  • I used to watch Television, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • All those who're so proud they don't watch TV have simply switched gears and moved to the internet. Technology doesn't disappear, it just gets replaced with another. Read 'The Technological Society' by Jacques Ellul.

  • @dharmashooter I'm just worried about addiction to devices. If I use Internet sources that are not ad supported, then I doubt the Web is as bad as TV. Reading my mail is hardly the same as watching four straight hours of programming and commercials. Also many apps on the Internet are truly interactive, which TV never could be. But don't worry about my exposure to French intellectuals: I still have Situationists texts to comb through.

  • @powergirl901 My argument is not between various technologies but against technology as a whole. But to take that stance in today's world is tantamount to heresy, People will get mighty angry and rationalise justify it. People may switch off the TV saying 'Big Brother is not getting inside MY head' but when you go on the internet you're now inside Big Brother's head! Don't you see the problem? Everything you do on the internet can be tracked and traced.

  • I believe television was and is the most insidious device ever invented. It has elevated the art of propaganda to heights never thought possible. It is the most successful mass mind control device ever devised and can be found in almost every home in the industrialized world. People trust what they see and hear on the television. Television "programming" isn't what you thought it was, they aren't programming shows they are programming you!

  • not of any use.......

  • infowars com

  • alright so watching TV gets me pumped then i go outside and do Shit sounds like a win win to me

  • But isn't using the computer (for me it's mostly just the internet) just as brainwashing as watching the TV ?

  • Porn , violence, deception, perversion .... this is what awaits when you switch on TV.

Ban TV from your life entirely and you will slowly feel a cleansing of yourself after 6 mos. TV harms everyone !

  • we should spent time with our lover, not tv or newspaper... anyone got that?

  • "we should spent time with our lover, not tv or newspaper... anyone got that?"

    @SkulLzSouL

    How about a compromise...say a rolled up newspaper? :-)

  • Tremendous. Your video has already penetrated my subconscious mind. :o)

  • @TheThinkerGuyZ come like "I'll sniff coke but not smoke crack"

  • Great video.

  • So, this doesn't really cover things like HBO or Showtime who do not use corporate sponsorship, but rather direct funding from the consumer. Though, I did want a sausage and peppers sandwich after watching the Sopranos, and I did want bourbon after watching Deadwood.

  • @matterofpat2 watching the television effects your brainwaves, period. It's called Television PROGRAMMING for a reason ;-D

  • Sources? Evidence?

I agree TV distracts and enforces conformity, but evidence would be nice and more persuasive.

  • there are two videos you my find interested, Youtube ARE YOU A PYSCHIC? THE THIS TEST and DYING NASA SCIENTIST, one explains how any one on tv CAN choose mental imagery to send to you through hypnosis, and one shows how nasa is concealing the truth about Et's because they are NOT ALL physical beings like us, in fact, the scientist exact words are "psycho-spiritual' entities that can exists as a parasite of conciousness, manifested in your thought, speech, and behaviour patterns.

  • @buddaxX520Xx he goes on to say how the entities easily travel through the fourth dimension of our reality (frequencies, or radio waves). Now there ARE negative, and positive frequencies, everything in life is polarity, and some ppl like to keep rulership by playing on our duality, that dual good vs bad guys nature in us, fight or flight, reptilian brain, whatever we call it, they know its there. Why do you think TV/Rad stations legally can only use a minimal of the total spectrum of frequencies

  • When children watch shows with animals talk does that change their opinion on whether animals talk or not? Even children can discern what is made up and what is real.

  • Two thumbs high up!

  • @lizza1984 I don't think computers induce alpha brain state because usually you interact with your computer which keeps you wide awake, but if you just sit there and watch stuff like on tv then it may do.

  • I've been sitting on the computer watching videos on youtube about TV with no clue my tv was on for about atleast 5 hours now

  • does the computerworkthe sameway....does it also induce an alfa level brain wave state?

  • TV is the modern day DEVIL

  • i use 80% internet 30% books ano TV!!

  • Comment removed

  • I use 90% internet , 9% books and 1% TV .

  • "Television is an anesthetic for the pain of the modern world."

Huh? When you open the TV all you see is death and then people being happy. Doesn't that make you more cynical and aggressive than happy and relaxed?

  • i understand about the tv, but the internet you get to view what you want on there dont you ohhhhhhhh wait a minute no we dont god bless america for freedom of speech go fuck your selves (government) its only because we the public are researching our own fucking news because your making us sick from spoon feeding us your bullshit. "somebody shut him up" dont believe a fucking thing you see on the news its there to manipulatethe feeble minded do your own research its in plain sight.

  • This documentary sucked.

  • A dirty secret of mine is that I haven't watched TV in years. Creepy....

  • I only use my computer... and I only like buying computer parts...:)

  • Read "Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television" by Jerry Mander, a former advertising genius who quit the business in the 70's following his awakening. Listen to his interviews on the left. And, simply refuse to watch any/every form of violence being perpetrated on another human being. It's time to stop the Hollywood insanity that infests our culture.

  • @beakerlabassistant This almost reads like I posted it myself. I remember reading his book in 1984 and scaring some 11 year old kid next to me at the library, who worried aloud, "is somebody going to eliminate television?" It's amazing he knew what "eliminate" means, but nevertheless...

  • 0:56 The author leaves important details out of their content just like people on TV do.

The TV is controlled & regulated by FCC first & foremost. To broadcast on TV you need to get a broadcasting license from the state. You must be state approve.

No state is going to give a broadcast license to somebody to broadcast in prime time in every living room across the country that is going to tell you why the state has to go away.

Nobody a part of its protection racket will ever teacher you that.

  • And this, my friends, explains how leftist supporters are "formed"

  • Modern, western, feminized TV is crap....

  • How is watching youtube channels any different? You just get more diverse crap.

"Buy my stuff" is akin to "subscribe to my channel". In fact the internet is worse, it's 24/7.

Any argument for TV is the same for internet.

  • @Shrunkenhead61 indeed, i agree the net is worse.......a sea of bullshit, but like tv......you do find a few truly beautiful things if you swim through it

  • I love my TV. I just make a cup of tea when the adds are on. Tea solves all of lifes problems... and a buiscuit.... and some milk.. maybe some sugar.. a hint of cinnamon... mmmm Tea, Barry's tea.

    Drink tea!!

  • Could've been an intelligent and valid argument for taking your TV, and dumping it in the garden shed ...but ruined at the end by some mind-jarring hip-hop music.

    Waste of time.

  • @Hellishcrusade ?it was just a drum beat

  • thats not what hypnosis is brah

  • cheap propaganda

  • TELEVISION =TELL LIE VISION or TELL LIVE VISION =TV

  • This isn't true of all television. There are entire counties, countries and large cities whose TV stations are partially paid for by local businesses. Claiming that all TV is brainwashing is also false - it's not like every show ever written had some underlying design for control in it. That 70's Show wasn't there to make you buy 70's memorabilia, or solely for commercial time, the entire production of the show went to entertainment and laughter.

  • Groovie stuff!

  • So it works by causing us to supress our natural reactions to horror, which allows us to accept the horror that goes on around the world?

  • @RobDeManc no it makes you see the horror in the real world with the same complacency you see violence on tv. especially considering most of our exposure to the horror in the world is on tv. I'm not so sure our minds react much differently to the violence on news reports vs. violence on HBO. Sure looks mostly the same.

  • There's even more to it. Your primal extinct to hunt for food is still alive and well in your brain and picks up on the brightness and any fast moving objects. Chemicals are then released into your body to encourage a proper reaction. But because you are just watching a box with a screen the adrenaline spike you experience becomes counter productive. Now larger problems in your psyche can begin to develop based on your dosage. Any trained professional is willing to give your child drugs.

  • @TheAntiFascist2010 Of course, they are suffering from a mental illness. Really? Maybe they have experienced induced psychosis because the chemicals in their body reacted to the images on the TV. But when the body began to experience the emotion from these heightened levels the world around them rejected the new urges creating a delusion in that they would have been out right crazy to act on their new feelings. This is how TV induces hypnosis psychosis and creates addictive personalities.

  • I wanted to know how a TV works, not some propaganda like 9/11 conspiracies or 2012!!

  • @smokenfly514 you should wach this...it's a lot more important than the way a TV "works"

  • Nice one I added it to my ''EDUCATION 4 ZOMBIES'' playlist... lol

  • that is Philo Farnsworth's Fault

  • Now you know why you all look like short black spiky hair grease pits and bald serial killers.

  • I found myself passively mesmerized by this video as I slipped into alpha mode and surrendered my mind to the video . I now feel the need to go out and engage in frenetic mindless behavior

  • I found myself passively mesmerized by this video as I slipped into alpha mode as i surrendered my mind to the video . I now feel the need to go out and engage in frenetic mindless behavior

  • Great video. Thanks!

  • ever stop to think that maybe the same shit is in our computers? (at least big name operating systems, such as Windows) I know it sounds crazy, but you really can't underestimate the ability of the illuminati. There's ads/comercials on youtube already, internet is replacing television, and they are realizing this I think. Theres more than one way to skin a cat, that's for damn sure. They control most music and movies too; they ARE Hollywood.

  • So fake T.V isn't bad, like imagine America having a 13 Trillion dollar debt while most Americans are watching Justin Biebers smash hit baby baby LOL this could not be the case, can it? NEW WORLD ORDER = ECONOMIC SLAVERY wake up people.

  • everything can manipulate human beings... reality is just like FullHD-3D television... you can be manipulated by weather, feelings, a car... and million other things...

  • @QwAdr0x256 Good point.

  • I just figured out why there's no porn on Nickelodeon................. thumbs up if you think so too?

  • Really good video!

  • I paid $5000 for my TV 7 years ago and it was the worst feeling I ever felt, Almost sickening. Really, It wasn't the amount of money but the "what did I need this for" Idea, and what the hell am I doing to my kids letting them watch crap. I am better off without it the Tv stays down stairs out of the way

  • @12bbitchin I've paid a lot of money for my TV as well, however i rarely watch tv programs. I use it for watching movies and the ps3 :) which will have their dark use as well i suppose.

  • Question, I haven't watched television in years because television sucks.

Youtube and torrents are kind of like my new TV. Does Youtube have a similar effect on the mind?

  • @GreatFairyWars YOUTUBE=

    1. Socialnetwork, it is meant to monitor everyone's opinions,

with the use of their partners they can test people's way of

thinking, for example sayin': Scary elitist? They will then look

at our comments and ratings of the video.

    2. Surveilance, youtube was designed and created to

make the elitists see all our video, this is also why

    the community grows so fast

    3. The creators are supported by the illuminati,

they became rich, musty be big business!!

  • @Ruttie2 lol, "Illuminati".

  • @GreatFairyWars i prefer to call them the KILLUMINATI,

they're my KILLUMIBUDDIES and they're KILLUMIAWESOME!

  • @GreatFairyWars yes, but you get to choose the content which removes most of the brainwashing aspects of TV

  • The orchestral version of the song was a lot easier to appreciate.

  • yes..this land is ours..love

  • No overpopulation, just bad management. The whole human in the world can fit into Australia with enough land to raise plants & animal. Yea we have to go back to the days where we live by the food we grow ourself, no need to worry about paycheck & falling fake currencies & bad designed economics.

  • Anyone interested in further understanding the effects of television should find "The Evil Eye: The unacceptable face of television" by Guy Lyon Playfair. Published in 1991, he outlines all the negative effects of television on society. Reading the book in 2010; his suggestions and predictions (from back then) are so spot on.

Amazing book, Got rid of the TV.

  • NO............. the world is not overpopulated ! and its only the TV / Mass media that tells us that it is . in order to get us to accept our own destruction . watch the video again and understand what it is telling you . these Utopian type systems will work for only a limited amount of "useful" people the surplus will have to be disposed of ... we've seen this before .

    like i said ............ wake up !

  • This is so true!!..i can feel it..I mean after i have watched alot of movies and sitcoms or stuff like that i feel like real life is so dull..so slow..so stupid..and that either causes depression or hyperactiveness (if there's such a word)

  • havnt turned tv on in nearly 2 years now!! its sits there collecting dust (LOL)

  • The Best way to take care of the this problem in the long run is to switch over to a resource based economy.

TheVenusProject dot (com) and theZeitgeistMovement dot (com) for a resource based economy not based on money that is sustainable.

Look for the Zeitgeist Addendum movie here on face book to see how the money system works and to learn of the Venus Project.

  • @SpiritLadyArtist Absolute Nonsense!

  • @ItchyClickfinger IN your mind it is not in millions of others. Do your reseach on how bad pollution is getting and technological unemployment before you say it is nonsense.

I know it will be because there is no other option at this point.

  • @SpiritLadyArtist the venus project and Zeitgiest addendum is are propaganda for the simple minded , The world population stands at 6,697,254,041 . can you see them all living in the californified wonderland that is portrayed in Zeitgiest ..? cop on ! wake up !

  • @ItchyClickfinger yea..the world is too over populated for something like this to happen..

  • why not read a book it's TV in your head and there's no commercials. You can make it any type of story you want basically its all dependant upon your mind!

  • Has anyone noticed the "community service" air time for your local news, yes that is a partial mandate on the lease is to provide a community service time slot, is usually made up of 80% commercials? You have the pointless weather time eating up most of the "informative time" then the private businesses of sport time, and how many special reports that just described a new product for you to go out and buy? Some 'community' service -monopolized by fed law lately.

  • omg, that's exactly what i need but is english :( i need it in spanish or something like that could someone help me please :(!!!!

  • good video, but suggestion: the music in the background doesnt go so well with the overall vibe of the video and what the video's message is. Because the music is at a faster-based tempo, it is almost hard to focus on what the guy talking is trying to tell you.

  • NOT completely true.

though many do have this ZOMBIE problem and ive seen the effect

  • Information

  • @pinto9988 I don't get people are talking trash about television. Yes it's run less than 12 CORPORATIONS! But lots smaller companies have TV Shows too! And the independent videos vs company debate. Will there is still PUBLIC ACCESS. Where people can upload videos.

  • Your brain has a natural 'info gatherer', basically, you can easily be scared of something you see off TV (for example, my fear was zombies), because technically you have seen the zombie and what it does.

And action movies make daily life seem boring - if you spend a lot of time watching action movies then you will automatically think these things happen alot - yet they don't, and there's your result. Technically, the TV is the ultimate brainwashing weapon.

  • Comment removed

  • Brainwashing Made Simple.

  • Glad i threw away my TV :)

  • i wonder how tv REALLY works actually...

  • @kryptikkk777 Simpler than you might think. 1)The camera scans the scene and the TV reproduces this in your home only one tiny dot at a time. But this dot can scan so quickly that it can travel across a whole line in several hundreths of a second. 2) Then it starts the next line until the whole picture is drawn.( it's still one moving dot at any one time but this happens so fast that your eye thinks it's seeing a whole picture at once.

    3) It repeats this for the next frame. 30 per second.

  • @kryptikkk777 I rather wanna know what

it does to me, than knowing how it ''works''

  • @kryptikkk777

    I'm scared of snakes.

That's funny because I've never seen a snake.

I saw a film when I was a child and now I'm 22 and I'm still brainwashed into fearing them.

  • Sooner or later the brain will begin to adapt to these types of pictures and will become completly harmless

  • No government is ever going to give broadcasting license to somebody who is going to tell you why the government has to go away.

The truth was licensed out and regulated for monopoly.

  • This video is NOT informational. All the stuff here qualifies as common knowledge. :p

I haven't watched TV in almost 5 years. I get my dose of brainwashing from places like youtube, watching videos like this one! zing!

  • hi there #VIDEOPOSTERID#, incredible video clip! It certainly way too bad that youtube aren't going to allow full length tv episodes as well as movies or else youtube would most likely possibly be the best. Which is the reason why I RANDSET(use|started using|depend on|go with|go to|head over to)# |stream episodes [dot] net| instead in order to enjoy all of the shows and movies that youtube does not have

    How Television Works

  • you guys and your crazy conspiracy theories...I was hoping to find an informative video for my research paper...

  • @ManOfDeath567 I don't think this qualifies as a conspiracy theory. It's a fact that networks get their money from advertisement companies, and corp executives cater to big companies in the interests to keep advertisement revenue that keeps them operational. That's the business model of the network television industry. I didn't see anything that's conspiracy-worthy, although there is definitely some embellishment in the video, probably as a consequence of resentment from a biased point of view.

  • I don't watch much TV. I like my own reality show.

  • Awesome one ... Thanks for that Information ... Really Informative

  • is there any difference from watching videos on the internet than on tv? because I dont watch tv and when I do its natgeo and discovery, things to do with learning so basically if your active when watching something then these things wont happen? like say your reading something on tv instead of just watching

  • I hardly watch TV any more. I just watch waht I like on DVD, interent vid sites whenever I want. I cant be arsed with the TV. There are a few things I watch now and then like Dispatches, but as for the rest, its either repeats, antiques, property letting/buying or gardening programmes. In the evenging fake "reality" shows and complete shite.

  • wewefw

  • Funny that the author uses video for his medium. He also doesn't mention that large corporations are made up of millions of individuals...Or that the scripts and values must appeal to the individuals who choose to watch the show or else they're worthless. Society affects what you see on tv. not 1 man in a business suit. And this thing about being hypnotized is b.s. If that were true, corporations wouldn't spend all those billions trying to sell their products, People disagree with tv all the time

  • @brettl84 Not exactly, corporations are made of a couple of directors at the top, a bunch of managers and the rest are belt-fed wage slaves.

  • @ChewySatisfaction You can have a few directors and managers...But without stockholders there is no corporation.

BTW...What is your definition of a "slave"???... Corporations follow minimum wage laws just like every other small business. Millions of people working for corporations...quit there jobs and move on to bigger and better things.

  • @brettl84 I'm not saying corporations are perfect. They have legitimate problems...But you extremists are not only wrong...But you fail to recognize the real problems. There are benefits to a corporation and also negatives.

If you have an actual solution (instead of just criticism) I'd love to hear it. Winston Churchill once said "Capitalism is a bad system but its the best we have got!".

  • @brettl84

Good on ya petal, why can't the conned-sumers just shut up and be plain simply normal boring deadweights and heavtweights on the couch veiwing the junk box and swallowing any ol' crap for their own benefit these days, as in the good ol' days

without the internet, their nothing more than 'extremists', we are....

    don't ya just hate them?

  • @brettl84

My solution is to be a pest at best to the system and it worked too...really.

  • good luck with that... You obviously buy many products made by corporations, therefore supporting them.

BTW...people can watch tv and still have active and interesting lives. I have my favorite shows, but the amount I spend in front of the television is minimal. There are much better things to do with my time. so whats the big deal?

...and what is with the "cutesy language"? Do you think changing the word consumer to conned-sumer is clever?

  • @brettl84

Ha l'm a pest :)....don't drive, don't own a car, don't own a mobile or phone, don't own a TV but l have access to one and like you only watch it under contolled conditions, very picky with what I buy at a supermarket boycott all the giant brands...nestle, kelloggs. coca cola amatil, heinz, kraft ...etc etc etc.

l'm available if you want me to shop for you too l get good stuff, yes l

know l'm clever, l cant help it, l've been that way forever :)

  • It seems to me that you live your life in fear, that someones going to "pull one over on you." You forgo oppurtunities that are in your best interest, because you are so afraid someone is controlling you.

  • @brettl84

Well they did try and pull one over me once which can be traced back to a letter l sent to the media in '98, also the Oz Census Form of that time.

Guess what? l found in 2002 l had been placed under surveillance which then

collapsed exposing them and they fled but in fear.

This oppurtunity confirmed my best interests too, with interest to in its watertight evidence and forgo any fears l had as well...true.

  • Comment removed

  • @SteeAsp bahahahaha omg.

  • @brettl84

Yes omg, usually your kind go all silent and dumbfounded with what l have but in your case l got a response, be it all tongue tied Ha.

Much older than you with an experience you'll never know about other than some ammuntion l've fired back at your little arrows of inexperience.

2 years 7 months with a planted friend nightly in a set up and then to find someone related to my sister by marriage was indirectly involved,

what do you have? nothing and theres nothing like experience.

  • @SteeAsp I wasn't tounge tied....I was cracking up laughing!!!!...No response because I'm just not interested in talking to you anymore. Jeeze, Don't take it personally.

  • @brettl84

Ohhh shucks not fair....l liked pestering you cause your one of the dumbed down, with a channel to hide and no portrait, hiding in fear....spoilt sport!

    :P

    :)

  • @SteeAsp ; )

  • @brettl84

    Cutie....

    :)

  • @brettl84 1: the scripts and commercials determine what appeal to people, that is the point. without Tv if you went into a store, you would have no idea what any of the brand names refer to, everything would appeal to you equally. Instead you see tony the tiger on the frosted flakes or hear TROJAN MAN! when you're buying condoms.

and yes corporations are made up of (thousands) of individuals, but legally and socially they act as one legal individual.

  • television repeats stuff

    some good, some bad

    but some things are true

    1. people still watch the same show even if they saw it 100 times (like the simpsons)

    2. comercials are very often and you´ll probably be convinced to buy their stuff (just to find the next day that they don´t work)

but the fact is that average people don´t care about this and just watch tv, so it´s important to do other stuff

  • Brainwashed by the idiots Box

  • Television and Freemasonry.

  • Television is the vapid Opiate of the Masses.

  • Television is a Masonic Instrument for Mass Indoctrination.

  • okay, this is only true only if the viewer is uneducated or plain ignorant.

  • you still get manipulated unconsciously, these people study sociology psychology marketing they know how to get through you without you even knowing

  • @XxCrAzYAzNxX4 Have you looked around lately? The people you describe are everywhere...

  • This is so true

  • I'm not worried about the television. It's the individual who takes the letters F-A-C-E and says that is it, that is what I see in the mirror, that is dangerous. We are being taught not to see the light but to see the light they want. Your pineal glands are probably so asleep right now, creation is only left to that of the creator. Open your eyes folks and realize that if one can't physically draw him/herself as seen in a mirror, that individual, never knew the TRUTH, or rather put, the ______

  • Mr Lord is jealous. He decided to take the name that he hates.

  • Add religion and you've created the perfect sheeple slaves.

  • how... most people CHOOSE their religions

  • Not true.

  • TV is pretty much forced

  • Just as religon is.

  • :P

    INTERNET FTW!

  • Great book, make the video game!

  • very good!

ha! was uploaded on my 22nd birthday :D

  • Yes, and combine TV's influence with today's average citizen, who can barely distinguish reality from fantasy, and Society ends. The new, 3-D IMAX technology is 10X worse. We are doomed, only a few of us will NOT have those "idiot boxes" (why do you think they are called that ?) on constantly. Good Luck!!

  • Since the attention span of todays adult has been so shortened (mainly by TV watching) , I'm sorry I could not finish watching your entire video to give it an accurate rating. However it does start out well enough.

  • Are you serious?

  • yes I am completely serious. Did you know that cartoons are actually BETTER for children under the age of 12 than educational shows? educational shows present stuff in a watered down way. Cartoons don't. All varieties of vocabulary can be found in non educational cartoons, and cartoons present complex situations, the child might not understand them, but they will try, much better than being handed mushy stuff that is MADE to be easy to understand, you have to work to understand cartoons.

  • Everything else that destroys our attention span? Like what? So nobody had an attention span before TV? You're tuning in to another's consciousness and being told what to think. It uses your emotions and not the your ability to think. You're proven to be more susceptible to ads and violence. Child psychology studies have proven this. You're the first person I've heard that claims this. Studies disprove it.Can you even give any real life examples?

  • Serious about what? Yeah ofcourse this is a great book! They really should make a video game! LMAO i am thee father Luke!

  • Just turn the IDIOT BOX OFF or don't own one.

  • books do the same dern thing. I just have to put a little more effort into it. Video games, now there's humanity's savior.

  • LMAO @ JustAnotherPers0n!!!

Good job totally undermining the meaning behind this clip!!!

  • There's a reason they call it television "programming".

  • is that a telus tv remote?

  • "Read" - 'Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television' By Jerry Mander.
