I was 18 months old when I saw this at the drive-in. I never remembered what movie it was but the scene was etched in my brain at a very very young age. Kind of wierd to see it again in 30 years...lol
This has to be one of my favorite horror movies, it's genuinely scary and I can relate since I had a Mr. Pratt moment. I was just chillin in my computer like I am now - and all of sudden - I don't how it got there - but a roach was just lying on my lap and it FREAKED me out. Just as the title of segment implies: "They're Creeping Up On You!"
actually in real life roaches wont do this... cause the minute you start walking towards them they get scared ... BUT yeah this is really creepy and it gives me chills everytime i see this.
@maiden4lifa09 I think it was more of a supernatural thing. It's supposed to reflect all of the people he stepped on and crushed to get where he was. He views everyone else as vermin and they got their revenge.
As much as I despise cockroaches, I can't help but cringe at the very sight of them. And I'm a frigging guy!!!!! Absolutely HIDEOUS creatures. Especially the flying ones!!!
I couldn't relate to the old fart any more, in that aspect. Wow.
I am going through the timesonline scariest film moments and they hyped this up as a "profoundly upsetting clip" but i found myself quite dispassionate about it. I surprise myself sometimes with what scares me and what doesn't...often it's what I least suspect!
Ugh this movie scarred me for life when I watched it as a kid. I can't believe they showed it on TV, and my mom watched it with me and my brother thinking it was a comedy because the title sequence was funny.
E.G. Marshall was so hilarious in this movie! "Miami!! FLORIDA!! I don't give a fuck if you took the kids to Amsterdam!!" "Than you can take the wife & kids on vacation on your FUCKIN WELFARE CHECK!"
Actually it was Disney World in Orlando where the superintendent took his wife and children for vacation,E.G.Marshall played Upson Pratt a dispicable tycoon who hated cockroaches,he was also in Christmas Vacation and Absolute Power with Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman as the President, sadly he passed away in 1998.
Ummm dude, the roaches rarely got screentime, plus there was at least twice as many roaches coming in every two minutes, which you can't really notice, because of the bitchin' blackouts!
No one sane calls the original Creepshow "retarded". Did you actually watch the film itself? The whole point of it all was to create a horror comic book feel, so of course they would exaggerate the number of cockroaches, that was all a part of what they were doing. Surely you can get that.
creepshow 1 and 2 are the best then i found creepshow 2 even better :D i love old horror movies mixed with comedy like evil dead 1 2 and 3 scary ans funny
i see 1 Mistake they made in this scene.. 1st his eyes are barely open and next they are Wide Open? still a good scene but no one would notice it right off... just pointed it out though. Great Movie though I have it
i saw this when i was a little kid. i thought it was rather spooky. now that im much older its entertaining. good special effects though for a production as old as it is.
A brilliant example of an imaginative movie, when movie makers actually put their minds to movies, instead of using mindless soulless computers like they do today.
Did you get this on DVD? I'm asking because I want to get it but the two movie stores I went to today didn't have it in either DVD or VHS, and none of the online movie download stores has it either, that I've tried yet.
yeah it's only disturbing because it's bugs (not just bugs but roaches which many people abhor) are swarming out of a dead guys body. LOL There's WAY gorier and worse scenes in the history of movies; I think Romero capitalized on ppl's hatred of bugs to make this scene work. There's my 2 cents and (sheesh) mini review! :)
I myself don't really mind insects because some can be beautiful creatures (like grasshoppers and butterflies). However, I'm not a fan of flies because they can be annoying and roaches because they're DOWNRIGHT FUCKING DISGUSTING!!!! I seriously cannot look at them without turning into a shrieking 5 year old.
Take a look at ours we did remake of jordy few more to come

Aside from the thing with the eyes, anybody notice how there were like 5 times as many cockroaches in the final shot as would ever fit in the guy?
