ihad 3 major dental surgeries in the last 3 year(i brush my teeth use mouthwash and use dental floss) top front 4 teeth have been removed due to infection and rot. one of my bottom teeth is now infected going to the dentist monday to get it fixed the bottom one is infected due to its crown falling off and not being able to get into the dentist for a week.

I have an abscess but luckily we caught it in time so that it is only a minor abscess! A root canal apparently will fix it up, im going in tomorrow.

3 years ago I was knocked off my motorbike by a 4x4 and had my pelvis smashed into several pieces, along with my knee, and I also suffered from serious sciatic nerve damage. That was painless compared to having one of the abscesses'. These are a living nightmare, asif you're being permanentley tortured :(

I'm so frightened. I have one of these (a second one - I had one about 5 years ago and had to drain it myself because i have always been so terrified of dentists) not sure whether to do the same. my teeth are in such a bad state but i just cant face the dentist and havent been since i was a kid (i'm 25 now). the only way i would go is if i KNEW i could INSIST on being put under general anaesthetic. is this ever possible?

@ursie1986 IM not a big fan of the dentist either, but I have a gum abscess and it really bothers me. So the best thing to do is go to the dentist, they might drain it and maybe give you some antibiotics.

If you have pain killers consider yourself very lucky ! I wanted to die the pain was so bad . Why cant the dentist just fix it ? Well , he can for money . He / she knows you'll probably do anything to get the money . So , they will leave you in pain , so you'll go get it some how or another or your sqrewed . Good luck everybody !

My girl friend rubbed my back all through the night long , wile I was in the worse pain from my abscess . I cried ! I screamed ! I punched the wall and the bed ! I could not believe the pain ! I married her , we now have a thirteen yr.old . I took my now wife to the dentist and had her teeth fixed . She has had know pain ,intell the other day . I rubbed her back all night ! Now I have to get that fixed .It takes So much money . Canadians get there teeth fixed for free . Why not americans ?

@ginalee77 I am a Canadian. I'm sorry to say that you may have been misinformed about our dental care here. Dental care is NOT free in Canada. We get subsidized, but we still have to pay for a portion of it.

@ginalee77 I am Canadian as well, and I can assure you that I do not get free dental care. I pay into an isurance company which I do believe the USA has as well. You have to choose a policy and pay into every month and sometimes they cover some of what you need, when you need it. What we do get for free at SOME hospitals in SOME cities is the ability for a doctor in an emergency ward to pull out a tooth for free.

OK...so my dentist wants me to go to an endodontist for a root canal, but she says it's not really a problem right at the moment, the tooth has a crown on it and there is no decay, but the nerve has a wee problem....this helped me make my decision to get the root canal! lol...I do not want this to happen to me!

i had an abscess i couldnt go to sleep i was up all night i was luckey if i got an hour mabey even 2 hours sleep but the only thing that was stoping the pain was Water somehow water was stoping the pain. during that 2weeks i had the abcess i drank about 100-150L of water but when i got the tooth took out there was no pain =) everybody *there is nothing worse than tooth ache

I think I have this thing, and I'm so afraid of dentists :S

I think it's starting to affect my joints, my knees are starting to hurt for no apparent reason and I'm feeling feverish sometimes. However, it doesn't hurt (yet), and the only symptom is a bad tooth and something that looks like a small cyst near it. I've decided to go to a dentist as soon as the week starts. What should I expect? Is it easily treatable? Is it completely treatable or just manageable?

I woke up the other day and my mouth was swollen, I went to the dentist and they gave me antibiotics. I got home and man my face started to swell so so bad.

A couple days later both of my cheeks were swollen, the bottom of both eyes were swollen, I felt so weak and I couldn't eat or sleep. Yesterday my abscess burst, I was glad because the pain goes instantly, but the taste of the pus is rank. You find yourself in the bathroom rinsing your mouth out for like an hour, disgusting. I just want the swelling to go down and then I'm going to the dentist to have a root canal hopefully.

I had a lower abscessed tooth that was so infected I had to wrap a dishtowel around the jaw to minimize the pain. When i saw the dentist (oral surgeon) he had to lance the abscess externally. The left side of my jaw was inflamed and I had intense pain--no local, no nothing, he just quickly cut with a scalpel. To all you folks who suffer with abscesses & all you dentists too. Read up on natural home care for these things. Herb poultice r EXCELLENT for this purpose!

Note to dentists, please have mercy on your local people who can't afford dental care & spread the word that their infected gums can b treated successfully at home in so many cases. When I was in grade 2, I injured my tooth with a tooth pick, lol, and when I ate something hot it would hurt a lot, so when i woke up in the morning, I had an abscess. It would give me a lot of pain. This shit hurts a lot. If you have a toothache make sure you brush and floss before you go to bed, that will stop the bacteria from infecting your tooth.

i had an abcess incident over a year ago, went to the hospital in emence pain and they cat scanned me or mri or w/e and said it was an abcess, they gave me a perscrition for penecilin and pain killers.

its been a year since then and now im getting constant headaches behind my right eye and pain coming back above that same tooth.

could it be that the abcess is spreading into my sinus canal? hence the reason for the headaches?

I think you should go to your dentist because if the infection isn't treated properly it can get into your blood and spread.that's what my dentist told me =[

well it feels like someone is crushing my jaw with a vice grip and that my teeth are floating. I cant eat or sleep or drink anything cold or bite down on anything also I get super tiered and

my neck is constantly stiff from the infection spreading I always feel like I have an ear ache and I always have a head ache.
