ok, my mom raised baby racoons when the mother was found dead. They DO make great pets and for all of u ignorant people on here saying negative things about the mom in this specific situation...u have no idea how STUPID u sound! Most people take care of the babies and then relocate them once they can survive on their own or hand them over to a wildlife rescue. As for the rabies, they can easily be tested AND treated with a simple vaccination just like domesticated cats and dogs. DUH PEOPLE!!!

Also a raccoon may be aggressive if it has some sort of disease but this stands for all animals, not just raccoons. Raccoons are actually as harmless as your average dog or cat. Yes, maybe on some occasions Raccoon's can become snappy but, cant all animals? Whether wild or not Raccoon's are there to survive just like the rest of us and when u think they are invading ur property, just remember it was their home first before it got destroyed and turned into Surburbia.

@151megz I never said they weren't friendly but sometimes, if they are sick, they aren't. Some people have pets, and this is what I think this is. But i have a raccoon hanging around my house, my cat and it don't get along so we have to be careful, but otherwise it just sits there and gives you a stare down til you shoo it off. I am going into wildlife care work as well, I'm learning as I go. When I commented saying that I had had a friend who almost got bitten by one, so I was edgy.
