hey guys, if you have a spare minute could you check out some of my guitar-work on my channel, it would be really appreciated. It sucks to advertise like this but it seems like the only way to get exposure. Thanks if you do check them out :)
1:13... I stopped breathing for a second and wondered... that is Pink Floyd? I didnt know anyone played that specific progression like that, idk why, sounds more like every dramatic pop song now haha Thought that was kinda odd but really cool in a way haha This comment is not intended for arguement ;)
@FucklyDuckly d#minor, Bmajor,F#major, to C#major. I dont know any songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s, that use that I think it is definitely in the 80s, but its the rythym that gets me on it, sounds like what everyone uses now to make a song sound dramatic when using it. Just me thinking, Im having a brainfart of course haha
@clix411 Haha I feel so fucking stupid, you know why the chords sounds so familiar to me? Cause these are the first ones I learnt to play. (Yeah I've been teaching myself so things like A and G and E , those chords came later on... ) Haha thanks man for clearing out my own brainfarts (wow that sound nasty)
@FucklyDuckly Haha Its cool man haha I had to ask my dad if hes ever heard that specific chord progression in any key along with that rythym in the 50s, 60s, early 70's. He said the progression came out late 70's, heavily used in the 80s specificly with hair metal and regular metal, alot of 90's bands used it but now in the 00's almost everyone uses that specific rythym and progression to make a dramatic pop ballad. Thought that was interesting haha ;)

@JuxtaposeMystery ffs does it really matter how old you are? anyone can like anything regardless, so dont be dumb. saying you like it cause your a kid makes it seem like your liking it for attention. merry christmas faggit
Has anyone else besides me noticed that this is essentially the chorus of David Gilmour's "Cruise," from his "About Face" solo album!? "Saving our children, saving our land, protecting us from things we can't understand..."
Gilmours voice and talent highly surpassed Waters. Gilmours voice is so much more melodic, compared to Waters nasal whine. I find sweet irony in seeing the band remain better than ever after Waters departed. He was clearly wrong when he said they would never continue without him. His obvious self absorption caused him to make a very erroneous and lofty prediction. Which never came true, Gilmour is the very essence of Pink Floyd. Which Im sure his best friend Syd Barret would agree.
@robwheelut I often feel sorry for Roger Waters, seeing that he was completely wrong about Floyd's survivability without him, and how they went on to create great, touching artwork without him, also knowing that the lyrics would have been much better with him around. Also, with Waters around, we not have to have been subjected to the one Richard Wright song from "The Division Bell," which I can't stand to this day.
@mahajohn roger waters made some great songs/albums post pink floyd, but i think it would have been better if they all stayed in the band. huge egos suck
@robwheelut ok gilmore is a better musician but roger waters wrote the majority of the best songs, for example the wall and animals album is 99% waters with 1% help of gilmore. but in the end there all equally good
@DEADNIGHTWARRIOR93 He may have wrote most of the songs, but where the hell would they have been without David Gilmour? Even if Roger did write alot if not most of it, if they didn't have David to play it the music wouldn't be near as good. Think of Comfortably Numb. Half of the song is pretty much David doing a solo. Also, if David wasn't there to step in when Syd had his downfall, then the band may have fallen. I just picture it this way, Pink Floyd woudn't be the same
@DEADNIGHTWARRIOR93 or better or worse with Syd, without Syd, with David, without David, with Roger without Roger etc. Pink Floyd is perfectly fine how everything turned out.
yea i hear ya!! im sick of the wall!! he needs to play with mason and gilmour!!!
DSOTM and everything before that is my favorite Pink Floyd era. then they released WYWH and they became not only the most successful rock band in the 70s (next to Led Zeppelin of course) but they became the most innovative and influential group of composers ever to walk the earth. They're records sell like mad still to this day! Waters and Pink Floyd wer def at the top of their game in the 70s. Meddle to The wall
OK, David, we know it exists, now take it out of the vault... We need a Floyd Christmas album! Maybe "Not Now John" as the closer? (I'm serious about the first half, though.)
Roger Waters has such a strange face.....he looks more normal that he's older....but he had such a wide, unusual face.....I wouldn't want to fight him.....he looks tough....lol.
if only Pink Floyd has let Mason sing and done more music like this (a la Robert Wyatt) instead of recording forgettable overblown crap like The Wall....
@FossilisedFishooks wtf people, why do you all think the wall is crap? it's a bloody masterpiece, the fact that it's all about waters should annoy dave or rick or nick, not you!
@FossilisedFishooks forgetable overblown crap like The Wall??!! The Wall is a masterpiece bro.. greatest concept album of all time.. it has so much meaning and its a theatrical show when performed
@UngratefulLiving420 duuudee.. idk about that.. i definitely like those albums better but the wall is extremely complex.. they dont go off topic in any song on the entire album.. the whole thing flows together.. pigs on the wing is a throwaway strum along as gilmour called it.. dark side of the moon strays away from the concept a tiny bit.. and when i say tiny i really mean tiny.. but the wall is straight forward and it is completely on the money with everything that it stands for
@Deefanan666 POTW was written by Waters, and despite Gilmour, I doubt he would call it a "throwaway strum along". I think both parts have meaningful lyrics which relate to the album's theme, i.e in part 1: "We would zigzag our way through the boredom and pain/Occasionally glancing up through the rain/Wondering which of the buggers to blame" or part 2: "So I don't feel alone, or the weight of the stone/now that I've found somewhere safe to bury my bones/Cause every fool knows a dog needs a home"
@UngratefulLiving420 yea i know what your saying.. but gilmour actually did call it that.. saw it in an interview but he obviously wasnt talking about the lyrics.. and yea we all have different opinions so i respect yours and i obviously respect you because you like pink floyd and anyone who likes floyd is alright in my book.. dotsm and animals are incredible albums.. animals is my favorite album by pink floyd.. i just feel that the wall is the most outstanding in the terms of a concept album
@Deefanan666 I hear you. I used to be really into the wall, but it's kind of a bummer lol. I think Waters was at the top of his game in the mid '70s, but then with the Wall and the Final Cut he got all depressing with it. But right now I've come to appreciate the social commentary of Animals, WYWH, and DSOTM far better. I just wish I had a chance to see em live.
@UngratefulLiving420 i agree with what u said how they were at the top of their game in the mid 70s.. shine on has so many different instruments in it, the over dubbing was all done to perfection, the singing, everything. it is just an amazing song.. its so hard to choose a favorite album by them but animals has always sort of been my favorite.. dogs is mind blowing.. they couldnt have made that song any better than how it is now
@UngratefulLiving420 I agree - The Wall has always been very depressing to me. I think Roger meant it to be, although at the very end, there is a glimmer of hope. I remember walking out of the theater when the film came out in a complete daze from the heaviness of the message.

MERRY X-MAS SONG
Pink Floyd 1975
Lyrics/Music: Nick Mason
Christmas song performed at a BBC-show in December 1975. The song was performed by Nick Mason, recorded and can be heard on the bootleg 'Survivor'.
Come on. Nick is singing. The only other song he was a Vocal contributor was One of these Days. This is Floyd,
