  • Such a powerful song for a great movie....thank you for sharing.

  • "There are a lot of secrets in district 9." <3

  • There,s alot of secrets in District 9....

  • 4 years later.... "Tha FUCK?!"

    30000 lightyears away

"You left me to get beaten by some asshole, and you crashed my ship jerk!"

  • CANT FOOKING WAIT TO THE NEXT MOOVIE

  • @Gudnazon :D

  • @Gudnazon I cant wait for the next fookin moovie either. 8-17-12

  • @bonchidude why make up a random date.....

  • @SeanyBoi86 Au contrare! The date is exactly 3 years from the release date of District 9. 8-17-12 is a Friday. This great movie was first was released on 8-14-09.

  • @bonchidude Lets hope you are right! I can't wait any longer either :)

But unfortunately it's probably going to be a prequel. Of course we all want to know what Christopher is going to do when he comes back, but on the other hand, a film like that might ruin everything.

I personally don't care at all whether it's going to be a sequel or a prequel, as long as I get to see another fantastic film! :D

  • @3027085 I hate prequels... I was waiting for a Monsters Inc sequel, and so I discovered that it will be a prequel... That sucks.

The only good prequel I've seen in YEARS is Rise of the planet of the apes.

  • @lucaalbano8 In this case you are definitely right. There are so many open questions that should be answered. In other cases you just want to know how it all started (like planet of the apes)

but here the most important things have been explained already.

  • Zak Bagans loves this song (:

  • GREAT FOOKIN MOVIE

  • Could anyone suggest music like this?

  • @DoomRulz

    /watch?v=6ceJtQYuV00

  • @TheIslammiracle Hot damn, thanks for that :) I love it!!

  • @DoomRulz a band called Hammock makes amazing ambient music.

  • @Lizzaly Thanks for that, it's good music indeed!

  • the end scene when show him making a flower to his wife... just kill me :( beautiful!

  • this song is like a path to our soul and to the outside world, the beauty and the pain all around us. we are so weak and strong at the same time. i love this music!!!

  • This guy could be great for another film. I think he can help out with Broken Force, a movie idea I allowed Natalie Portman to know about. She will help me get it produced.

  • 3 years, I promise...

  • @MaxDamageProductions Damnit I cannot wait for the sequel! The end is so open ended that there must be one!

  • why the fuck pepole say this is good its great there is no best there all good look at moon score d9 score inceptions score 28 days and weeks later theres a shit ton out there go look there is no best there all very good i love this one prawnkus and d9 just beautiful

  • @irealETSnipers Please use proper grammar and punctuation instead of one long run-on sentence.

  • Music to a man's final stand against an army of evil people.

  • i like the part of this song when the vocals kick in and wikus is talking about his wife looking like an angel to him in a picture towards the end of the movie. shit is so sad cause he is an alien and probably eating cat food for the next three years.

  • At least D9 should have won the Academy Award for Best Soundtrack or score. People still ask me who's the artist and they don't even know about the movie, they see it and they go: "How the hell did I missed this at the theatre?"

  • lol wtf whip my hair back and forth ><

  • correct me if I'm wrong, I have no comment to people who disliked this film, except "YOU DON'T WATCH FILM TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF IT, YOU ALWAYS WATCH FILM TO SEE A NON-STOPING ACTION"

  • @mgllcs thats not entirely true

  • district 9 is one of those films whitch doesnt need a sequel. a sequel may ruin it

  • @GearsOfWarAnimations I think if a sequel was done correctly, with less of the apartheid sucks kind of plot, it may be good. But i get what you're saying a lot of the times sequels ruin already great movies.

  • @Multiplayertoaster: Sequels can't ruin good movies. But they can piss people off.

  • @GearsOfWarAnimations yeah but if there isnt a sequel you only will remember the cliffhanger in the end :(

  • play this at my funeral

  • @oOAnducsOo better before you die

  • @oOAnducsOo lol

  • @oOAnducsOo Yeah when I get old and finally go to heaven, they can play this soundtrack at my funeral too. Great idea!

  • What a good song. Makes you feel solitude and sadness. Really touching :D

  • @JoseMB13 i know exactly what you mean

  • @bearpuncher21 Thnx! When I first heard this song I felt like if I was the only living thing on Earth. As soon as the song ended I downloaded it :)

  • This is one of the best quotes:

Christopher Johnson's Son: How many moons does our planet have?

    Christopher Johnson: Seven.

Christopher Johnson's Son: This planet only has one. I can't wait to see our planet again... it's bigger than this one, isn't it?

Christopher Johnson: [turns off holographic atlas of what seems to be the Alien home planet] Enough.

Christopher Johnson's Son: We go home now?

...*sobs* Best Music ever of 2009 I thinks

  • i cant listen to this...it makes me wanna cry..go ahead call me a bitch idc.

  • the final scene of district 9 is one of the most powerful I ever saw in movies. It always take me a tear.

  • Can anyone tell me the song that starts when Christopher and Wikus are in the MNU lab, and Wikus and trying to defend Christopher?

  • @RussianAndre I'm comparing the soundtrack to that scene and it just sounds like the District 9 theme song without the South African lyrics. (It's not unusual for a movie to use the theme music like that throughout and then layer on lyrics or additional music for the soundtrack or for different scenes.)

  • @RussianAndre That piece of music is at the tail end of the track called District 9. It starts at 5:10 and runs to the end.

  • i like sounds like that. breathe deep, hear it, and feel like you´r flying through the air... great!

  • Well this film.........

I into a cinema I saw it first, and I burst into tears!

The sound that into a cinema was procured into his power totally!

    This music is sad!

Today's one until a day my favourite!

  • Both the film and soundtrack can make someone want to cry. It's so sad...so very, very, very sad

  • @Raptor3946- yeah dude i love this song but sometimes i cant listen to it. its so sad ..makes me kinda despressed

  • It's amazing how Neill paid such attention to every detail of this movie, including the music. You're so caught up in the Wikus and Christopher Johnson characters by the time this music comes on! It was beautiful how he drowned out the rest of the sound and slowed down the movement as Wikus is being pulled from the command module and thrown into the truck. So emotional and moving, especially for a sci-fi flick!

  • Definately sends a message. Kinda funny how Hollywood and other movie makers know how to touch a persons soul in a good or bad way. They know how to visualize compassion, understanding, love, and also hate and discontent. We as patrons pay to watch these visual self importance of ourselves. We know how we should be, but it only last for a couple days. Know what I mean? It's Ironic. Yes, and the music really made the movie more definitive.

  • Besides all that I have posted, this song is absolutely beautiful.

Words cannot describe how moving this song is for me.

  • My play count on i tunes for this is 98 o_O and i turned up the part at 1:18 :)

  • BEST.

    SOUNDTRACK.

    EVER.

  • this is what it comes to in the past it was no blacks no whites no mexicans no Asians et. Now its the divide between species this is what we need aliens to bring humanity together as one, not be divided and hate on each other for skin color....

  • @Owlbearx2

But then wouldn't a lot of us humans end up hating and mistrusting the aliens?

Then again, it does all depend on what they're like; but there is always good in everything.

  • @Tomaji It's nice to hear someone else say what I have been telling people a lot over the last few weeks. That there is always good in everything. Life, no matter how cruel it seems, is just life, and life is good. Whether it be human life, microbial life or extraterrestrial life. Life is good and no matter what happens to us in the next 10 million years, what we do with this Earth, this Solar System, this Galaxy and this Universe, it will be good too. If we die, that means we had a good life.

  • @ABitOfTheUniverse

Couldn't have agreed more my friend.

  • @Owlbearx2

Another thing, even if Aliens do come out of Space and we have our "battle" and years will go by, we humans will still be racist to our own kind.

Humans need war because we all are animalistic in nature.

It's just our rules by which we live by, that we aren't.

I mean, hell, I'm from the south and every once in a while, I will still see a Confederate flag or hear a lot of white people call black people the "N" word.

Humans will find any excuse to go to war.

  • @Tomaji I agree, it's human nature to be self-destructive. Our existence revolves around ending itself.

But that doesnt we will always be like this... But it will for a long time. It's comforting to think that we evolved from apes to human. So why not from human to something entirely better?

  • @VerifyVolatile wise words

  • There is now need for a prequel I want a sequel

  • District 9 = Best Movie EVER!!!!!!

  • can't find the words to explian it

but can you imagine a real world

like this one in the movie

great movie and great song too

  • This and Moon, and yes, Avatar, because it was not bad and it was certainly popular (and incredibly beautiful), made Sci-fi great again. 2009 is the year of sci-fi. All three of them deserved best picture over all the other nominees.

  • Awesome fucking song to an awesome fucking movie. Fuck you.

  • amazing. both the movie and its soundtrack.

  • i listen it every day

  • epic sound

  • To XChrisRozarioX

haha Thanks Chris! Seemed like I was mostly wasting my time. :)

  • the sequel should be released three years after this one came out. so it'll actually be timed for when the prawns come back. and so we know how it was like for wikus to wait. :)

  • thats right motha fucka!!!!!!!!

  • does anyone know what song was used in the credits? i mean right when the credits started, it sounded like a violin or something.

  • @0180917 Prawnkus or District 9

  • @ramdarter

If you go to a private school your parents should demand their money back. The correct spelling is 'YOU'RE a retard.' And the phrasing 'case and point' is actually 'case IN point,' and would be followed by an example proving your argument. Case in point, your parents got ripped off because YOU'RE a retard.

  • FilthyReech Sir, I honestly respect you. I haven't seen a clear response to immature ignorant comments in a while.

  • @Kingpaci123 The video is already maked, lol.

  • @LOidos2000 ye i said some one should make a VIDEO OF the film and use the song hide and seek

  • 1:17 is so freaking great.

What are you people arguing about? It's a song, for Christ's sake. And a good one at that. Just listen and be happy.

  • i love that part you say

  • @LoneBesamell

yeah 1:17 is nice but I love 2:48 when the vocals come in =)

  • very touching music this is

  • yoda ?

  • hell yeah!!! mofo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this plays right after the private millitary contracter dude gets ripped to pieces and wikis starts crying as he looks up the mothership leaving that scene got to me and not many things phase me. i spelt wiks name wrong.

  • If you studied your history properly, you would know that the definition of evolution was that organic DNA gradually became more complex because of errors in the celulair duplication process, caused by radiation or other causes.

DNA hasn't always been that complex, the first lifeforms were merely only bubbles of DNA, and through evolution and sexual reproduction, the world became what it is as of now.

Alien intervention? You probably mean background radiation from the Big Bang.

  • @ohairy111 some one forgot to give grandpa his medicine.

  • "History"? DNA is a chemical compound, moron. It's a SCIENTIFIC subject. "History" doesn't have fuck-all to do with it, unless perhaps you're an insecure underachiever who can't learn math or science and thinks an easier subject like history can make up for that.

  • "It couldn't possibly come from him... I know it's true."

  • @themuslimburro In the deleted scenes it shows you how a prawn reproduction system works, it turns out its A-sexual. But it also says that only lay eggs to keep there race alive, not to have a child, this obviously does not apply to C. Johnson.

  • @Smoke12341000 Not A-Sexual, it's a different term. THat deleted scene was funny and this movie rocks!

  • Yeah it does! Hahaha, im going to watch it again now. :P

  • is this played at the scene when wikus is showing a photo of his wife n he's like all beaming with pride. cos that part got me

  • yes,this is it...

  • Prawns are either female nor male, they can reproduce without a mate...

  • @Zred28 Cool Story Bro.

  • Hope there's gonna be a sequel I would love to revisit world of district 9 again

  • i was looking some info up on district 9 the sequel they said would be called d9 somthing somthing(example:revenge of the sith)or just district 10 they said it woud be an almost 3 hour movie. this just what i heard it was on some fan site i dont remember the name though.

  • @gamefreaks009 peter jackson said there will be one in the future, but the date of film hasnt been posed and neil blomkamp has another films to do too.

I want the sequel or a prequel.

if prequel i want it to be to explain why aliens are here.

  • @Imamanguy Aren't the aliens here because there ship broke? They didn't come to Earth intentionally, just the closest place they could find. Am I right?

  • @dewiowen1 yes but in the movie it says that there was a conflict in their planet, se i want it to exlain what happened.

  • @gamefreaks009 and not leave us on a cliffhanger

  • @gamefreaks009

There is a talk of a District 10. Nothing's been confirmed yet though.

  • Learn the difference between SciFi and reality, None. They use Science Fiction Movies to introduce new idea's to the public, but do you have any idea how many movies they call SciFi, but at True. This movie isn't science fiction, its a very real possibility, like most "Science Fiction" movies.

  • shut up u tit

  • Anyone knows the track playing in the scene where WIkus and Christopher are in MNU and Christopher just stands there while the gun fire is taken place because he sees the dead body of the Prawn?

  • its might be "Alot of Secrets"

  • @dude3453 that dead body could have been his wife, I'm just guessing because he's the little prawn's father but the mother is no where to be found.

  • Wasn't the dead prawn the friend that got detained in the beginning of the film because he acted hostile?

  • @Dramen93 that's a possibility too, but anyway you can't really tell, since his/her body was mutilated beyond recognition.

  • @Dramen93 he didnt get detained he got shot in the face.

but it probably was his corpse>

  • @themuslimburro didn't they say that they weren't females in the Prawns species? That they reproduce differently. Like there isn't a father/mother type family grouping. I'm making a wild guess that they said it in the film or mentioned it some how. But yea i did find the track I was looking for tho. Oh and there is a possibility that he knew the prawn on the table.

  • @dude3453 I guess thats it.

  • It's important to remember that sexual reproduction isn't something that will necessarily evolve on another planet separate from us. It's definitely gotten the job done here on earth, but that doesn't mean it's the norm or even somewhat common throughout the cosmos. Their means of perpetuating themselves could be alien beyond belief. They may not even have DNA, some other self-replicating compound could have emerged on their planet.

  • hey mate the music for that scene is on the first track of the district 9 soundtrack enititled "district 9". For me that was one of the most emotional parts. :) Music fitted extremely well.

  • @geranimo18 thanks and yea I thought so too. Check out Bryan Tyler - Inama Nushif and go to like and go to 1:40 of the song. It's pretty epic and emotional like that part in District 9.

  • One of my all time favorite Scifi movies of all time. District 9 was brilliant and amazing. I saw it so many times and I also have the DVD now. It's really awesome and I reccomend it to Scifi fans. I remember not knowing what to expect when I was advertising it to people months before it's release (that's what i do on TAGGED and FACEBOOK). The soundtrack is awesome as I'm listening to it here. He does deserve actor of the year.

  • id rather they not make a sequel cause thats how transformers was ruined or mabe they should idk peter jackson and neil blomkamp are so far rly good at making sci fi movies ftw

  • omg when wikus was making the flower i almost cried. This is actually the very first movie that has got to me.

  • hey stickman, can i get some more info on that ebay thing, how much e sell it 4.

  • I think the Actor Sharlto Copley who plays Wikus deserves the Best Actor at the Oscars. I thought he was brillant and brought real emotion and belief to the role as Wikus. Also he had never done any acting before, just a Rookie. Defo Deserves it!

  • yes District 10 Christopher said he didnt want his people to be experimentsAKA RESCUE PLAN and to come back in 3 years for wickus

  • Haha, One of those things your not suppose to think about.

  • It took 20 years to collect that much fluid. Then Wikus squirts the fluid in his face, but somehow they still have enough to travel. Interesting.

  • the fluid that was sprayed on Wikus' face was only about a 1/12 of the total fluid in the container.

  • @ohairy111 Fuel was for Dropship only, MOthership had Plenty of that stuff. i think :|

  • I assume that the tube is a battery to power the main systems on the ship, they don't need all the battery to power it, they just need enough to get them home.

  • What makes anyone think it was a "fuel" in the strictest sense? Christopher probably simplified the explanation to his son and Wikus, but I'm telling you right now that there's no way a small thermos of fluid has enough potential energy to move a 20 ton module through the air. It's likelier that the module was designed to not start unless someone could put enough fluid in the receptacle, as a kind of way of proving that a leader-caste prawn was trying to start it and not a regular prawn.

  • @TithonusSyndrome I am thinking that the fluid is the bio-key that so much of the rest of their technology has. The module didn't have any left (probably as a result of the initial malfunction that caused it to crash) and thus wasn't able to detect alien DNA and therefore couldn't start up. This would explain why they were scavenging technology that we already know is keyed to their biology, they were trying to obtain enough bio-key to get the ship to detect alien DNA so it would activate.

  • titho,

humans are experts of all matter...? we can't even begin to describe what plasma really does, for example. further, we're unable to unanimously describe "darkmatter" and cannot claim that we know how to harness its energy.

the human genome is matter of some type and yet we exist (with conscious thought no less) because of it. i for one believe a 'small thermos of fluid' has much more potential energy to move a 100 ton module or even produce a massive black hole. who knows.

    -.-

  • So in other words, you seem to think that because we don't know all of science yet, any retarded, completely improbable event is possible, even if it violates existing science rather than goes hand-in-hand with it. Hey, why don't we just cut to the chase and say that the fuel was made of sunshine, rainbows and wet farts? It makes about as much sense and demonstrates about as much knowledge of science as anything else you've said.

  • titho,

the difference between science and religion is that with science, laws can be rewritten & books can be updated [with new evidential findings]; whereas in religion, if there is any deviation from the original scriptural meaning, it is wholly considered false and unsubstantiated.

what the science community loves to do is criticize creative thought, especially when patents are involved; forces people to be closed minded - like you.

jealous that my comment was rated higher than yours?

    -.-

  • Yes, I'm jealous that a rabble of scientifically illiterate proles like yourself upvoted your comments on a site that panders to populist sentiment, surely that must be the explanation.

There's a difference between creative thought that is constructive, and creative thought that is fanciful, unrealistic, retarded and obviously the work of a dilettante who does not understand the background science. You're advocating the latter and then pretending to be a victim of oppression, oh boo hoo hoo.

  • titho,

wow, your reading comprehension is deplorable. you are the victim here titho, not me. you see only impossibilities because you limit so much to current [yet replaceable] laws of science.

fear not, titho, someday Einstein will be proved wrong and when this happens, you'll be coming back here to give my comments a huge 'thumbs-up' (and i thank you now in advance).

until then, i strongly advise you to READ a whole heck of a lot... practice makes perfect, titho.

    lol

    -.-

  • You seem pretty sure of yourself for a peabrain who has demonstrated no understanding of science of the actual technical material involved, just misrepresentations from pop culture. How about you cite some accredited sources that support your ignorant fabrications and desperate made-up attempts to avoid the crushing humiliation of admitting that you have no scientific knowledge?

  • When I first saw this movie in theaters I knew I would have a connection to it for all time. I truely loved it. It shows that all creatures; human, animal and even non human if they exist, all have a soul and emotions inside them because of the life they have. 2:48-2:58 almost makes me tear up everytime. May every living creature tonight find a moment of peace :)

  • wow i loved this movie :)

  • he will come back and effect a rescue plan IMO, BUT it will turn into a small war. there will be humans and aliens on one side and humans on the other side because some of the humans are friends with prawns if you seen in the movie, the protests outside D9. so im sure that Christopher Johnsen will only destroy people of MNU if they try to stop the rescue plan.

  • i swear they need to make a sequel. I hate cliff hangers.

  • at the end t said about district 10 being built

    maybe next film name?

  • Was there a cliff hanger? To me it seemed like a fitting ending. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a sequel, but I felt that wrapped things up nicely and left some of it to the imagination. We'll see I guess.

  • i just want to know what will happen to wikus and chirstopher

  • Well, Christopher promised he'd return in 3 years, so I'm guessing he does and Wikus is in District 9 hiding, blending in.

  • @halomaster2270 Same, but Neill said he was more interested in making a prequel more than a sequel. But I really do want to know what happens to Wikus too; they can't leave him as a prawn forever! Plus Wikus is such a great character and Sharlto is such a great actor.

Don't forget to vote for D9 and Sharlto Copley at the Teen Choice Awards under Sci-Fi Film and Sc-Fi Actor. You can vote once a day. Sharlto needs at least one award recognizing his amazing performance in D9!!

  • this movie is awesome deserves an oscar, also who else wants a armor suit used by wikus near the end.

  • oh soem guy built that suit out of metal and made a controller and stuff so you can control it he sold it on ebay

  • Humans have issues ...

  • The movie was really chilling to me, not simply the film itself but knowing that humankind would not hesitate to behave in a such a way if a similar situation occured. Wonderful soundtrack, wonderful movie!

  • Why are people arguing about Transformers and D9? They're totally different. I watch Transformers to get laughs, see hot chicks, and watch crazy action set piece moments. I watch D9 to get fully immersed into that world, to see what it would be like living with a kind that is completely different. I love both, but I watch them for completely different reasons.

  • my thoughts exactly. well said.

  • The best song out of the movie...It helped me to realize how we as humans were in the bad, and how we have lost our connection with our true selves...God Help Us In these years to come...It Is Time To Change Our Hearts

  • @ohairy111 I thought "god" was the problem

  • i really hope they make a sequel not one of those take over the world sequels but one where christopher helps vickus amd his ppl.

  • wickus, my bad

  • its wikus

  • this was a sad movie :(

    but ughh! >:/

it makes me so mad how humans think..

  • Damn straight! I wanted to kill that one guy who killed a bunch of Prawns, and hurt Christopher..FOR THE FUN! That made me so mad :|

  • hey well the prawns tore him limb from limb and then ate those limbs soooooooo.....yea brutal death

  • Gotta love them prawns!

  • If you want to be a killer and follow blind orders, join the armed forces, especially the military, which is there for one purpose, continuity of government.

And this movie has alot more truth then you people think. The day when humans and aliens live side by side is not far. Our government works hand and hand with aliens already. There is no such thing as science fiction, this is there way of telling you truth, through science fiction movies. Anyone whos awake realizes this.

  • what really got me about this movie was the lack of understanding that the gung ho military men had and in real life still have. They have no grasp of their connection to life, and because of their lonely seperation they embrace anger, power and cruelty because it was the only thing that made them feel anything of worth. I hated the cruel bald guy, but at the same time he dosent realise what hes doing, so your conflicted between hate and understanding.
