Icelander are always optimistic in the summertime, but not now, everything is frozen, banks are selling our energy resources and we are completely asleep as a sheep in the wintertime.
Sorry, but dont feel sorry for us Icelandic people ... we hate that
The bonds have been fading but in time (when we wake up) it will strengthen and a new voice will be heard.
What started this was privatization og government owned banks and companies, that had little or no debt.
These were bought on loans from the other bank(s) and then the loans were transfered to the bank. Now they owed the bank/company debt free without paying anything. Then they started to sell the companies to themselfs and increadse goodwill and pay bonuses.
We either didnt know enough about what was going on, but those who did were afraid, there were powerfull people involved that could ruin your reputation (few people)
The statements are clear, but the arguments? I don't see many. In my opinion, the only thing that is good about this video, with all do respect, is just to make people think and do something about it.
What I think as one of the solutions. People buy lots of things they do not need. Every family should have their economy, thinking about the others. As people in the Iceland are very close to each other, I guess they could manage it. I doubt it about my country, but I have hope.
I like all of yours videos, im from iceland and this mess is bad but my daily life is still the same as it was in 2007 everthing is the same for me and my family the only thing thats really diffrent is the news only the they talk about is this shit
I have no problem with the fall of the icelandic economic and some of the things you are trying to communicate are right. That said, the way you are doing it comes a cross in an degrading way. It looks more like you are making yourself look good and feel all righteous about it. As a example. I have never meet a smart man in my life time, that said he was smart.
How about getting the carrot out from your back end.

it has been devistating to watch and so depressing
making all the poor people much more poor then ever before and growing
my grandparents lost theyre pension and theyre life savings cause the bank was bankrupt
my parent lost theyre lifesavings also and they lost half of what they paid in theyre house in 2 years they own nothing in the house they live in where my siblings live
our neighburs danmark norway sweden have not tried to help us at all its like no one cares very depressing
and food has gone ever the roof
it was always expensive but now it has doubled if not tribbled
watching all this as a very poor person and you have no power over what is happening is very depressing
i say fine take everything we own but dont you dare let our children and theyre children pay for iceslave
you can take everything i have thats ok but dont rob my children of theyre future
we are all very sorry for what happened with iceslave in britain and holland theyre was a very currupt mad man björgólfur and co. who straight out robbed you and stuck us his fellow
One thing I hear far too often is simply that Iceland caused the whole banking disaster. Simply saying "they" (referring to a random icelandic person) "stole our money" it's the "icelanders' " fault and that really grinds my gears when I hear/see comments like that.
We, the people (mr. Jon Jonsson and mrs. Johanna Johannsdottir) lost quite a lot in this mess and some of Gordon Brown's actions haven't helped a bit to solve the IceSave mess (our government did their share of stupid things too).
Nice job Hans. This whole boom and bust economic mess makes me think of untalented pop stars who suddenly become ludicrously famous only to come crashing down (with much help from the drugs they're likely taking). In other words no solid foundation to keep them going. As opposed to a band that slowly over time hones their skills, writing ability and builds a loyal following gradually. Our economic systems need to be based on REAL WEALTH and then need to be allowed to prosper GRADUALLY.
I am not an Icelander but as far as I am aware, Iceland has cheap energy due to the geographical location. So, for me it is easy to think that Iceland will rise by utilizying their cheap energy in energy intensive industries (like heavy industry, metal refiniries etc.).

Should have, could have, would have.

One of the underlying problems was corruption.

Most of the people involved live in UK or Luxemburg so look there? (moved there because it was unbearable to live in Iceland)
