  • Even though.i got it from.family i acctualy like this song!!! i love jazz!!

  • its the episode called Mother Tucker

  • patatoes mashed yumm

  • funny picture at begining

  • I applaud 'Family Guy' 4 introducing it's viewers (mostly the young 1's) 2 these timeless classics, and them actually liking it. Kudos to Fam Guy. By the way, I LOOOOVE "Hello Darlin" lol. I play it 2 death on my iPod. No lie :-)

  • I won't lie, I was introduced to this song through 'Family Guy,' just like "Bird Is The Word" & Conway Twitty's "Hello Darlin." I'm not ashamed to admit that either, because I was already a huge fan of this type of music anyway (as well as other genre's). Now, 4 those who r new listeners of this type of music, thanks 2 Family Guy, I don't c what that's a problem.

  • June Christy has such an amazing voice...and, I just want to say that I'm a huge lady gaga fan, and I'm also a huge classic jazz fan

    this is an amazing song

  • This song always gives me goosebumps. June Christy was fantastic.

  • If I know it well, this song was recorded in 1959, when my Father was 4 years old. :D I was only 3 when June (and also my Mom) died, and uhm... children are listening to it nowadays, in 2011. This is just staggering...

Not a bad song anyways, greetings from Hungary! ^^

  • Christy, Rugolo, Kenton....gone. and certainly not forgotten. Listen to June's :Thunderball" and you'll never forget her.

  • Is there a karaoke version of this anywhere? thanks lovies.

  • Family Guy video part watch?v=Or3JDLBEJe4&feature=player_detailpage#t=325s

  • I never watched "Familty Guy,": but I've loved June since her Kenton days. This arrangement (whoever wrote it) is particulary "swinging,"

Sadly, June died age 64 in1990 from kidney failure.

  • lol i just watched the episode family guy mother tucker. if it wasn't for family guy i would never find out the name of this song

  • Sounds just like a song that would be on Fallout....

  • Awwww Falout 3. =)

  • I love June Christy's voice!!!

  • family guys the greatest. first it help me find that take on me (by a-ha) now this! she kind of looks like gwen stefani.

  • Dooo Dooo doo doo doooo

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!:D

  • if anybody didn't notice, this song was in an episode of mash.

  • I have been a jazz fan for sixty (60) years and no one, I mean no one has surpassed June. She is the best. Vulnerable ,yet sure. Melodic and pure. The Best.

  • @Aznboyv32 Same. I actually went looking for this afterwards.

  • i heard of this song in one of the father of the bride songs. its far from the type of music i like but i really like this song :)

  • I luvs it. Good time for music.

  • i wish i had a father to play with

  • The song is on the Family Guy episode where Tom Tucker gets involved with Peter's mom. I'm not sure which version it is, but I think it's one of Ella Fitzgerald's.

Anyway I like June's version. She has a great voice!

  • @GraveyardRomance ..it's June Christy. Can't you hear it?

  • @GraveyardRomance Naw, the one featured in the Family Guy episode is this, June's rendition just shortened obviously.

  • I miss the crooners in music, both male and female

  • My name's christy june(:

  • @IronGaz

He doth protest too much. You sure love the word faggot, perhaps you're conflicted and have a case of self loathing...sounds like someone needs to check into rehab, or maybe you just need to give in to your urges...good luck and youre dismissed.

  • @IronGaz

Dude, calm down. Take a chill pill. You obviously have some serious issues that you have to work out...again, learn how to spell. It's sad that you slipped through the educational system with a remedial understanding of basic grammar. Your parents must be so proud of you!

  • @IronGaz

I see no reason why you have to call her a whore when she has probably accomplished more in her entire life that you ever will. Sad that you have to resort to name calling on someone who has never done anything to you...

  • @duesselboy stfu everyone is entitled to they're own opinion you little cunt. If i think she's a whore then shes a whore to me. No one ask if she accomplished more then me or not. stop sucking on your mothers tits and get over you pussy.

  • @IronGaz

That's right Christy, keep telling yourself that...oh by the way, learn how to spell...

  • There is no better version of this song...

  • She's awesome. I think they smoked back then and didn't last long but WOW, she made an impact. I'm so glad you younger people are exploring and listening to these fabulous one of a kind singers, you gotta check out Julie London too. She's smoking hot, especially the song, "Go Slow" too hot for the internet.

  • I like her version better than Ella's

  • @ToolPackinMama I agree with ya! They're both good singers though. June's version is alot more catchy.

  • my favorite version.

  • 4 plp did not get a simple life

  • I heard the Fitzgerald version on record, I honastly like June's version, I prefer having all these song on record, analog was much better then today's digital

  • i heard it from father of the bride, went perfect with the concept of the film

  • such a cute voice. why does it seem like only people from tha old days had voices like this?

  • @BabyPixie21 Because today when they mix vocals the put a high pass filter @ 300 Hz on female vocals. This pretty much kills the fundamental note so that only the harmonics are emphasized. This is why the newer pop vocals all sound alike. This and Autotune.

  • @SGPlayer0008 wow... so much i dont know

  • @BabyPixie21

Simply put....I said so much before about this great, great beautiful singer, that I am now out of words. great musicianship, great phrasing, sexy husky voice, faultless intonation, one of the best female singers ever!. There ARE NOT singers with musicianship like this anymore, with very few exceptions.

  • @casch0101 i agree. of course justin bieber is an exception. tha best male singer EVER

  • @BabyPixie21 Not even close... Sorry to break it to you...

  • @fall3none91 no no. sorry to break it to YOU. because he is and always will be the best

  • @BabyPixie21 haha okay, okay, we'll see how long his five minutes last.... in the meantime, go watch his movie little girl LOL

  • @fall3none91 first of all i am a teen. and HELL YES am i seeing his movie. he has been famous for 2-3 years now and he will be famous until he is old and grey. dont hate

  • @BabyPixie21 uhh dude sorry to break it to you but steven tyler outshines that pre pubescent bitch by 500 miles xD

  • I'm doing this song in chorus .

  • Thank you Mr.Griffin

  • They need this song in Fallout...

  • Give Me the simple life. Just let me listen to this great great songstress.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • i miss the simple singing with music in the background.....not this new synthesizer shit

  • All you people complaining that people are mentioning they saw this song on family guy shut up. Yes, it is a jazz standard and such, but just be glad Family Guy introduced a classic to a generation full of Lady Gaga and MTV Beiber drones to real music.

  • @DeleteThisMF you know what's funny, i half agree with you but all their doing it letting people know that they may watch family guy which is an unintelligent show, but they still like good music... it's kind of like me i listen to punk and ska and rock and wear leather vest but i still love the ink spots and ella fitzgerald xD

  • @DeleteThisMF agreed , classic jazz > billboard chart shit

  • @DeleteThisMF Just throwing this out there this song sounds like it should be in fallout........

  • @DeleteThisMF uhm have you heard any lady gaga? its really good, everyone i kno likes her, even the hipster haters admit it lol. but ur statement mostly accurate. =)

  • Family guy ily lol i learn so much music through the show

  • I love this music so much, along with lots of old rock and punkrock, and deathcore. This is defenetly the most soothing.

  • Family Guy didn't send me here.

My grandmother did! I now love June and similar artists like Sinatra and Dean Martin!

  • i like this version the best..her beautiful voice leaves me breathless

  • This is a 'standard' well=known to jazz lovers since it was composed 65 years ago

by Rube Bloom for the movie "Wake Up and Dream.' The June Christy and Ella

Fitzgerald versions attracted almost 200,000 viewings before today's TV audience

ddiscovered the swinging ballad on "Family Guy.' and thought it was something new.

  • thx dad for loving this kind of music!!!!

  • thank you family guy!!!

  • i luv family guy! :D And this song!

  • @Aznboyv32 me too (:

  • oh and one OTHER comment.....its a shame there arn't REAL singers like this...these days, it's all that auto tune shit...

  • haha also heard this on fg. but it should be on fallout 3's soundtrack, sounds like it fits right in!

  • love this song. It makes me think of living in a small, nice clean house in the country. ^_^

  • Now this is music!

  • Weird, I always thought this was Doris Day.

    She sounds fantastic!

  • I would have never heard of this song if it wasn't for the Family Guy episode "Mother Tucker"

  • holy fuck me too

  • This song was also used by Campbells Soup as Give Me The Campbell Life some years ago.

  • The song on Candid Camera sounded like "Give Me the Simple Life". I think the composer of the Candid Camera theme might have "lifted" it.

  • what a sweet song hahahaaha

  • Same here :)

  • lol i just saw the family guy episode and looked this up!

  • haha, same did I!!

second episode from the 5th season

  • hahaha thats what i just did

  • i loe how many things are made popular just by being played for like 15 seconds on family guy

  • @alex6734 Seth Macfarlane loves this type of music he even has an album where he sings Lounge music, i'm glad good music comes out in a great show lol

  • The Family Guy episode was "Mother Tucker".

  • Are any of you old enough to remember when this song, although not sung by June Christy, was the theme song for Allan Funt's "Candid Camera" T.V. show? At that time, I didn't realize what a nice song it truly is......and with lyrics!

  • Bravo to Family Guy for introducing a new audience to this genius work. Great tune.

  • This is awesome! I think I'll look her up!

  • Also heard instrumental versions on

M*A*S*H and a trio sang it on there as well!

  • i jus heared this song on family guy and i had ta come look this song up lolz i love it!!!!!

  • family guy? tater tot potatas

  • she sounds like a 1940s black jazz singer. I LOVEEE her rendition

  • One my favorite songs...Mel Torme and The Four Freshmen have great renditions of this song as well.

  • June was every bit as good in person as on record. Plus in person she exuded charisma. She was in a word terrific.

  • beautiful this is going on my 40's playlist

  • @GermanSniperBayArea

This song was recorded in the 1950s...

  • What a gigantic talent Ms Christy is! And nice to know she's stilll going strong. I read somewhere that she recently had a singing engagement in San Francisco. I love this song & her delightful rendition of it. And that band REALLY can swing! THANKS so much for sharing this gem with us! :)

  • Aside from the vocal talent, listen to that low brass section.. Monsters!!

  • She Has Such A Pretty Singing Voice <3

  • THIS is the one on family guy :D

  • can anyone point me to songs similar to this?

  • If you mean upbeat songs you should try "Relax Max" by Dinah Washington and maybe "Kiss of Fire" by Georgia Gibbs.

  • upbeat jazz?

  • Relax Max is upbeat jazz Kiss of Fire is more of a tango, but I personally think it's upbeat.

  • Epic perfect music to finish up homework to.

  • Yeah this was in the episode of Family Guy called "Mother Tucker" It's the part when Peter, his mom, and Tom Tucker spend a day out as a family.

  • All the music and the performers from back in the day was something else to behold. Life was obviously much more simple with a better quality. This rendition and Madame Ella's are both fantastic!

"Lost In A SUmmer Night" is to be mentioned for its beauty and simple characteristics. And it was the theme all through "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" movie. Thanks for posting another song from a beautiful girl. Peace Clark
