My first instinct is that the cube is "setup" and the guy just recalled the steps that he used to make the cube appear randomly mixed up and reverse them, it's been done so many times by "one time speed cubers" who cannot step up and solve a real randomised cube. before i explain why you are wrong, ill tell you a bit about cubing notations. each side is represented by a letter, U, B, D, L, R, F, each represents a 90 degree turn of that side, and this counter movment, U', B', D', L', R' and F' [that was extremly brieff.]

the sequence you are talking about is RUR'U', or R'D'RD. when doing either of these moves 6 times in a row, the cube returns to that state IT STARTED IN, not necessarily a solved one.

I hate to break it to you (or sound arrogant) but it's incredibly hard to solve the cube side by side. Try to solve the pieces themselves.

I'm building a tutorial on my channel, if it's of any interest to you... Btw I average 14 seconds, if you'd like to know.

One tip would be to not worry about messing things up! If you managed to do a 'side' the first time, surely you will be able to do it again!

They first memorize the unsolved cube state, and then do algorithms suited for a blindfolded solve.
