Really good stuff! Love the way you fitted the different movie shots in with the music!
I am making a 3D model of this ship and this movie will help get some of the shots I keep having to look at, but have to shuffle around a whole movie! Its all in one place now! - yay
this ship is an abomination and should be scrapped forthwith with extreme prejudice!!!!!! DAMN YOU ABRAMS DAMN YOU!!!!!!! STAR WARS FLUNKY screw up lucas world not roddenbury world.
Funny thing is I found the plot to be quite laminar, despite all the "coincidences" in the movie. Not only that, but simultaneously stimulating both hemispheres of my brain and without being an insult to intelligence. And I when I say intelligence, I mean actual thought processes. Where common sense and regular thinking makes every scene make sense and flowing smoothly.
And my no means dumb down or simplifying it for the lesser intelligent since the lesser intelligent would not understand.
The deflector dish opening was a nice touch, but impulse is not supposed to turn off during warp. The warp engines just "warp" the fabric of space and makes FTL speed possible, but it's impulse that actually provides acceleration.
This movie's visuals were amazing but the plot and actors all sucked, hard. Hopefully they'll do a better job with the sequel.
I've found that this ship looks good from almost any angle...except the one they showed it off with first.. From any other angle she looks just fine. Just the first look as the shuttles approach her...eww, she just looks so wrong at that angle. It just makes her nacelles looks too big.
Boo. This steroid designed, unattractive, monstrosity belongs in a junk pile. I'll take the 60's version or better yet the "A" version {which in my opinion is the most beautiful starship ever in Stafleet} over this pile of crap any day.
Who designs a hanger deck with steel beams all over the place?
Why is the stern so small ? Should it be bigger to support those massive nacelles and also make the hanger deck larger ? So you WONT have beams in your flight path.
@fmscribs ah one of those people too hard to let go of the past and willingly calls anything new junk.. your type is outweighed by people who appreciated the series given almost the same treatment as batman begins, and battlestar galactica;
On the contrary, I thought Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and the Battlestar Galatica TV series were all GREAT. But not the last Trek Movie. It wasn't Trek and it most certainly wasn't even a good movie.
@fmscribs i know what you and Trekfreak likes, AUTHENTIC(to the sixties series) NO ADDITION PURE TREK stuff which only appeals to non open people like!
abrams here did a great balancing act of what to include and what to junk, and a lot of non trekkies became trekkies for that matter
now i do not know why you dont want to see such a franchise mature and given proper treatment instead of the old too much jargon-filled trek movies which is a headache to watch from a typical moviegoers perspective
A lot of people might have liked the last Trek movie, that's because it wasn't a true Trek movie, that's why they liked it !
It was your typical Hollywood action adventure movie, with nothing but bright lights, flashy camera angles, romance, contrived plot, loud explosions, chicks in their underwear, and absolutely no substance. That doesn't make them Trekkies because they liked it.
As for the "franchise maturing"...dumbing down the Trek theme isn't maturing the franchise.
@fmscribs If, I might add, I became intralled in Trek after watching this movie, In the past 2 years, Ive seen all of TOS, most of TNG some of DS9, and VOY, and the 10 movies. I must say, that trek was becoming action crap way before the 2009 movie. I feel that the TNG movies wasted the TNG crew on awkward action films. I do like the new movie, but it's a far cry from TOS. I treat it no better then any other movie in my favorite silly action film collection
I can tell you timed this so that the music would match the scene where the Enterprise is coming out of Titan's atmosphere, I loved that scene, it was a really cool look at the Enterprise emerging from hiding, and I have to agree, best looking space ship ever.
my favourite era for ships was the eighties movie era! I was hoping to see fleets of refit constitution vessels in future sequels to this movie and other iconic vessels like the miranda class! and one of my favorites the excelsior class! and that awesome space dock from star trek 3! none of these will ever exist in this timeline.
The special effects have certainly moved on light years even since the most recent star trek outing! I was hoping for the Enterprise to look like the TOS era version! in the failed series Enterprise there was an appearance of the USS defiant and that was essentially exactly like the Enterprise! all the little details intact!
Is it true, also, according to Einstine(?), that objects would get heaveir when they are in warp? If this is true, must be the pressure in space? Because, there is no gravity in space, but vaccumm.
@Ashenion22 Actually it's when they approach the speed of light that their mass increases, along with length constriction and time dilation.
And there is gravity, because the planets are pulled towards the sun, but they overshoot and they repeat the process all over again. Orbit. Same thing with suns orbiting the galactic core.
And there is pressure in a way. Micro amounts of interstellar gas. That's the reason why the Enterprise has the deflector dish.
Hehe! I noticed that the deflector dish opens up like that inside of "V'Ger." Anyhow, on the bridge, of the Enterprise (alternate), before (and just before) she goes into warp, the crew starts seeing that most of the bow section starts to stretch. I always thought that the warp would 'push' a ship, not stretch it. But, then again, others say about the 'fold in space' (space itself gets moved, not the ship). Science....you gotta love it! ;)
@Ashenion22 In TNG movies, you see a ship stretch when going to warp. What bothers me is what would the actual relativistc efects be near light speed. For the Enterprise, everything in the line of it's movement would get shorter. Though the thing is, I don't think the crew would notice themselves get "compressed", just everything outside the ship. So the stars would shine britghter, distant objects closer, and so on.
I like it. you should do a new one "Star Trek XI (2009) - Boy Meets Girl" create a nice Arc. example: Title Sequence - Kirk on Bike - Kirk/Bones Shuttle - Enterprise Flyby - Failed Sulu Warp - Enterprise Warp into Fleet Wreckage - Vulcan Destroyed - Kirk Escape Pod Eject - Kirk Taking Chair - Enterprise Warp into Cloud - Battle with Nero - Warp out :)
Beautifully made! I especially like how you were able to blend the song from the soundtrack (my favorite from that OST - I love the new "Enterprise" themes) with the sound effects from the movie itself.

I like the attention to detail i.e. the deflector dish opening, the impulse engines shutting down just before warp etc.
The bridge crew should be issued ray-bands, though....
