Hi there! I'm new to the DSLR world & my mother in law bought me a D3100 for Christmas. I have been looking at getting another flash and was just looking at the SB400 (because it's budget friendly lol) Would you recommend it? It's just for taking pictures of my friends, family, daughter, etc. On a photo forum I'm on everyone said not to bother with it...so I def don't want to waste my money if it's not that great.
@Billabonglova I love the SB400. I use it all the time. I also own 3 SB800's and use them when I'm in large venues or need multiple lights. The SB400 is terrific for everyday use because it is small, lightweight, and has a tilting head to allow you to use bounce flash. I tend to like lightweight gear that is not a hassle to bring along, so I love the SB400.
Hi! Cool setup. The D3100 isn't going to drive focus for the 50mm, and the F5 might not get the full image on the two zooms (since they are DX). Regardless, grab that D3100 and have a blast :)
My 3100 came with a 18-55 VR lens and I added a 55-200 VR lens, I plan to use those lenses and my 50mm 1.8 Nikkor as well.
I have a Nikon F5 35mm and a D200 that will benefit from these lenses as well, but for now I'm going to be using the 3100 a lot due to it's smaller size and weight
hi, what was the ISO setting looks like 400 to 800 or it could be my old crappy monitor. oh and do u have a podcast on itunes if so whats the name? thanks nice vids and pics
@ChefWannabeToo It's probably a higher equivalent than that. This video was shot on a Canon HG10 video camera with about two nearby incandescent bulbs, so the camera has the gain cranked way up, which brings on the noise. The D3100 would have handled this better at ISO 3200, but I wanted the D3100 to appear in the video. I have done a small amount of podcasting - there is a link to "SnapChick Radio" at the top of my main site.
I'm upset you never show samples! I wanna see your photography. I'm not being a percent like I wanna see this shoot particularly. I just wanna see the samples off all shoots or even some. Can you work that out?
