@emosikoloto There is some footage of the Animals Tour, like in Vienna and Anaheim (The Pig Exploding). That footage was recorded by random people in the audience. But, I don't know why this tour was never professionally recorded. I would love to have seen the Inflatable Family coming out above the stage during "Dogs".
Unreal... The outro solo is quite possibly my favorite lead guitar of all-time. Gilmour doesn't nail it here like he does on the studio version but with everything else going on (and the like 20 min version of this tune) it really doesn't matter. Just an unbelievable performance by the entire band.
he said that during a break between the songs a loud fan in the front yelled out "Roger, play careful with that axe, eugene" and then roger spit on him. sooo....
did roger just spit multiple times or something? because im hearing alot of different stories but i trust mostly Nick Mason's account on it
Do u think its a coincidence that the band took a break after this song? When Roger is irked, he is great. I almost wish someone would piss him off during all of his shows. Awe inspiring rant.
According to a witness at the show, who also took still photographs of part of the concert, says the "spitting incident" happened during this song, Pigs (three different ones) at the point where Roger is yelling at someone in the mic. He says "Come here boy!" which can be heard in this clip at 6:59. He said that Roger leaned down to where the guy was, and spit a large amount of spit into his face. Apparently the guy had thrown something at Roger earlier in the show. Look at WrayLS on youtube
Yeah, I know the spitting incident happened. The guy said that Roger spit on him during Us and Them and not Pigs. When I said "I listened to it and there is no indication he spit on anyone", I was talking about Us and Them, not this. I
At the end. They did us and them as the last song. Gilmour was scolding the audience at the beginning. Gilmour walks off stage after Roger spits on the kid. During this song I think Roger is just yelling at the pig.
It does seem like the band is trying to egg Roger on when they ramp up the tempo and volume during the crescendo of the song where Roger spits on the guy. When I first heard this song and realized what was actually transpiring, I was thinking "wow, this is such an epically intense moment both musically and historically!" Of all of the Animals bootlegs I've heard, this has the most intense and heavy crescendo. Perfection.
@RollTheFemers I've listened to this clip so much to understand where all these "spit at..." random comments come from, and the ONLY place I can imagine that the spit is at, is at 7:35 or 7:36 just before "Come on, son!" - not to be confused with the rather dry snare drum hits just before.
There IS video footage of this song being played live. Snowy is on bass and Roger and Dave on guitars. Snowy also played Bass on Sheep and "WTTM" Dave Has said in interviews that he played bass on some of the tracks in the studio ( e.g. Hey You) The 8 track version of Animals features the ONLY recording of Snowy White on "Pigs on the Wing". Snowy takes a lot of flak on here for his " Clapton-like solos" ruining the songs.
It's so amazing when you realize that a lot of the crazed shouts in The Wall (like the live version of Run Like Hell), that are just part of the narrative in the album, were once before real crazy reactions of Roger waters. It's like hearing some moments of the Wall, not like a story, but really happening. Wow.
He yells out 90 61. "90" refers to this, their ninth tour as a band. "61" refers to this, their 61st show of this tour. It was a shoutout to all the people taping the show.
@RollTheFemers He shouted out a different number, or numbers, at every show on theat tour for bootleggers. I guess to tell the difference from each show.
I was born a little late also (1966) so being so young to ctach this great band live, is almost a curse. Look, man--the only thing we can do now is just continue what we're doing: watch it here or listen to CD. BTW, the ending guitar solo ranks amongst the most powerful I've heard EVER.
I already started listening to PF in the early 80´s when i was 4 years old, i always told my father to put on Meddle, One of these days was the first song i remember listening to with a mighty shiver.
And i never stopped listening to it for almost 30 years now.
By the way - god obviously didn´t noticed my send-me-back-in-time-prayer, so i do what you recommended:
Dooders, i was lucky enuff to be at this concert and i never saw Roger spit on anyone; though i needed binoculars to see with! he was very funny the way he made reptilic sounds with his voice!

Right If David Gilmour plays the bass for this song in the studio, who is playing it live? surley gilmour is playing the lead guitar live, anyone got any ideas?
Actually, Snowy is on bass in the live version of this song. Roger's on electric rhythm guitar (one of the few songs in which he does so, same with Sheep.)
David wrote the bassline on this song, which is why he played it in the studio. Sheep was Roger's bassline, but David played it in the studio because Roger wanted to play a specific rhythm guitar part instead.
um ok i may not be 100% sure about this live version, but i do kno in the studio, waters plays rhythm guitar. and wright does the backing vocals in the studio. chekc it out for urself. and i have read tht roger plays the bass in the live version. listen to the end of the song, i doubt waters is playing some of those lead licks with gilmour duing the organ solo. anyways this isnt too important, the song is fucking amazing and so is the floyd!!!
Still have seen some live video on 8mm from Vienna I think. I can't find it now on Utube but for sure Rogs on Stratocaster. And hes probably playing only verses (e-C-G-e) and this choruses (A). And in studio he's only singin when Gilmour on the bass and rhytm with solo guitar. I'm 100% sure. That's my favourite live song and I made really deep looking for this infos years ago in many different sources. U can trust me:)
There's never been a confirmation as to who played rhythm guitar on this; either is a good candidate (David because he usually did and was better at it, Roger because the band seemed to like multiple instruments on one take).
Or.. It played Snowy couse it was obvious that Dave's gonna do lead and Roger couldn't handle with bass line that was made and played by Gilmour at the studio.
Actually, your comment mentions both live and studio, and studio is where the dispute is. White was not present in the studio for the recording of the album proper. He was present for only the solo on eight-track version of "Pigs on the Wing." Per White, this is the ONLY time he appeared on a Pink Floyd record.
to keep in time, because it was during this montreal gig that during shine on parts 6 - 9 david and nick went out of time with eachother which means the entire song was either to slow or to fast, so from that moment on, waters wore headphones to know his ques on bass/guitar/singing and to keep in time (a constant metronome is being played)
