very good comparison test! I've had the us vintage pup's inj my guitar and just changed to ssl5 in neck and bridge and a cs69 in the middle. ssl 5 is very versatile if you use the volume knob.
@mjmb581 It's installed since two days, so take care with my informations :-) like the one in the bridge it's very sensitive to the volume control. Seems overpowered at full volume, need to change my settings. Tonewise there is more typical 'bridge strat sound' than with the us vintage. In that point its even better then the neck Pickup in my blade texas standard, wich is a leosound red house. Buit it's another gutar as well.. Little bassy, need to adjust it a little.
My bridge pickup on my set of 54's sounds underpowered. From what I've read, I'm not the only one who thinks this... Anyone else out there feel that way?
@funkfromspace Glad you enjoyed it... For the bridge my favorite was the CS 69 followed closely by the CS 54 & Fat 50s, somehow I found it responded better with pedals. In the end I went with a Seymour Duncan SSL-5...
cs 69s!

Bridge:
1. CS 54s
2. Fat 50s (Close)
3. CS 69s (Lacking just a little something)
4. 57/62s (Seemed duller)

@bikehomero Hey thanks for your comment, I have the SSL5 on the bridge right now and I'm very pleased. How about the neck one?

Can you tell which pickup from them all is the brightest with the lowest output?
lolispasaviolis 2 years ago
For me the brightest is the CS69 and the lowest output is between the 69 and 54.

Is it just me or do the 54's and fat 50's sound exactly the same?
NXC78 2 years ago
They Do! On the neck you can hear a little more low end from the fat 50's, but these bridges sound the same!
