I love watching this video - such a beautiful birth. I can't have a home birth due to medical reasons but our son is due to come into the world over the next week and my 7 year old daughter and I have watched your video quite a few times as she is going to be at the birth with us. Thank you so much for posting it :)
I think that it's WONDERFUL that you involved your children. And your son helping lift the baby... he will NEVER forget that. GOOD JOB MAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the 2 women by the pool were my midwives, and yes this was at home. I am due with my 5th in Oct '10. We will be going unassisted this time. My daughter (who will be 7 by then) has told me in no uncertain terms that she will be catching this time.

It felt like a little slice of how it must have been generations back, having a baby with the family present and treating it like a part of life, not something to be separated and hidden in a hospital room. I am glad all went well, but, I personally do not think children should be present during the birthing process, except the one being born. That is just my view.
What an awesome birth! I was in the delivery room with my mother when I was 13 , and there is no better form of birth control than to witness it for yourself :) I think it was a great idea to have the kids there , good learning experience!
