after about 3 minutes and i can't watch it. Thanks!
